Cautious...Doing Well...Delighted

There have been a few intermittent days of sun between...
drenching days of rain. It has rained 18 of the past 23 days!

~all photos enlarge~

It has been a 'VERY WET' Spring!
Walking down my favorite path has been...
a slippery exercise of caution!

The Fern Valley Path takes me past Alivia's Treasure Tree!

This is looking back from a level area to the path up the hillside...
that I just traveled down...coming from the backyard.

I can always find picturesque mushrooms in this area...
on the old fallen trees and stumps.

This is another favorite hillside that's behind the garden in the field.
It overlooks a creek and is fairly steep...but deer have made paths...
that make it manageable.

The turtles manage the climb and seem to like it here too.
This was a very small one I discovered there.

Three others that I have come across.....since I last posted.
I try to keep an ongoing list of individual turtles...
by comparing their shell designs.  NOT- a simple task!

On returning home one day...this is what greeted me!
Very cute, but very helpless and seemed to have left the nest a little too soon for it's own good.

Herhusband gently placed the Titmouse back for a few more days of maturing. See it peeping out? Maybe...it's learned...
...to be cautious.

When I last posted...the covering of leaves was just barely there.

Later...the Locust and Honeysuckle blooms came in thick!

Here's a sampling of wild flowers appearing in the woods.

They spread and thicken more and more each year!

I've naturalized some to my flower garden.
The yellow Two-flowered Cynthia...the red Fire Pink...
& the blue Spiderwort are doing well.

Mr. Toad returned and is doing well too!

The Indigo Bunting returns to the feeder each Spring...
but mostly stays deep in the woods during Summer.

The Flickers are year round visitors. These two played hide-and-seek and danced around this Dogwood tree for twenty minutes.

I wish my Iris, Poppies and Roses were year round visitors. At least...unlike the Iris and Poppies... the Roses will bloom all summer!

A few other sightings were of the Goodyear Blimp, a baby squirrel, Pileated Woodpecker, a Bluebird couple, an 'expectant' mother deer, a resting Dove...
 and a visiting Grandson Grant...
(who's doing very well...along with his Uncle Rick)!

A few of the meals prepared here and there.

Desserts are fruity this time of year.
Strawberry-Kiwi Shortcake &
Mango-Peach-Pecan-Delight Cake!

I was delighted to see a heart-shaped light coming through...
at the top of this old dead tree!

...and...
I was extremely delighted to see this cautious tiny fawn
creeping into my flower garden.

More on the fawn and his 'adventurous' first few days of life!
In my next post of course!

...what a beautiful post, Wanda! I loved everything...the tiny fawn...the baby bird...the little heart! This has been the strangest spring. Friday when the sun came out, it was weird. I've almost grown so accustomed to the clouds and low light, the sun felt (almost) a little too intense! Did you survive last night's storms...they were ferocious! I love a good thunder storm, though!

Hi Wanda,
so nice to see the green of spring & the blooms of color! I use walking sticks for the steeper trails- they have saved me more than once! Your little bird is so cute- I hope he makes it! Love your tree heart. I have been hiking one trail by my house- I see hearts everywhere there.... but maybe it is just me. I pick them up & put them in a place where maybe others can see them too. Glad to know you are doing well.

It's starting to look like a tropical jungle there, Wanda :)

I enjoyed seeing the different patterns on the turtle shells - and always marvel at the color of those indigo buntings.

Your posts are full of beauty and wonder. I hope the sun continues to shine and you continue to show us your beautiful neck of the woods.

Your woods are magical Wanda.
So much to see, and each visit offers new experiences.
I envy you all the wild flowers and the beautiful birds.
Our Spring is wet as well, the lawn is lush with violets and forget-me- nots, dandelions too if I am honest!
This long weekend marks our unofficial start of Summer, and we celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday.
I love the Indigo Bunting BTW..!
hugs

It was lovely to walk with you through the woods and see all the lovely wildflowers blooming. Ours have not started to bloom yet, although this last week so much is poking up out of the ground and growing very quickly. That little Titmouse is so cute. I imagine he won't stay long in the nest but is an adventurous sort.

As to when the birds start singing here with the long daylight hours, I'm not really sure if they stop at all. I hear some singing loudly at midnight and of course they are singing when I get up in the morning. I'll try to find more information on the question now that you've got me thinking on it.

Your world is truly magical, Wanda! It's amazing to see how rapidly your forest grows as soon as the warmer weather has set in. The difference between mid-winter and now is incredible. There is so much life everywhere and such breathtaking beauty it cannot but translate into making one feel delighted to be alive to enjoy it all. Thank you so much for sharing it all with us and for taking the considerable time and care you obviously invest in your posts to point out all those special moments and scenes, so we are able to enjoy them along with you!

Big hug,
Des xoxo

Wanda, am happy to see a new post from you as always! How fun to see the wildflowers, turtles, birds and one over-zealous would-be fledgling, and the mushrooms, forest, and of course Mr. Toad! :o) The flickers pass thru the Black Hills very briefly, and I've never seen an indigo bunting. Lovely, interesting post!

Hello Wanda,

Lovely walk as always. I am always amazed at your ability to find a heart wherever you go.

The wildflowers are beautiful as are the ones blooming in your gardens.

The turtles look like the have hand prints on their shells...so cute.

That baby fawn...I am hoping the moms bring their babies back to my garden again this year.

As always your meals looks so yummy.

I love walking with you Wanda...thank you for bringing us along.

Have a lovely week

Wanda,
I always enjoy coming to your beautiful world. I couldn't get over the mushrooms, they remind me of corrals. I am in awe of your beautiful garden, so bright and a beautiful variety of flowers. Thank you for sharing your world.
I am glad to hear that Rick and Grant are doing better.
Does Alivia still want Kitty Cat's Adventures?
Big Smiles!

What a wonderful post, but nothing new there! I always feel that way after a walk through your world. It amazes me that Ohio is getting as much rain as we are here in the PNW. And the little fawn? So sweet!

Hello Wanda
Join the club - we had a very wet summer followed by a very wet autumn and now it looks like we are in for a very wet winter.
Not grumbling tho (well maybe a little) after all the years of drought we went through it was welcome - to begin with- now its welcome is wearing thin lol
I really enjoy your photography especially the birds - many of them different to ours - love that blue one. It has such a bright coat - is it a male?
Take care
Cathy

I'd love to take a walk in the spring woods. Our heat and drought makes your rain sound good. We all need a happy medium.
Love the mosaics. The turtles are great. I'm so glad you post multiple photos of wild things so we can see them from all angles.

Hello Wanda, I've been thinking of you here in CA (have your ears been ringing?). What a treasure trove of spring photos you've posted! I am delighted by the red-eyed turtles that seem to be glaring at you and by the baby bird. Those mushroom shots are magical - so many different types. I had "tree mushrooms" in a fancy CA restaurant and they looked like the little stick ones you photographed. Glad Grant is well enough to ride his motorcycle again. PS I have to admit that I enlarged the dessert photos twice...

Hi Wanda!
Oh there's so much here for the eyes and heart to enjoy...
Your sweet little titmouse... how cute the babies are!
The ferns are sooo lush ... a little benefit from all of our rain... lots and lots of green!

I love all the wildlife, even Mr. Toad and all the turtles ;o)
The heart in the tree is really one of the best ... even though we look for them, they are always such a surprise to find!
Wishing you well, Wanda ~ God bless you and your husband... and your whole circle of love ♥

Hello,Wanda!
So many lovely photos! I am so pleased to enjoy your early summer with your lots of greens, wild pretty flowers, cute turtles, birds and frog, the young deer! I enlarged all of your photos.
Actually, I saw a same type of cute woodpecker, which was posted on your post, on TV by chance the other day. I was so pleased to find that the woodpecker with black and red color live in Hokkaido which is the biggest northern island in Japan. I am hoping the young deer will grow! Thank you for your deliscious meals!
Tomoko.

18 rainy days out of 23 days? That’s wet more than enough: the weather must have been on the side of growing plants including mushrooms. Your Locust flower look like our wisteria, but wisteria are climbers. All the wild flowers are just lovely.

Nice to see him again, Mr. Toad, I see something divine in him. Indigo Bunting is impressive and Fawn is cute. In Nara Park, this year’s first fawn was born two weeks ago and childbirth rush will last till summer.

I’m so glad with the arrival of spring both in your woods and at your home. Your hand-maid desserts made my mouth water.

Cheers to your family, and to spring!
With smiles, Yoko.

*sigh* That's all I can say to this vision of paradise. Absolutely beautiful, your photos of your wonderful world.

I love getting a breath of your abundant spring-summer. We are still inching toward spring here so your photos are wonderful! What stunningly gorgeous flowers. I love the titmouse chick, and I'm so glad that your husband rescued him. Our birds haven't even started scoping out the birdhouses (it has snowed a total of several feet here in the past few weeks).

The one thing that I'm not jealous of is the mushrooms. Your forest would be deadly for my silly Labradors who eat wild mushrooms. Fortunately, for us, we have only a few species and they don't sprout until August.

Oh, and the fawn.... Awwwww.

With all that has been going on, I really needed this gentle walk. Thanks you Wanda.
Your place is beginning to look as lush as a rain forest. One nice benefit from these incessant rains.
Gosh, I hope Momma deer is close by.

Wow! what wonderful pictures you have and the flowers are just spectacular! All that rain has not hurt your gardens one bit! I love taking these walks with you. :) They make me want to get out into our woods, clean them out and garden. ~ That baby Titmouse ~ how cute it is. I can't wait to see the post on the fawn.

I love your blog!!! It's so beautiful!

Really pretty post, Wanda!
I loved all the photos but the flower mosaics, the Indigo Bunting, and the close-up of the baby bird took my breath away!
And, of course, I love that you found another heart, and I love ALL THE FOOD! And I should make sure to come here BEFORE I've eaten my allotted calories for the day!

It was nice to be here, and soothing, I have so much going on here that my head is spinning, so this peaceful blog of yours is a God-send. Thank you.
Love and Prayers,
Eileen
PS ~ I hope things have calmed down for you and your family and I hope everyone is well.

Hi Wanda! oh so beautiful! I am always amazed at the hearts that find you! It isn't a coincident because I have looked and looked as I have walked and no hearts...so it is for you only that they just POP where ever you go! I am blessed to have found your blog...it is comforting and always makes me smile. Sweet Alivia will be keeping you busier soon...school is out...I can't wait to see your adventures together. hugs...

So much beauty! There is so much to take in. How blessed you are to enjoy on a regular basis all of the birds and wildlife. I love your photos. I was particulary enamored by the little tufted titmouse. I have never seen one so close. "O LORD, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures." Psalm 104:24

That little Titmouse is just gorgeous! We have a turtle or two cross our property at a certain time each year, going from the pond next door to the ponds the other side...they stop for a swim half way in our bird bath, which is on the ground!

In this spring of horrific weather, this was an oasis of sweetness. For even with the constant rain (I think our drought is over), one must take the loveliness and beauties when we can.

Hello Wanda! One of your wonderful and amzaing walks. All those flowers and animals and birds. It's so fantastic. There's an orchid among the wild flowers in the wood.
It was so good that you took care of that little bird.
That toad is so impressive. Doesn't he look like some toad from a fairy tale? Give him a kiss and he'll turn into a prince. Well it was a frog, but....

I love all your pictures from your
world. And I love the desserts. Uhm I'm hungry and I haven't got anything in the freezer.

Looking forward to know more about the lovely young deer.
Cheers

Well things look beautiful there Wanda and I suppose all of that rain has helped. It's been very HUMID here and hot. But plants are all doing well. That little Titmouse was so adorable. What a precious face! And tose turtles are all so unique, I find that amazing. We have seen no signs of Mr. Toad here. But I readied his spot just in case!! It's was nice to see how beautiful things are there by you Wanda. Glad you are doing good and hope everyone else is as well. Love Di ♥

What an enchanting walk. So much rain did bring out the green and the lovely wild flowers. During our 3-weeks trip to France we only had 10 minutes of rain, that’s all. They are desperate for rain there. I have never seen an Indigo Bunting – what a pretty bird. Mr. Toad looks like a wise old man. Certainly this was a delightful tour with you Wanda.

Just stopping by to say Hi :) and tell you I think of you every morning now... There is a deer that grazes in my yard early in the morning. This is at my kitchen window. I have yet to get a good picture of her ~ I wonder every morning what she is eating. I want to get more of whatever it is. It is so sweet to see her and I find myself getting up before the sun just to see her come. My husband laughs at me and says how happy he is the Simple things make me so very happy. ~

I hope you are all doing well.
