Remnants of Christmas!

Christmas Day 2009 may be over....

and a cold winter air has settled in.
~

Still.....there's some Christmas leftovers....

and among them.....my favorite snowmen....

Could stay in and be warmed by the fire.....

or take a walk in the woods...in the snow.....

which would leave me.....thankfully tired....

for all those calories....I would burn...I know.

So on with the boots, scarf, hood, and, gloves.....

and out the back door....to venture and find.....

what might be on the grounds or above.....
or just in this imagination.....of mine.

Went to the top of the hill.....
Looked to my left and then right.....

did find a little church steeple....

and foot prints left in the night!

Some small prints were intermingled.....

Some?..... were they feathered or furred???

One.....was only a grape vine tendril.....

maybe knocked from above by a squirrel.

Returned home.....and warmed up with coffee.

There's remnants of Christmas.....everywhere.....

Snowmen by the towels you can see...

and even one by.....the kitchen ware!

There's children's past artwork still hanging....

all reminders that Santa was here!

Candy canes in cups are still dangling....

bringing back all those thoughts so dear!

Gifts for Alivia.....were a soft pink blanket....

....a book and a pink.....reclining chair.

She read of a little boy's lost mitten....

and animals that were willing to share.

Christmas was sweet and peaceful.....

with beautiful scenes of snow!

Making Wanda.....all the more thankful.....

for the Village of Bloggers....she's come to know!

Visiting

I just want to thank everyone for brightening
my day this past year of blogging
...time goes by fast....visiting with good friends.
The day I took this photo.....
we woke to our first good snowfall.

Of course the flakes weren't really this large...
some of the grandchildren helped with
making these several years ago...
but the snow was covering everything.

~

I had gone out early that morning for a walk.
It was just after dawn,
no noticeable sunrise though...but
earlier in the week there were noticeable turkeys
visiting in the field...just beyond the fence.

The snow was clinging to the trunks of the Oak trees...

and making the Bamboo bow to it's knees.
The morning was very quiet....

I saw no movement in the field...
it seemed deserted...
and cold.....
as I stood under the draping leaves.

Looking back across the field...
I could barely see the house.....
it blended right in.....
there was a fine misty snow falling!

As I walked back...
smoke from the chimney.....
told me Herhusband was putting wood on the fire!
It was time to go in and leave the cold.

But first....
Remember the visiting turkeys I mentioned....
the ones in the field
just beyond the fence....
Well.....there were about
35 of them visiting that day.

And.....here's
one lone Dove who visited for quite awhile....
also...that same day....

before taking off and flying away!

I hope none of my Blogging Friends fly away!
Please keep visiting....it makes my day!

Merry Christmas to All of You!

Love.....Wanda

That Tree

Angels and boxes of ornaments were waiting for me....
they shouldn't be here...they should be on that tree.

I went through the boxes as you will soon see...
while Alivia was busy, relieving the pizza...of it's cheese.
~

I had already gathered and placed the snowmen.....
~

I especially like this one.....here by the hen!
~

Father Christmas looked lonely.....all by himself.....
~

Here's our Christmas stockings.....mine is on the left.

I once sewed together...this famous Christmas Fable.....
~

and repurposed a decoration.....
....to make a centerpiece for my table.

The smell of fresh pine.....I thought it would help.....

and also these angels.....high up on the shelf.

The wreath had been hung...high on the chimney....

the bears found their place.....ones my daughter had given me.

The lights on the staircase were strung there by me.....

Soooo.....
Why haven't I finished.....decorating that tree???

When I woke this morning....there was something to discover...

A dusting of snow.....the drive.....it had covered.

It put me in the mood immediately.....to just go.....and finish that tree!

But first I'll have...

some mincemeat pie.....and just a bit more.....of good coffee.

Then I must go and finish that tree.....
or little Miss Alivia.....may be upset with me!

Here's the fair angel.....we put on the very top...

and the two mice.....that I like a lot!

Here's a few things at the base of the tree....

and the Santas....my mother.....once made for me!

Pinch their cheeks..........and they will give you a kiss.

~Hershey Kiss~

Here's a few others.....don't want you to miss.

For as you can see.....

I finished.....decorating that tree.

And...
that makes two...there's one upstairs...you see!

and then downstairs.....is number three....

Granddaughter Alivia decorated.....that tree!
