Looking For Color

Rain on the roses accents their color...

on this misty morn in a yard...
a little lacking of color...
~

except for the hanging pots of Impatients...
~

or the few Phlox just here and there...
all...sprinkled with rain.

Last night just before the rain...
when the sun was heading down...

I headed to the back yard...
note the changing leaves with their
hint of color.

Near this bench...where we have camp fires...
in cooler weather...

I found the first one of many acorns to fall...

I also spotted our two friendly fawns...

who are growing a little cautious...

But that was last night...
Today I'm looking for color...there's
white Foam Flowers along the wood's edge

The Honeysuckle Bush does have red berries!

I cross the green field...
with it's taller brown grass in the back...

on my way to the woods...
and here on this steep hillside...

a colorful turtle...I find...
who looks a little weary to me...

Walking on...deeper into the woods...

I see a deer at the head of the path...
standing by an old familiar Beech tree.

~enlarges~

The Beech has very old carvings...
~a date of 1930 can be seen~

On my way back I take a different path...
one well tread by deer.

Along the way I find this Coral Fungus...
that looks edged with "blackberry" stain...

Farther along I come across
this colorful outcropping...
with it's "peaches" and "cream" coloration...

Blackberries, Peaches, and Cream
go good together...

especially in a Crisp!

So that's what I made....
Blackberry Peach Crisp!

But...I had mine without the cream...
~
It colored my world!

Soon my world will be colored by Autumn leaves!
Can you see the small leaves falling in the photo?

~enlarges~

If not.....try the video!

Of course walnuts are falling too!

That baby tried his best to stamp his feet hard enough to scare you away, didn't he! That little video is a perfect illustration of learning that discretion is the better part of valor!

Wanda:

What a beautiful property and you show all the season's highlights so well.

It truly is a joy to tend the same area of land and to be able to notice and love all the small changes that are taking place and that are harbingers of the bigger ones to come.

I love coming here and sharing your walks. It is so peaceful - and the treats afterwards are delicious!

Wanda...I like the song "True Colors" playing while I walk with you through your blog. I also love the fungi...very beautiful blog.

Hello Wanda,
We must have been posting at the same time! Normally I can pick a few photos that are my favorites, but you've outdone yourself with this offering! The acorn, the fungus, the CRISP! I loved the beautifully shaped tree in front of the field. Seeing your leaves (and walnuts) fall was magical. The fawns are always a treat...so I guess I'll just have to say "Thank You!" Such beauty.

Smiles for your weekend.

I went back and enlarged all your beautiful photos. I love it when I have time to sit and savor your posts!
The rose is perfect! Perfect color, perfect size, perfect rain droplets! 'Loved all the property photos especially the purple flowers with the fresh rain drops.
'Loved the video of the fawns, and they didn't seem all that afraid of Snow White!
'Loved the red berries on the green leaves, it made me think of holly! 'Loved the woods, loved that old tree, and loved the fungus that looked like beautiful flowers!
Especially loved the Crisp! And wanted a share of it (a BIG share!). And your daisy plate is so sweet (I probably mentioned that in another post). And the video of the 'raining leaves' was wonderful!

Thanks, Wanda, for another piece of Heaven!
Love,
Eileen

Hi Wanda,
I loved seeing the leaves fall and the hint of the leaves changing. I do miss those beautiful colors of fall, but I look foward to walking with you to see all the beauty of Fall.
Take care.

PS Forgot to mention - the turtle looks as though it has a hangover. Also - I see the curving lane still invites.

I loved your video's Wanda especially the one with the squirrel! And if you hadn't mention the year carved into that tree, I don't think I would have noticed it at all! You have an amazing talent Wanda for seeing things that others don't. I really think that's a gift.
If you don't mind me asking, what state do you live in? I understand if you don't want to answer. That crisp looked delicious but I think I would have had to have some vanilla ice cream on the side!
Love Di

Hello Wanda

and the world keeps spinning... and you keep showing us the evidence of it in you lovely, calm and mellow way...

Peach plus blackberries - what a novel combination and yummy too I bet. I could try peach and blueberry I suppose...there are no blackberries here...I wonder if boysenberries would be OK...

thanks Wanda for the excursion today and the company...

Happy days

This is just where I want to be right now. looking at all the beautiful sights and sounds of your sweet home....could use a piece of that blackberrie/peach crisp as well....oh to just be and dream my friend, this is a lovely post. I couldn't see the 1930...even enlarged...tell me where to look as these old eyes are failing me.

What a beautiful rose!
So you have bush honeysuckle too? They can be such a nuisance...they had spread all over the yard here..They say they tend to poison other things that grow around them. We had to cut ours back and part with a few...I didn't want to cut them all though because I know the birds eat the berries..
Your blackberry peach crisp looks delicious!!
Hugs........Jerelene

Thanks to everyone...I've been working outside on a small stone wall and can never catch up with replys. I am thankful for each and everyone of you that visit and leave such nice comments.

Diana, I thought you knew I live in Southwestern Ohio...and Bernie, cover the bottom half of the photo and 1930 can be seen just above the center line...19 has faded out
badly but 30 is fairly clear.

Raindrops do enhance color, don't they? And oh - the painted turtle. He was looking just a wee bit weary. How wonderful to savor summer as it wanes.

What a beautiful and thoughtful and lovely post! I loved it. How talented you are as a photographer and as an artist and poet to put it together. Words fail me to describe how delighted I was when I saw your comments and pictures.

I will be back for the beauty of your blog and the joy it brings to all.

I can't seem to stay caught up on commenting and thought I had already done so. Loved everything and it is true that you see so much and the wonder of that is that you let others see what we would ordinarily miss like that 1930 carving, but I did enlarge it and see it! Don't you wish you could know the history of that carving and if there was more to it?

Have had wild honeysuckle growing in my backyard before but I never watched for the berries so they were a nice surprise in your pictures.

So, you're still sticking with that living in southern Ohio stuff? Okay, well at least one of us knows you are really in Snow White's enchanted acreage...but I'll keep it a secret.

blessings and hugs always,

marcy
