.......Dylan Michael's Birthday

This is grandson Dylan Michael at 5
Friday May 28th is his 12th Birthday.

Dylan is my youngest grandson.
He and older brother Andrew
spent every weekday
at Gramma's...
during the summer...
while their parents worked.
~
Dylan & Andrew

They took many walks in the woods...
together with me!
~

Wherever you found one...
you usually found the other.
~

Dylan is friendly and easy to love!
He's a
very good student...
and a
logical
trustworthy
fun loving kid.
~
~Dylan Michael ~

Last summer...
Dylan was often in the lead
on his walks in the woods
with Alivia and me...
~

His
awareness and observance...
are easy to see!
~

He
runs to jump logs
with his athletic ability!

It's just not the same...
for Alivia.....or me!

Caught him jumping again...
a creek blocking tree!

Hope he solves any problems
like he jumps over trees
with a smile on his face
and a great deal of ease!

Now this spring
just after school...
he often visits
and his homework
he brings!

When Dylan visits
I hate to see him leave...

Often I watch
as Dylan walks home
down the hill...and
through the trees!

Happy Birthday Dylan!

We Love You!

.....Transplanting

The garden has seen...
the white whirl of the Peony...

the glow of the Poppy in orange...

~

the Iris......in it's dark dressy blue...
~

and some of a purplish hue!
~

But...
lately the sun has been in hiding...
the roses are dripping with rain!

Yesterday...
Bernie and Billy Bluebird
were sitting guard
overhead in a tree.

~

After weeks of flying in for the feedings...
both Billy...

and Bernie...
decided to attack friendly ME!

I simply got too close you see...
~
they were coaxing out their babies!

This was the last little one to leave...
with my camera I kept my distance...
believe ME!

The whole family
has transplanted into the tree tops...
where they will stay out of sight for awhile!

The much larger Blue Jays...
who were attacked fairly often
can now search through the hulls...
in peace.

On our last walk into the woods..
Alivia swayed on a grape vine
hanging from the tree tops.

We were in an area...
where the hillside is covered in fern...
which transplants easily
to the shade in the yard.

We discovered...
a rather large Jack-in-the-Pulpit.

It was at least 2 feet tall.

On leaving...
it appears as if Alivia
was carrying this rather large log...
up the hill....

transplanting it...
between these trees...
where she rested awhile.

We walked to another hillside...
in another area...
where...
yellow flowers lined a path...

that led us down
to a shady area...
dotted with red and blue flowers...
which are easy to transplant!

The red ones are Fire Pinks...
and...
the blue ones are Virginia Spiderworts!

Here are some Fire Pinks...
transplanted to the side yard.

The yellow ones lining the path...
are Two-flowered Cynthia.

In the spring...
they grow wild all over the back yard.
No need to transplant them!

So...
between the wild flowers
and the Japanese Iris...
that I transplanted long ago
from my mother-in-law's garden...

Alivia managed to gather
a nice bouquet for her Mom!

Although...
Alivia's older brother Nathan...
had to buy...
Ashley's flowers for the prom.

Ashley & grandson Nathan

These two House Finches...
look like a sweet couple too!

One of the other happenings
this past week...
was that my youngest son Steve
did some metal detecting on the property...
where an old house once stood.

Steve found this...
do you know what it is?

We believe it's an old sleigh bell.
It's very heavy for it's size.

Steve also found this lovely...
dainty hair barrette...
in the shape of a hand.

This...
is his daughter Katie's hand...
with a few 4 leaf clovers.
We keep them in a journal...
she once found 42.

Here's one of many chipmunks that
scamper around the area.
Sometimes,
I wish they could be transplanted.
They have a need to tunnel...
in the flower bed.

These are paw paws developing...
slowly...in the woods!

Here's peaches against the sky...
in the field.

The blackberries are maturing...
on the fence...

...and across the field.

The Wild Roses
are beginning to bloom...
here and there!

There's blooms on the Chives...
on the back porch!

...and...
there's a strange insect
in the grass!

The common
White Clover in the field...
rivals the Peonies...
with its looks!

I'll end with a Fire Pink...
laying on a garden heart !
