Discovering frosty mornings are regular happenings now.....
weighing down the dried wheat colored remains of the field.
However...
the leaves of the raspberry vines cling to their redness.
The trees in the front yard are mostly bare...
with a few squirrel nests here and there.
With the leaves gone...large...but once hidden nests come into view.
Discovered this one over the drive...it's quite an elaborate one too!
With their thin skim of ice...the bird baths remind us...
they are in need of their heating aid.
Some grasses in the field still stand tall in the mornings.....
...often under thick buttermilk skies!
Out back...a change in temperature often brings...
a thick mist drifting up from the valleys below.
Out of those same valleys...
a few of these drift their way here too!
Do you see him?
On this one...we counted 10 points...
I hope he makes it through the hunting season.
On the morning of November 24th...the sky was blazing!
It would have been my Mother's 86th birthday!
Just after she passed...on June 4th of 2007...
this poem was written by oldest granddaughter, Amanda.
On the 25th...Thanksgiving Day...
family gathered and watched a beautiful 3D movie...
"Under The Sea"
...filmed in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef.
~ blurry photo because of 3D ~
A Thanksgiving Dinner was enjoyed by all...
...along with...maybe too many desserts!
My grandchildren also enjoyed the new computer.....
discovering a web cam program that distorted their faces!
I did some "very extreme" laughing!
Here's just a few of the silly shots!
My grandchildren may keep me laughing...
...but this recently received mail art...
from a friend in Kauai, Hawaii...
made me smile!
Inside was a small cloth wrapped package.....
.....in which I discovered a delicate heart...
from the Beach of Hanalei Bay...where she walks!
On the 28th...
Delwyn became a grandmother for the first time!
~ Thank You to All My Friends ~

Hello Wanda, Maybe your Mother's spirit came to visit you briefly in that gorgeous morning sky! She had a lovely smile - much like your own. I see you're getting frost and even ice crystals. It's snowing here in Breckenridge as I write this. The snowflakes are falling slowly in rhythm with your piano music. I'm happy to know Delwyn is a Grandmother - a new phase now begins in her life. That is a precious heart she sent to you.
Dearest Wanda=
the gentle beauty of this post has touched me so. The pictures are lovely - and your natureland continues to inspire me. And your Mom's birthday, November 24th - so much to celebrate - so much to desire. The feel here is so comforting - your heart is so open that I am one with you in this moment today - "thank you"
Love Gail

Lovely pictures! Love the ones of the frost especially. Stay warm!

What a nice walk I had with you today...your ability to see the beauty and sweet simplicity of nature is a gift and I am so glad you share it with us so creatively. I really like the way you displayed memories of your mom. She looks like she was a wonderful mom. And the mail art you recieved is awesome...what fun to exchange art like that. Perhaps one day I will join an exchange.I think I will go back and walk through our peaceful woods one more time. :) Dee
Your photos are stunning.
What a wonderful tribute to your mother.
Such a pretty post and I really loved Amanda's beautiful poem. All so touching.
It looks like you enjoyed a very nice Thanksgiving! And it looks like you all had lots of fun!
A very nice memory for you, Wanda.
I know your Mom's birthday must have been hard for you, so it's nice that you could gather your family around you the next day.
Loved all your photos, thanks for sharing your little piece of the world with us again!
Love to you,
Eileen
PS ~ You look a lot like your Mom. Two beautiful women!
Lovely photos, Wanda, and it looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful week ahead.
Such a lovely walk with you again, Wanda. Your Thanksgiving looks wonderful. It is so good to experience and know about good times when so much of the world is in turmoil. The heart from Hawaii is lovely, both in itself and its meaning.
What an awesome little heart Wanda, I love hearts too! We had a few flurries on Thanksgiving Day, did you have any? I understand you thinking about your mom, I unwrapped my mom's Christmas wreath today, didn't cry but had to sit for awhile.
That buck sure was a beauty! I hope he makes it through the season.
Looks like we had the same dinner!
Katie and I have those web cams on our computers, they are fun! Love you, Di ♥
I am always touched when I come here....but the part of your blog that touched me the most was the poem and photo of your Mom.
I hug you...and am glad that we have so many wonderful Thanksgivings in our hearts...as well as those that we can physically see and touch.
May your holiday be a blessed one.
Love,
Jackie
what a beautiful post. so many spectacular photos: the close up of the squirrels nest, buttermilk skies & 'THE 10 POINT BUCK'- i'm jealous of this one, :)- are my favorites... the poem written by Amanda for your mother (i'm sorry for your loss) was beautiful. i almost cried reading it. i've seen Under the Sea twice and loved it both times. it's a sentimental favorite of mine. and one cannot close without saying i'm glad you had such a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of laughs too.
Hello my friend, just another wonderful post. I love it all but that sky is breathtaking. I don't know Delwyn but I love her for sending you that heart, it is so beautiful and soooo you. Amanda's poem brought tears to my eyes and I find you look like your mom. OMG Wanda those deserts, how long did it take to eat them or did you put some in the freezer. Everything looks so good. I had special vistors this morning, will e-mail after Terry goes home on Wed. okay. Sending my love to all of you and a special big hug to Amanda and Alivia.....xo
Enjoyed every single pic, every single word; especially that stag of course. That harsh chilly beauty of winter is still melting hearts, and everyday is a little thanksgiving all it's own. Thank you for showing us.
Wanda what a wonderful post! It was so heart touching to read. Great photos too. Sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for.
Hugs from mamabug!!!
I should have put a heavier coat on while walking through your property. It's rather cold out there! I so did enjoy our winter walk, much different than a month ago, but just as beautiful, with the winter skies, and deer coming in close, letters and hearts from far away friends, silly grandkids to warm up your days! What a wonderful post. Thanks for taking me with you...debbie
Lovely photos, Wanda! I hope that buck keeps his head low during hunting season. We have just had a big helping of snow - very early this year and the temps are just barely making it back up to around zero during the day - if we are lucky.
You sure have a knack for art. Very nice - All the photos! - especially the funny faces. Priceless.
Good job.
Mr. Buck - Good luck.
What a lovely post. I am feeling a bit tired today, probably did a bit more than I should have, One never learns, but Christmas is approaching fast and there is much to do.
Lovely photos, especially the sunrise, almost like your mother was reaching out to you. Amanda's poem is lovely and a wonderful tribute to her grandmother. It's easy to see that the love of nature has been passed down from generation to generation.
I love the package you recieved with the heart, that is wonderful, the walks you take us on are so awesome. glad you had such a wonderful time. I am sure you missed your Mom..so glad your granchildren were all their. It really seemed like a wonderful day...I hope that deer makes it through hunting season too. hugs and love, c
Hi Wanda, Thanks for dropping by my blog so that I could find your lovely blog. I have thorougly enjoyed my visit!
a very gentle and loving post. I'm so glad I stopped by. I too am originally from Ohio but now live in NC...
Loved that poem and can see that you got your love of nature from your Mom. So glad you are passing that love on to your Grands.
What a lovely heart from so far away.
I need to look into that distorted face program. Looks like a ton of fun.
Thanks again for a wonderful walk.
What a lovely walk with you. The remembrance of your mother just glowed wuth love. Pippin the cat is staring at the computer as the music plays and purring in my arms. He's touched also.
Wanda.
Your posts with beautiful photos and stories always make my heart warm. I see that a cold and beautiful winter is getting close to your woods. I like to think of the birds that grew in their nests have enjoyed chirping and trilling in your woods.
Your mother had a beautiful smile. *The photo with the poem, the dried flowers and a pretty necklace* touches me・・・. She was happy to have a beloved family like you.
I can see your fence with many decoration leaves. How pretty! That is good matching to the view of your woods.
I came back from a trip to a beach today. While walking on the beach I enjoyed finding small beautiful stones!
Tomoko .
Each and every photo is lovely with your words, as always. I especially like the photo of glorious morning sky (the greetings by your loved deceased mother)and the tenth one in which different patterns of the barks of trees, gold, yellow, brown, green leaves, and a stag with fine antlers (hope he will survive!) make a perfect scene. In the second photo, the frosted leaves look like sugar coated dried fruits. Look delicious.
I'm happy for you, Wanda,... your life has been filled with so many smiles. I'm happy for Delwyn, too. She must be having a good time in Japan now.
I like the new look of your blog, and of course all your pictures are superb, as usual. And that little heart, well, it touched mine! Thank you for this lovely post.
Hi Wanda,
Another beautiful post. Your words and pictures always express warmth and love that comes from your heart. So, that heart was certainly a beautiful gift, just for you.
Have a wonderful day.
Smiles to you.
Wanda, I wish winter was gradual in its arrival here, ha! It always hits with a bang, in autumn. Delwyn's mail art is so lovely. Nov. 25th both my grandmothers passed away, a year apart, so it is a bittersweet day for me. Lovely photos and post as always! I had to smile at all those desserts! Who could choose?! Good reason to sample them all!
I love how you went from frosty cold to toasty warm with this post.
Wanda. This lovely walk soothed my soul today.
Thank you for that.
The buttermilk sky picture...what a wonderful image.
Your photography, your words, your sharing, your calm and lovely peace.
This post was a Thanksgiving all by itself.
Thank you.
The thin layer of snow makes everything look so beautiful. We are still dealing with warm weather. Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. I love the little heart your friend sent you.
Wanda,
I hope your buck makes it thru hunting season, too. He is beautiful. Glad to see you had an enjoyable thanksgiving with your family. Did you make all those desserts?! Love your frozen bird bath. I am enjoying a break from the chilly weather, visiting my family in southern California... it is good to see them & the sunshine as well!
Enjoy the season.
What lovely photos...the sky photo was outstanding! Thanksgiving was a nice day for family and visiting. And I didn't overdo it either! The tiny heart is a delight!
Awesome photos, Wanda...that sky, those clouds, that buck and that frozen birdfeeder..just wonderful!!!
...the little tiny heart from the beach is adorable. How lucky she spotted it and sent it to you! The photo of the frost on the raspberry leaves is gorgeous. Rick tells me snow is on the way this weekend...it will be beautiful if it sticks.
Wanda: Thanks for stopping by my humble blog. I enjoy your beautiful pictures. I don't know how I've managed to stay away from blogworld so long, but I'm having a great time browsing all your posts. Thank you for bringing nature to us on your blog.
I love those frosts that make all of Nature sparkle, and the soft mists that burn off with the sun as it rises. Autumn is a beautiful time of year.
It's lovely to hear the laughter of children isn't it!
I'm glad you all had a good Thanksgiving.
xox
Frost in pictures is always very very beautiful. Totally calm after seeing your beautiful pictures I'm off to make another cup of warm tea. Sending some sweet snowflakes your way, Wanda ***x***x***
How thoughtful of your friend to send a heart shaped rock from Hawaii!
June 4th is a significant day for me too...it was my beloved Grandma's birthday...she lived to be 93 and we were very close. My Grandpa died on her birthday in '77. Strange the dates you remember.
What a treasure, that poem from Amanda.
Everytime I see a deer around here Wanda, I think of you and your fabulous property...and I hope they make it through hunting season too!
What a lovely blog you have! Thanks so much for sharing the beautiful moments that make up your life! Such a beautiful morning on November 24 - your Mom probably asked God to send it straight to you. And that stag - amazing... such magnificent creatures. I have become your newest follower.
Please join me at my history blog - I'd love to have you along!
Blessings!
Ann
Wanda I love all the photos and I love the photos of hearts in nature. I collect heart rocks.Hope you have a lovely holiday season.
It was nice to get such a sweet peek into your world, Wanda.
I love the dreamy quality of your newest mail art piece. I was lucky to find a heart shaped rock on my recent trip.
Wanda that is such a beautiful post! I love the poem that your granddaughter wrote. It was beautiful! Your post just make me smile and sigh and that grand buck just gave me shivers...I wish I could see that every day. hugs and smiles....
Hi Wanda!
Oh this is such a touching post.
I read the entire poem about your mother. How beautiful to remember her this way ~
"There's beauty in making it through"
The sunrise was such a gift that morning ~ just for you ~
Now that heart ♥ How touched you must have been to receive it along with such special, special news!
Enjoy this weekend, Wanda~ Bless you always * and your beautiful family ~
*Maria
Just had to stop by to get my "Wanda fix"...your photography may be of frosty days, but it always warms my heart!! Sounds like you've had some beautiful family times!! So glad! Love, Janine XO
Chilly but charming! I can almost hear the crisp crunch of your feet walking on frosty ground. :)
I think you must be the most amazing person to know! Your sense of art is just awesome...I love all that you do...photography and the beautiful collages of time moments, food etc...you have such an eye. Your love of your grandchildren is evident...they are cute and fun! I love mine the same way though they are younger. Love to laugh with them and enjoy the moment. And the friends you have tells what kind of person YOU are...to send you a heart when she becomes a grandparent...thinking of you on the beach...wow! What a wonderful life,...huh?
Beautiful scenes. Frozen bird bath, 10 pt buck (would be called 5 point in the west), sunset... And poignant memories of your mother's birthday. Love hearing about your grandchildren and seeing the wheels keep on turning.
Wanda, my 14 yr. old looked at your photos with me. Both of us admiring them until the pics of the grandkids...which cracked us up. Your photos though are amazing..
Your beautiful photos ALMOST opened a window of welcome to winter in my heart...ALMOST. Not quite. Together with the sweet background music, they provided a soothing respite and "distraction" (which along with "rest" is a recommended prescription for shingles) for me.
I love that buttermilk sky and the blazing red sunrise, just lovely! I cannot see the first two pictures, that's because I'm using my old computer. A virus caused trouble on my regular computer and it's in the shop now to get it fixed. That's why I'm a little behind on my reading!
What a beautiful group of photos.
Breathtaking photography! As usual. I always feel like I am visiting a unique, mystical spa resort when I visit your blog. So much creativity and rejuvenation; peace and beauty. Thank you!
Checking in to see how your "Moments" are passing...I hope with with returning health, continuing beauty, inner peace & contentment, and sweet family joys.
