.....Transplanting

The garden has seen...
the white whirl of the Peony...

the glow of the Poppy in orange...

~

the Iris......in it's dark dressy blue...
~

and some of a purplish hue!
~

But...
lately the sun has been in hiding...
the roses are dripping with rain!

Yesterday...
Bernie and Billy Bluebird
were sitting guard
overhead in a tree.

~

After weeks of flying in for the feedings...
both Billy...

and Bernie...
decided to attack friendly ME!

I simply got too close you see...
~
they were coaxing out their babies!

This was the last little one to leave...
with my camera I kept my distance...
believe ME!

The whole family
has transplanted into the tree tops...
where they will stay out of sight for awhile!

The much larger Blue Jays...
who were attacked fairly often
can now search through the hulls...
in peace.

On our last walk into the woods..
Alivia swayed on a grape vine
hanging from the tree tops.

We were in an area...
where the hillside is covered in fern...
which transplants easily
to the shade in the yard.

We discovered...
a rather large Jack-in-the-Pulpit.

It was at least 2 feet tall.

On leaving...
it appears as if Alivia
was carrying this rather large log...
up the hill....

transplanting it...
between these trees...
where she rested awhile.

We walked to another hillside...
in another area...
where...
yellow flowers lined a path...

that led us down
to a shady area...
dotted with red and blue flowers...
which are easy to transplant!

The red ones are Fire Pinks...
and...
the blue ones are Virginia Spiderworts!

Here are some Fire Pinks...
transplanted to the side yard.

The yellow ones lining the path...
are Two-flowered Cynthia.

In the spring...
they grow wild all over the back yard.
No need to transplant them!

So...
between the wild flowers
and the Japanese Iris...
that I transplanted long ago
from my mother-in-law's garden...

Alivia managed to gather
a nice bouquet for her Mom!

Although...
Alivia's older brother Nathan...
had to buy...
Ashley's flowers for the prom.

Ashley & grandson Nathan

These two House Finches...
look like a sweet couple too!

One of the other happenings
this past week...
was that my youngest son Steve
did some metal detecting on the property...
where an old house once stood.

Steve found this...
do you know what it is?

We believe it's an old sleigh bell.
It's very heavy for it's size.

Steve also found this lovely...
dainty hair barrette...
in the shape of a hand.

This...
is his daughter Katie's hand...
with a few 4 leaf clovers.
We keep them in a journal...
she once found 42.

Here's one of many chipmunks that
scamper around the area.
Sometimes,
I wish they could be transplanted.
They have a need to tunnel...
in the flower bed.

These are paw paws developing...
slowly...in the woods!

Here's peaches against the sky...
in the field.

The blackberries are maturing...
on the fence...

...and across the field.

The Wild Roses
are beginning to bloom...
here and there!

There's blooms on the Chives...
on the back porch!

...and...
there's a strange insect
in the grass!

The common
White Clover in the field...
rivals the Peonies...
with its looks!

I'll end with a Fire Pink...
laying on a garden heart !

...Wanda

Todays walk was one of the best I have been on with you. So much to see. I am now convinced your woods is a happy and blessed woods with that many four leaf clovers growng in it and all the hearts you find.I also think that Jack In The Pulpit is standing tall because he knows he will be getting his piture taken and he knows all the other flowers show off for the camera with their glorious colors and he wanted to be the star in this photo shoot. The barrett is a great find...I may try to do a doodle of it. Thanks for a great walk.

What riches you have underfoot. Every child should have the opportunity to swing on a vine and present such a lovely bouquet. I waxed nostalgically at the prom pictures - not for me - I never did go to one - but for my children - all gloriously decked out and the finches were pretty sweet also. No peonies yet - but the irises are up - I love that you have your mother-in-law's transplants. I love the sleigh bell. Smiling!

A lovely posting, Wanda. Beautiful photos. I can tell that you love nature, as many of us do -- and what interesting discoveries of the sleigh bell and the barrette.

Well it appears that Bernie and Billy aren't quite as friendly as we first thought, LOL!!! We have a bird nest in our yard and I am a bit leery when I have to walk the dogs past it!
I wish I had a place to transplant flowers from, I love the flowers. I have a Spiderwort that is just starting to bloom too. It surprises me every year! Alivia's bouquet was gorgeous! Love Di ♥

A beautiful and absorbing posting Wanda. Your pictures are lovely, - such great images of spring progressing into summer. I think you are about a week ahead of us, and so I can gaze at your pictures and anticipate how beautiful the garden will be in another seven days or so.. thank you for sharing the beauty of your woods and garden.

I can't get over all the beautiful colors in your yard, you are so far ahead of us my friend, we have just turned green and I am waiting longingly for blossoms.

Sorry ole Bernie and Billy gave you a hard time, I hope they didn't hurt you....

I think it would be fun using a metal detector, each piece found could be a story all by itself, yes I think I would really enjoy doing that.

I like Alivia's hair cut, she does look younger....still really sweet.
Great post my friend, so enjoyed it, have a great weekend. Big hugs to Alivia.......:-) Hugs

All your photographs are beautifully spectacular...I love the way you arrange them...describe them...and take me on such a beautiful walk with you.
I LOVE the photo of the pair of finches....
What great finds...and I hope that you discover what the large object that looks like a sleigh bell is.
The barrette would be the 'find of the decade' for me....I'm so excited to be here. I can't wait for your next post.
Love,
Jackie

It is amazing how quickly everything comes to life again. It doesnt happen here, so much of our native stuff is evergreen and now I really do wish for rain and more rain with some sun. Things are looking pretty grim here.
I love your flowers and your blog it lifts my spirit.
I shouldnt complain, we are off early tomorrow and after an 8 hour drive or so will be in Coffin Bay so the fellows can go fishing and M and I will read and walk and talk and sew. We only get together about once or twice a year but seem to get on well which is lovely.

Such an enjoyable walk around your home and into the woods. Too bad I can't transplant myself, if just for one walk with you in your beautiful private nature preserve. How wonderful it is to live so close to Natures gifts. Wonderful, wonderful post and ....of course the music, that is so perfect with your nature walks....debbie

Hello Wanda, I'm in Sausalito and have been off-line for several days. When I got some service, I checked and realized you had posted. I see it's cool in your area - Alivia's wearing a jacket. It's been cool most days here in N CA, too. That rose photo with the raindrops is my favorite - I love the droplets on each point of the bud! Don't those bluebirds know you just extended them some hospitality? Nathan and Ashley are perfect in their Prom finery. I noticed some CA young people dressed for Prom night when we were in Sacramento. Your blooms are so colorful, Wanda - enjoy your spring!

Hello Wanda! Another lovely walk with you. All those beautiful flowers and colours. I like to take a walk with you in that vigorous place of yours. The rose is magnificent, but all the photos are great. Thank you for sharing.
Best wishes

It's amazing to me that you know the names of all the flowers and birds. I wish I knew the names of the ones that grow wild here. BTW, thanks always for your visits to my blog :)

Oh I am so glad you posted today. It is pouring rain here and it was so nice to take a virtual walk with Wanda.
I love how you have brought the wild flowers home to your yard. Think they approve of the adoption.
I have nesting swallows that block the hole and give me the evil eye when I walk out the door. I stay away except for mowing which I can't help. Have to admire their pluck.

What fabulous pictures of flowers, birds, woodlands and as ever, Alivia.

You and your spring are so far ahead of me and mine that I'm a little envious, but I'll choose to call it excitement for what will be here in a couple of weeks. We are about to turn the corner to truly good weather here and things will pop!
Once again, beautiful flowers, beautiful people, and almost too much to take in!
I love Alivia's bouquet; look at all that color!
Mr and Mrs Bluebird are good parents to keep you away during such an important operation! Good for you for being a good guest at the event.

Another lovely walk through the woods with you! Your spring is far ahead of ours. Here the leaves on the trees are almost fully out now and lots of things are popping out of the ground, but only my little wood violets have bloomed. I like that you have transplanted your native wildflowers. I have done the same and although their blooms aren't as showy as the tamer varieties, I like their simple beauty.

Wanda, you have no idea how much I needed this walk with you today. It soothed my heart...and made me soul feel at peace! Thank you lovely lady for taking the time to share with wonder and beauty with us!

I loved seeing all the beautiful flowers in bloom. There is such beauty in the photos, I can just imagine how glorious it is in person. Your grandchildren are so lucky to have you. It is always new and wonderful adventures for them. Swinging on branches, finding treasures, and coming before prom. Such memories they are creating!
Looks like Alivia has gotten taller.
Thank you as always, Wanda for sharing your beautiful world!

Hi Wanda!
So this is what they're called:
Two-flowered Cynthia
Thank you! I always thought they were the sweetest "mini-daisies." {As I called them... now I know!}

What a darling bouquet Alivia gathered for her mom! The best ever!
and Nathan and Ashley look wonderful in the colors they chose! I love the combination of pink, white and black!

Oh and look at your sweet bluebird couple... albeit they are a bit territorial, I'd certainly love to see more of them here in NY state!

In your side bar in the place where your post ends and comments begin, is your buttermilk biscuits recipe... It's calling for me to do a little baking!
Thanks for the wonderful walk through your spring flowers!
A sweet weekend to you, Wanda!

ps. What fabulous finds with the metal detector...

I laughed when I read about Bernie attacking you! It has happened to me too!;)

Mother Nature has done such a wonderful job gardening the wild parts, now all you need to do is to pick some treasures and place them where you want them. Going out for a walk in your neck of the woods is like shopping in a giant garden center! Mother Nature loves you Wanda, she tell you that by sending you all the heart shapes and the four leaved clovers! I love that photo of Nathan and Ashley, they look like such a sweet couple!

Thank you for another walk around your property. I always enjoy your walks, images, and commentary.

I could see your post was here, but couldn't get it to load yesterday because I was connected via satellite at sea. The satellite is very slow so times out before the page will load. I'm connected via Verizon air card near a US port now which works much better.

Your family is beautiful. I also enjoyed seeing the peony; mine at home were just ready to bloom when I left three and a half weeks ago.

I enjoy your blog tremendously.

Very best,
Lois

Oh Wanda, it is so nice to come here and leave the hub bub of my world and just relax. I enjoy the way you view your surroundings, all of nature seems to blossom for you right before your eyes.

Your love of nature, has made me look closer at the beauty that surrounds me. The blossoms and the flowers are starting to bloom here too, and now, because of you I see them, and stop to smell the roses...well, I try hard to, I have been a little afraid to venture into the woods alone or along the paths, and I don't go walking in the dark these days.

Thankyou so much for sharing your beautiful world. ((((HUGS MY FRIEND))) T

Hi wanda

I have missed your lovely walk and am glad I have now been given a private tour with you.

I find it hard to believe that what was covered in snow only weeks ago is now so vibrant and leafy.
I picked some wild roses for my Mum on a walk recently in Christchurch. I love their natural flair.

It seems Alivia grows between posts, and your grandson looks very spivy in his prom get up. I bet that's his mobile phone in his hand. They can't be parted from them can they...

My favourite photo today would be the two snuggling house finches in the pine branches.

We call the papaya a pawpaw tree. Yours does look like paws.

thank you for this delightful walk in Wanda's wonderful wilderness.

Happy days

All of these pictures are so gorgeous! I have never seen them before, but they look gorgeous! Seeing a post is never enough. Each of your posts is worth seeing again and again, and yet again. At one time, everything is covered in snow and at another time every possible flower is in full bloom. Makes me so happy to see so much beauty through your eyes :)

My goodness - you have baby birds already fledging! I cannot imagine it. Our birds haven't even nested yet - after all, we got 18" of snow last week!

I'd never seen "Jack in the Pulpit" but I've read about it because it's a favorite food of bears. I don't think that we have any Jack in the Pulpit around here. I'm wondering if you have bears there?

Wonderful photos and story of your walk!

Wanda,

What a lovely visit. Seems like we were all just huddled up against the cold and now the world is blooming. I miss the peonies. Can't grow them here. The Babbling Brook iris - so beautiful.

I marvel at all the beauty you find. The hairpin, most interesting. The bouquet - perfect.

Most jealous of your bluebirds. I've yet to see one in my life, but I thank you for bringing them to us through your yard.
