.....Mishaps & Difficults

This wispy feather I found
while walking in the field.....

~ photos enlarge~

it left me wondering
if there had been a mishap...
or was it a casual loss...
~
then just a few feet over...
lay another...only red...
no other prints or feathers...
so...still...wondering!

I found them on a morning
that was getting slightly warmer
it was slowly turning hazy...
fog coming from the valleys
on either side.

Snow on the roof eventually slid...

from inside it sounded like a
serious mishap...
snow cascaded down...

unto the back porch...but
no serious mishap occurred!

Although some of the birds...
did seem puzzled a bit!

Every time we had a slight thaw...
and the icicles began to drip...

it would turn cold
and snow again.....

...enough to
flatten the Bamboo even more.

While checking out the Bamboo...
I noticed a long deep trail
of tiny perfectly spaced prints...

of which...
I followed to the back yard
and down over the hill...

to this hole...
which later Herhusband said...
perhaps was a skunk's.
~
A serious mishap...
I managed to avoid!

I can avoid skunks...
but I can't avoid feeding the birds.
We went into winter with 8
of these large bags.
We are now down to 3.
A large trash can holds
the sunflower seeds.....

...from which
I scoop the seeds into a plastic jar...
and carry it to the bird feeders...
in this tote...

which isn't as difficult a job...
as Herhusband's job...
of toting the wood this winter
to the basement door...

...from the wood shed...
which is nearly empty now.
The beginning of winter
found it full...
it's a diificult job!

Alivia's dad...our oldest son...
has been working hard too.

Pulling Alivia in the snow.

They came in...to visit for a while...
We dried Alivia's boots, snow pants,
coat, scarf, hood, hat..
and brother's gloves
by the wood stove.

And then they were off again...
Alivia may be making it a difficult job...
I think she drags her hands!

Maybe he's in training...
for his own Winter Olympics!

Then they went on down the drive...
toward home...

with a few rest stops...
now and then...
to avoid any serious mishaps!

Younger son visited too...
but left in a less difficult way!

Meanwhile...
I'll be having coffee...

and croissants...

and watching the birds...
~
until Spring!

...which isn't difficult at all!

.....Managing Snow & Life

This was the view from my window...
around Valentine's Day.

Here's birds in the pine tree...
where mostly they stayed.
~
~enlarges~
You can see only 7, but many were there!
.
.
.
Since then.....it has snowed...even again...

thirteen inches found it's way here....

Leaving the front porch...
with so much to clear.

Alivia managed to leave her mark.

But,
here on the back porch...
not a print.....just yet!

The birds all managed
to find their way too...
here, all in a row...
with a forgotten wreath....

just waiting and hoping...
this intruder would leave....

So much snow...
on a very long drive
.
left Herhusband...
with a job to do!

The very next day...
the sun managed to shine...

But still...
the snow's too deep
to easily take
those walks of mine.

I needed to find
other things to do.....
~
like
making breakfast muffins...
enough
for a month or two.

Made
scalloped potatoes and carrots
with just a little cheese....

Stir fried...
vegetarian sausage,
peppers......onions,
and zucchini till brown!

Whipped up ...
banana pudding
with
graham crackers
and sweet pecans!

Being snowed in...
I managed to watch...
home movies too!
This is a very young....
Granddaughter Katie "Poo"

This is an older Katie...
with cousin Alivia here...

Katie's birthday is Monday...

she's turning even older, 17 this year!

And...
here's Katie as a very small child...

Pretty and sweet in every way!

Katie...sometimes...

wore cute little dresses...
when she played.

She...
explored the woods...
at a very young age.

Katie often went...
on my walks with me.

Here...
she was posing...
in the stump of a tree.

Sweet and innocent.....
she easily appeared to be....

But,
was usually the first...
up any fallen tree!
As here, with her brothers
Andrew and Dylan...
then it's cousin Grant...
See whose first...it's...Katie.

She could stand her ground
in snowball fights.
Seen here with cousins Nathan
and Nick on the right!

4 leaf clovers...I keep in a book.
Many say, they are hard to find...
along with me...Katie looked too...
breaking my record, with 42!

At a very young age...
a serious practice of driving
she did...
mostly up and down our drive.

At about this time...
I thought I could see...
just a little...bit of me!

I'm on the left...she's on the right.
Please tell me
you see a resemblance...
even though...it's very slight?
~
Her appearance changes...
quite frequently.
At times, her hair...
she wears it straight...

but it seems to curl...quite easily!

Here's she's by my kitchen door...
I don't think I...
could love her more.

This was back in the fall...
just 'fence sitting'...
in the field....

and here...
she's sitting in a car...
Do you know what I feel?

It's that sense of humor.....
that keeps our Katie...so very real!
