Thank You Everyone!

~Tiger Swallowtail~

This poem expresses, in me a need,
to tell my visitors of a feeling of glee.
Moments of Mine...has come you see,
to the 100th post.....created by me.

Daughter, Annette...first planted the seed,
of starting a blog, that others might read.
Writing about...butterflies, birds, and bees
or just of the faces...I may see in the trees.

This blog has brought so much to me,
warm friendly people, whose blogs I read.
Some give advice... we all should heed
and others post...their meaningful deeds.

My "Village" place is very special to me,
so many friends...it's hard to conceive.
All leave their comments...for me to read;
I've even made friends.....across the sea!

You Bloggers are special...this I believe.
Always returning...just like my weeds!
I want to say thanks and with it please,
all my good wishes for you to receive.

In the Middle

Blackberry Lilies in the middle of Daisies...
here in the middle of summer!

In the middle of last week, I headed down

the drive and then into the field...

where over by the barn...

along the tree line, is an opening in an

old barbed wire fence that borders the field.

From this area, you can see the creek...

far below...just under these old fallen trees.

I prefer to go down an easier way...just to the left.

Once all the way down,

I decide to walk in the middle of the creek.

I gathered just a few interesting rocks...

for a group photo!

This heart-shaped rock...
I need to go back and retrieve...because...

I had a long walk ahead of me...too

far to carry a 5 lb. rock.

It was hard enough to maneuver the middle of ...

the creek bed and obstacles in the way.

Of course there were many more rocks...

I had to pass up and walk on by...

The creek widens in places...with more
sunlight filtering through...
creating peaceful scenes.

Looking up, one can see towering trees...
balanced...just at the edge.

Walking on...I see another obstacle...
in my way...this one I can go under...

and as I go under, a bone comes into view...
possibly from a deer's ribcage I'm thinking...

which causes my imagination to run wild...
and I start seeing things...
like a wolf laying in wait...
maybe...

which makes me feel like running down
the middle of the creek...
but...
it's blocked!

After more obstacle maneuvering...
I come across this little blue flower...

~Jacob's Ladder ~

it's in another more open and brighter area...
where the hillside slowly rises...
and a good place for me to exit...
the middle of the creek.

If you enlarge the next photo
and look closely...
you can see Scooby Doo...
in the middle...at the top...
so...yes, I know where I am!

Coming to the top of the hill...
I reach another familiar tree...so I know...
I'm almost home!

Finally, after my long 2 hour walk...
in the middle of the creek...
I arrive at the opposite end of the field.

where I find a Monarch Butterfly...
in the middle of the
Virginia Mountain Mint flowers...

Drenched

Today everything was drenched with rain.

This was happening here "yesterday"...
the field was full of bees and dry and green...

~

Two large male deer...both with antlers...

visited with a pear tree...

squirrels were eating green tomatoes in the sun...

...huge billowy clouds drifted by...

and you could lay in the hammock or...
~
sit a while in the swing...but one day...
~
makes a big difference...

Today....everything was drenched!

Now this was last Friday...
~
it was an overcast day...but dry...

I captured this large deer back in the woods...
~
but as soon as he saw me...

...he leaped and left!

Later I walked across the field to this
~
old wooden gate...the woods were darker
~
than usual because of the sunless day.

I took a path that leads...

to steep hillsides....

where I found this curry yellow mushroom...

and this pleated looking white one...

walking further on...I found this...

rather frightened looking tree...

looking right back at me.

Maybe the tree had seen this...

...a few feet away...

a long white-striped snake...

with barnacles on it's tail!

As I was trying to focus on this snake-like vine...

the overcast skies suddenly became a down pour...

...without any warning...

...in the woods...a small distance from home...

...and without an umbrella...

Needless to say...I walked fast...

I could have taken cover in the garden shed...

but...too late...already drenched.

Just wanted to get home without...

slip-sliding away!

I hurried past the wet...

...but...sunny Black-eyed Susans...

went in my front door...

through my living room...

down the short hall...

to dry my drenched hair!

Here's a little video of how the rain started.
