Lost and Found

Blogger has turned my Buckeye Butterfly sideways...
so tilt your head...for a better view!
I spied him and his spots...
~

as I was going to the field for a better view...
of the evening sun lighting the tree tops.

Just last week.....the same view was less golden.....
and now the large trees to the right.....

.....their leaves are becoming.....
a deep cherry bright!

~

Some have fallen like feathers.....waiting to be found.....

just like in the drive....
where crushed hickory nuts...that fell to the ground...
were found by a fox...seen here...chowing down!

Gathered some nuts...the ones in close sight...
a different Buckeye, a walnut, hickory nuts too...
one loose and another.....still wrapped up tight...
Acorns from oaks...Red, Pin and White!

~ ~ ~

My son, Steve.....found this strange looking rock...
down at the creek...between our houses.

Steve thinks it looks similar to this.....
Fossilized Oviraptor Dinosaur Egg.

What do you think?

Steve has a knack.....to find what's been lost!
At about 8 (he's now 40).....he found my dad's keys....
several years.....after having been dropped.

One day I tagged along with Steve...
to the creek.....with a smile.
He brushed against Stinging Nettle...
which stings MORE.....than awhile.

Right away Steve saw...which I too did see...
on this rock he holds....immediately...

~~~
...a Cat's Face!....Did you see?
He came to metal detect and look for fossils...
but a few hearts he found and gave to me.
This one was large and growing moss!
This small one...he found on the side of the bank.
He spied it quickly...even before me!
I only found this LARGE patterned rock...
...and what I think is a trilobite!
The creek bed was dry....
with an enormous fallen tree in it's length!
Another lay.....cross-wise!
We left the creek....
I took a different route.
There's Steve below.....that spot of blue.
The small heart cleaned up very nice...
with it's fern-like green!
That night the moon was extremely special!
The next morning found....
the deer out front!
The Fawns have lost their Spots!
I may have Steve look for them!
As I went out....
they went down the drive!
And...
I found the morning sun.....peeking through!
Little Things
A sunrise of quiet colors...
greeted me one morning...over the field.
This morning...like almost every morning...
I was greeted by the fawns.
One was strolling and one was resting by the fence....
to the left of the drive.
I went out and they ventured closer.
~
Then they ran off down the field.
Some mornings...
the two can be found to the right of the drive...
standing in dappled shade...
~
...then sometimes the light hits one just right!...
~
Sometimes...
it's their family of three in the field...
eating apples from the ground.
~
~
The fawns like walking through the tall grass of the field...
sometimes resting there a bit.
~
This day though...
after they ate their small meal...they sauntered away!
~
But...
before entering the woods...the fawns did look back!
Some of our meals were lighter than others...
...to make up for treats we drank or ate!
Yes, it was Blackberry Crisp again...
...nothing changes...
it's my favorite...Herhusband's is cake.
The field and flowers are changing...
the Black-eyed Susans have really spread.
~all photos enlarge~
A few other things I happened upon....
a golden caterpillar in the rain...
3 acorns and leaves attacked to a twig...
a 'doll's eyes' seed head...
and a setting sun...while checking for mail
I prepared your senses
with the cute golden caterpillar above.
~
Now...
here is Goldenrod in the field...
try to appreciate
these
caterpillars too!
One was on a tomato plant...one stripped a parsley plant...
and one was on the water hose!
Remember...
they do turn into
~
these
beautiful Swallowtail Butterflies and Moths!
This was the last good apple hanging on the tree...
afterwards...I did pick it!
The roses and butterfly bushes are still blooming.
Seed pods are forming and the walnut tree...
is casting shadows on the barn.
Some of the walnuts are huge again this year!
I have counted 29 trees!
On the day I took these photos by the barn...
the sky looked like this!
I left the field that day and walked...
through the woods to Alivia's backyard.
Guess who I found playing basketball...
with her brother Nick.
They didn't see me coming...
so I got some candid shots.
Alivia got some good shots too!
Then finally she saw me!
One day...
while waiting for the school bus with her mom...
Alivia glanced down and found a Heart in her drive!
....and
Andrew found two hearts...after he rode his dirtbike
on a path through the woods...down to the creek!
I take that same path myself...
down to the creek.
My last visit there...I found this.
The creek bed was dry and had more fallen trees...
and grape vines pulled across.
I walked far...to where the banks leveled out...
.....before turning and heading back...
to where my home sits...just up the hill.
Passing under this log...
is where I found this Heart!
Now...along with the camera...I have two to carry.
I can go back up the way I came...but...
I turn right and take this way.
It's a little farther...but not as steep!
When I reach the top...I can go right...
deeper into the woods...or...
I can turn left and head straight home...
which is what I do!
On the path going home...I come across...
a fallen leaf stuck in the thick bark of a tree...
a long perfect roll of thin bark on the ground...
...and
a feather balanced on a moss covered log.
