Just By Looking!

Isn't she cute...I'll tell you about her later!

For now, I'll show you how the field is changing...
~

Remember earlier in the summer...
how the Virginia Mountain Mint in the field...
was covered with bees?
~
~
Well now...there is Lance Leaved Goldenrod...
in the field...
~

and it is covered with orange Soldier Beetles.

They look like they are wearing
little bow ties on their back...

and note their segmented antennae, their
whiskered mouth and coat tails!

The Virginia Mountain Mint...
that the bees so liked...has changed...
the flowers are now seed heads...
and this grasshopper prefers that change.

Other things around here are changing...
the fence boards for one thing...

The wood knots are loose and falling out...

With a little help of course...
from you know who....
~
Alivia...that's who!

Note Alivia's long hair...
For it is about to change...
in the next photo.

Her hair is now shorter for school!

One thing that hasn't changed though
is her love to cook...
~

and to wash dishes...

Last week she made this omelet with
only a tiny bit of help...

It won't be long before
she'll want to make cornbread...

or even a dinner......

After this particular dinner...
Herhusband and I took a walk in the woods...

where I found this rock on the hillside...
which, I had to take home with me...

We were also going to the creek bed...

to retrieve a rock I had left on a log a few
days back, on a walk with Alivia and Dylan.

We walked farther along down the creek...
~
and that's when I found it
~
...while looking down...

You can find something of interest...
almost anywhere...

just by looking...

there's a grasshopper in the photo above...
something like this one.
~

The grasshopper just isn't as cute as this though!
~

I think she looks a little like granddaughter Alivia.

Marcy Poppins

Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay,
Today is our "Marcy Poppin's Birthday"
She's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Her job is to help us stay a little focused!

When the day is gray or not quite right,
She makes the sun shine really bright!
She knows a song that we should sing;
Joy to your heart she will always bring.

In all of our jobs that must be done,
She helps us find that element of fun.
With her help...tasks you undertake,
Will always become a piece of cake!!!

A spoonful of sugar she can dispense,
with jokes, fun facts and all of her hints;
making us laugh and some of us spit!
All we Villagers.....think her blog's a hit!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCY!!!!!

Busy

I can remember the Bee Balm in full bloom...

This is all that's left...of that early July blossom.
The Bee Balm may be gone...
~

but the bees are on the Thistle....

~

I originally called this Teasel...but it's Thistle...
Teasel is a little different...Thanks to Delwyn's
comment, I realized my mistake...
if you look closely or enlarge the next photo...
you may also see what's made the
silky maze of webs...
~

but it doesn't faze the busy bees.

Maybe they know the end of summer is near...

and that these bright green Maple leaves might...

soon turn like these Trumpet Vine leaves here!

Another sign that summer is winding down...
is here at the swing under the Walnut tree...
other than the fact that Alivia is sitting still.

It's the walnuts...they are ready to fall.

Soon it will be fall.....the 4 leaf clovers...
already show signs of it in their leaves.

Everything grows, changes, and ages.

~
This is a small portrait album...it's folded
pages open to show my 9 grandchildren...
all at a younger age...and in order of birth.

~photos enlarge~

Dustin and Amanda were the first two...
born 2 years apart...About 2 years later along
came Nathan...one year later Grant and Katie.
All five of them now drive cars!!!
~

Nick came next, he is now 15...next it was Andrew,
who just turned 13...then Dylan who is now 11...
and of course Alivia who is 6.
~

They all live within walking distance...
so I see them often...but it's the younger
ones I see the most!
The others are busy with jobs...
or getting ready to go back to college...
but...soon they all will be back in school.

But meanwhile...my living room sometimes
looks like this lately...

Grandsons brought it up from downstairs,
just for these last weeks of summer vacation.
Brothers Andrew and Dylan walk over often
to visit or stay all night.

Usually it also involves a snack.....

before they head off for home through the woods.

Alivia lives the closest...and if she's not busy
outside running around...

she might be inside playing a serious game of
scrabble....with relaxed rules...

...working a book of mazes...

or being creative in the kitchen....

On this day Katie came with her brothers...

So, you can find us often just sitting and talking...

but sometimes we end up climbing hills...

...and sometimes...with Alivia leading the way.

Although this last week I have been busy with
my grandchildren...I still found the time....
to fix dessert...like Coconut Creme Pie!

But...I wasn't very good at posting on my blog.
Alivia visits my blog with glee
maybe she should do it for me!

Haven't posted since last week...
It's all their fault...so to speak!
The glasses are mine and very weak...
She sneaks them on...I think it's sweet.
We've done a lot all this week...
I'll make posts of our feats!
