Little Things

A sunrise of quiet colors...
greeted me one morning...over the field.

This morning...like almost every morning...
I was greeted by the fawns.
One was strolling and one was resting by the fence....
to the left of the drive.
I went out and they ventured closer.
~

Then they ran off down the field.
Some mornings...
the two can be found to the right of the drive...
standing in dappled shade...
~

...then sometimes the light hits one just right!...
~

Sometimes...
it's their family of three in the field...
eating apples from the ground.

~

~

The fawns like walking through the tall grass of the field...
sometimes resting there a bit.

~

This day though...
after they ate their small meal...they sauntered away!
~
But...
before entering the woods...the fawns did look back!

Some of our meals were lighter than others...

...to make up for treats we drank or ate!
Yes, it was Blackberry Crisp again...
...nothing changes...
it's my favorite...Herhusband's is cake.

The field and flowers are changing...
the Black-eyed Susans have really spread.

~all photos enlarge~

A few other things I happened upon....
a golden caterpillar in the rain...
3 acorns and leaves attacked to a twig...
a 'doll's eyes' seed head...
and a setting sun...while checking for mail

I prepared your senses
with the cute golden caterpillar above.
~
Now...
here is Goldenrod in the field...
try to appreciate
these
caterpillars too!
One was on a tomato plant...one stripped a parsley plant...
and one was on the water hose!

Remember...
they do turn into
~
these
beautiful Swallowtail Butterflies and Moths!

This was the last good apple hanging on the tree...
afterwards...I did pick it!
The roses and butterfly bushes are still blooming.
Seed pods are forming and the walnut tree...
is casting shadows on the barn.

Some of the walnuts are huge again this year!
I have counted 29 trees!

On the day I took these photos by the barn...
the sky looked like this!

I left the field that day and walked...
through the woods to Alivia's backyard.
Guess who I found playing basketball...
with her brother Nick.

They didn't see me coming...
so I got some candid shots.

Alivia got some good shots too!
Then finally she saw me!

One day...
while waiting for the school bus with her mom...
Alivia glanced down and found a Heart in her drive!

....and
Andrew found two hearts...after he rode his dirtbike
on a path through the woods...down to the creek!

I take that same path myself...
down to the creek.

My last visit there...I found this.

The creek bed was dry and had more fallen trees...
and grape vines pulled across.

I walked far...to where the banks leveled out...

.....before turning and heading back...
to where my home sits...just up the hill.
Passing under this log...

is where I found this Heart!

Now...along with the camera...I have two to carry.
I can go back up the way I came...but...

I turn right and take this way.
It's a little farther...but not as steep!

When I reach the top...I can go right...
deeper into the woods...or...

I can turn left and head straight home...
which is what I do!

On the path going home...I come across...
a fallen leaf stuck in the thick bark of a tree...

a long perfect roll of thin bark on the ground...

...and
a feather balanced on a moss covered log.

~Life Is Good~

~enjoy the little things~
~
like this Moth!

Oh Wanda,
I really wish I could see and enjoy the 'little things' in life as you do. You seem so content, and obviously surrounded by love and loveliness. Thank you for showing me all this beauty. I enjoyed my walk with you so much this morning. I am going to try to look for the 'little things' in my life today.

I CANnot believe how many heart-shaped rocks you find! And I learned the name "doll's eyes" from my stroll with you this morning! How aptly named...

Enjoy the days (and evenings) as the weather mellows out. This is MY favorite time of year (until spring comes).

So good to be included in all the simple goodness of your life. It is such a spirit-lifter. Thanks, Wanda.

You have such an amazing eye! I love the things you did with your pictures. BEAUTIFUL POST... It is just beautiful!

It's funny: I think we were kind of on the same mind set today. I did a post called "Life's little thrills." My post really has to do with how my daughter has grown.

Love your post!!!!

Have a beautiful day!

Hello Wanda,
I'm reading about your woods while looking out at mine. Now if only I had that blackberry crisp in MY kitchen! Doesn't that one fawn have the twitchiest white tail? I'm trying to pick a favorite photo but it's hard: I like the tiny heart you found with the little fold in the middle. The mosaic with the acorns reminds me so much of the beginning of fall. (And I see you even found a heart leaf in another mosaic!) I'm glad I got to visit you today, Wanda. To see the beauty of Nature through your eyes is special. (PS Thank you for your poetic comment!)

Wanda each time I visit I am taken into a world of a little fantasy. If ever anyone is having a rough day, all they have to do is open op your blog and read a post. It doesn't matter which post either. I feel blessed to have come across you and enjoy your blog for over the past year, probably longer! Thank you so much for your thoughtful and always giving of yourself in all that you see in life. I thought of you when we were camping and spotted a heart shaped rock in the river bed, I am sure I took a pic of it! But can't seem to come across it...hugs and smiles as always...

I love that your grand~children live so near; what wonderful memories they will have to share with their grand~children.

Oh how I loved this entire post...from the darling little deer and their parent to all of the lovely hearts you've found. What a nice walk among the trees and ferns...what lovely photos you've taken.

Oh yes, enjoy the little things, I like that. Too often big things obscure and complicate. I also watch deer every day from my garden and on walks, but have only ever seen two stags. The largest herd I've seen was twenty seven with two young stags tussling for dominance, their antlers, last week, no longer than about ten inches. They graze amongst sheep, cattle and horses quite happily but seem to sense long before they could see or hear the presence of a human and her dog...

Beautiful photos as always, Wanda. Especially love those fawns...and the photos of the blue skies and puffy clouds. I've noticed the skies more this summer than anytime I can remember. Some are simply breath-taking, aren't they?

I loved my walk today. It is so nice to see through your eyes as I have a tendency to miss things. The hearts are proof of the love and beauty that abounds in your woods. Your pohoto collages are very well put together. I hope to try to do one someday..perhaps after I get a better camera. I look forward to looking through your eyes again soon to hopefully experience fall in your woods.

Really lovely.
I enjoyed the way Mama deer kept her eye on you! Great video!
And I enjoyed the photos of the grandkids too, very beautiful family! Jayden lost a tooth this past Summer but Alivia lost four! (I've been reading back a little, I've missed so much!)
I loved seeing the pictures from Ireland, and how wonderful that you now have Irish heart rocks! I can't get over how these beautiful rocks find your whole family!

I've so enjoyed visiting here again, Wanda!
Love to you,
Eileen
PS ~ I'm still having trouble with my blog but I got here through Diana's blog. My family is coming this weekend so I'm hoping one of them can figure out something for me!

Wanda,
It's always a special treat when you post! The fawns are getting big aren't they? So lucky you are to have their company on a daily basis. Is that blueberry shortcake with your coffee? Looks so good & love your mug with "enjoy the little things," such a great message when you're enjoying a cup of coffee & a yummy dessert!
Oh, thanks for the sweet comment you left on my blog Wanda :) warmed my heart... thanks!

I have been house bound for a while so this walk was a special treat.
I do hope hunters do not get those babies.
I am amazed at how many hearts you find. You all have a talent for those and 4 leaf clovers.
Those meals are going to make my oatmeal seem cruel. Thanks.
But truly, thank you for another great walk.

I love seeing your fawns :o) The deer love the apples from our two apple trees...we were told the deer would eat them but hubby planted them anyway...at least it helps with cleaning them up from the ground...the deer are back down from the foothills, another sign of summer's end. And another very lovely post!

Thank you for my dose of serenity this morning, Wanda. It's wonderful to hear someone admitting that life is wonderful and we can be content with a few essential and simple things: Fawns wandering into our garden, children playing in the yard and a plate of freshly cooked food.

Enjoy your days!
