I know it's almost summer
when this Asiatic Lily blooms in my garden.
My granddaughter Katie
was with me, when I bought it.
The lily's name is "Kathryn"...
so I had no choice.
It has really multiplied.
~
This is Blue Salvia
with Yarrow behind it and
Coreopsis to the left...
not yet blooming.
~
I found this Red Admiral Butterfly
just sitting in the sun...
on my Porcelain Berry Vine.
~
This is Beard-tongue Penstemon...
it grows well
in this hot dry area of the garden!
~
bloomed later than the white ones! ~
These Red Carpet Roses
make me think
hot summer days are near!
~

The flowers are growing well
even with a few
sunless overcast days....
....and
ONE torrential downpour!
We received about 3 inches of rain...
the driveway looked like a creek bed!

There were lakes of water
everywhere.

It's a good thing we live on a hill
with ravines on both sides...
for the water to go over and down.

It
drained away without any
problems...
except to make the
Peonies hang low.

This is the same Peony
with a little bud to the side
all shriveled up and dried...

The very next day
after the downpour...
the clouds over the field
looked as if...
they were doing battle!

Over
by an old fencepost in the field...
the Honeysuckle blooms...
and their sweet nectar...

...were visited by Swallowtails!

in the grass.
Maybe a piece from an old
hornet's nest...
dropped by a bird.
most likely dropped by a bird too!
I almost overlooked it!
things
are
easier
to
find
in
the
tall
grass
of
the
field.
Some
things
are
hard
to
miss...
when
laying
out
in
the
open!
The fawn lay very, very still.
I was very careful.....not to alarm it!
in almost the exact spot
last year too.
The mother goes off to eat
and returns later to nurse the fawn.
After about 15 minutes...
the fawn...up and ran away...
but not very far...
just to the other end of the field.
Mother and child always find each other!
I put a few grapes out...
for our resident Chipmunks.

I know when I visit your blog it will be a treat.
There is no way I could pick a favorite picture, each one is stunning. You have a great eye :)
☼ Sunny
There was a warning in our local paper the other week to leave the baby deer where they are when you find one. People thinking they've been abandonded take them to an animal hospital or a vet, and then the mother returns and she does not find her baby anymore. I know they're there, I have never been so lucky as to see one where I live though.
Your place looks lovely, beauty everywhere you look!
It's going to be a lovely weekend here as well, the first real warm and sunny Summer weekend is about to happen here in Belgium. Yaaay for sunshine!
That fawn is so beautiful! Your walks are always very welcome in my blogworld, Wanda. They're always a treat for the eyes and the soul. Thank you!
Hi Wanda,
So lovely and beautiful! I loved looking at all the flowers- so bright and happy. What a surprise to see the little fawn sitting in the grass. When I lived in Colorado, every morning, I would see either a doe or sometimes a buck sitting on the lawn. Seeing that fawn brought back those memories.
Have a wonderful day!
Take care.
Smiles.
You truly live in a paradise. What beauty you have all around you! You are truly blessed. Thanks for sharing some of it with us.
Loved your fawn encounter and that you are smart enough to know Momma is near by.
Many so called orphaned fawns that are captured are just waiting while Mom is off gathering groceries.
I've had a similar encounter and it is just thrilling to be so close to such a beautiful creature.
I love the color of that first peony picture, such a delicate pink. The fawn is just adorable, as is the chipmunk. I'll trade my squirrels for your chipmunks any day. Lovely place you live, Wanda, and the fact that you see those hearts everywhere is wonderful.
Hi Wanda-
"I SO enjoyed and needed to walk with you this day about your beautiful nature-land. The colorful blooms and lovely wild-life filled me with joy. "thank you"
Love Gail
peace and hope
Our pink peonies bloom almost one week after the white ones. Interesting. The lakes of water in your driveway struck me. Nature is amazing - furious and grand and then gentle. It does inspire awe - and not in the 2010 use of the word!
Everything is so beautiful! Do you have problems with pests on your lilies? My post today is about that; and I feel envious when I see beautiful lilies without "holey" leaves! But the bloom is the most pretty part anyway. The color of your bloom is just gorgeous!
I just love taking a walk with you and seeing your beautiful images. The little fawn in the grass is so sweet. Thank you for sharing your images with us once again.
It's all so lovely Wanda. Truthfully, the flowers are the only thing that make the heat and humidity here bearable! It's all in full blooming beauty! Love Di ♥
Wanda, I so enjoyed our walk through the garden and field today. I loved all your flowers and little findings in the field. The fawn was the best. So cute. am having difficulty reading as my eyes are dilated from my eye exam with the specialist. But I turned down the lights and looked close!! and of course, the music. I love it too....debbie
I so enjoyed the walk with you Wanda..love,love all the pictures..you do have a wonderful place to live..I have been overwhelmed with the wedding plans of my two sons that I really needed this break with you...thanks for sharing...
Hi Wanda, I always love your tours. Fawn and chipmunks, the way you write about these lovelies and the perfect pretty photos you take, could be right out of a fairy tale book. I only see and read about them in fairy tale books. Your corner must be one of the most beautiful corners in the world! Your nature is so stunning and peaceful. You just brightened my day with all your gorgeousness. Wishing you a happy, wonderful Wednesday Wanda. xx
Beautiful gifts from our Creator! I love the flowers and the fawn and the incredible sky. I love your sensitive heart that sees and enjoys and your creativity in prose--like the tall grass. Your posts always make me glad!
I feel like I have visited another planet, compared to us as we have no beautiful blooms at least in my neighbourhood and I was out walking this morning. I can tell the cherry and apple blossoms aren't far away though....that means the beauty you treasure every day is soon to arrive in Morinville.
I loved all the photo's but especially the battling clouds, another special post my friend, thank you for sharing.
Big hugs to Alivia........:-) Hugs
Wanda, I'm so glad you didn't get washed away, all your short is a boat, you have everything else on that beautiful land of yours. How wonderful to come across such beautiful creatures as fawns and chipmunks.
Yes Wanda, you mentioned Amanda was coming to Ireland. I hope she enjoyes her volunteer work at the Quaker Cottage in Belfast. I'm sure it will be a big change from where she is coming from. I actually know nothing about it, as I am down South. I must google it and see what comes up.
I love seeing the wild penstemons that grow here in the Black Hills, but they aren't in bloom yet. Same with the yarrow and wood lilies. What you're telling me is that flowers bloom earlier in the humid, hot south, one major plus! :o) We may end up in Alabama after all...anyway, lovely post Wanda, as usual.
Such lovely pictures! We're having so much rain everything here is droopy and starting to rot, although the grass and weeds are growing like crazy. I love that you have a fawn in your yard. So cool.
Oh, Wanda, this is all so lovely!
And I can't believe the last picture of the heart-shaped wild yarrow! I love how God always sends you His heart! 'Must give you a thrill every time you spot one!
I loved each and every picture here, and there are not enough months in the year for me to use them as blog backgrounds! I especially loved that last heart one and the old fence post too!
Thanks again for sharing the beauty that surrounds you!
And thanks again for letting me use your pictures, really very generous of you!
Love to you,
Eileen
As I began to scroll down on my walk with you I just new there would be a heart some where. :) The little fawn gave me a smile and made me go ~ awww ~ as did the chipmunk. Love my walks. Dee
The fawn was amazing! Wow.
My scariest forest experience was when I accidentally scared up a very young fawn. Its mother chased me, and I thought that she was going to attack. I held my bike up over my head to make myself look bigger. She then escorted me about 50 yards away before returning to her fawn.
How very special that you could see the fawn and enjoy him/her, especially without a protective mother going after you!
Dearest Wanda,
Your posts are always so heartfelt and heart-warming. Your photos of the beautiful fawn touched me deeply. You have a made a beautiful paradise in which to spend all your seasons. Enjoy summer.
Wonderful photos...every one of these...loved the fawn, oh my gosh!
Oh.... Wanda, I love the fawn so much. It's so beautiful!! And the clear blue sky, the white heart shaped flowers..and the pink peony, it looks beautiful even it has dried ;)))
I'm breathing in the beauty here, it's good for the soul!
The picture of the fawn is beautiful.(and the butterfly, lightning bug, chip munk and all your lovely flowers!) I think my heart was meant for the country side of the tracks!;)
Taking a little time this morning to myself and made a long needed visit to your blog. Always heart-warming and lovely. Thanks for the peace and tranquility. Have a blessed day!!
The heart shaped wild yarrow, the honeysuckle in bloom (mine isn't yet) and the beautiful fawn - I haven't spotted any young where I am yet, those are a few of my favourites from this gorgeous post.
Hi Wanda! You always take us out on such a wonderful walk. All those beautiful flowers and the animals, the butterflies - and you've got the swallowtail where you live, I'm envious! The baby deer is adorable and the chipmunk. It's such a great experience to follow you on one of your walks. You live in a wonderful place and you know how to appreciate it.
Kind regards
Thyra
Great post as always!
I love all the pictures, but I laughed out loud at the one showing the chippie's tail as he disappeared over the log.
xx
Wanda~ I'm impressed by your knowledge of the proper names of flora & fawna. (I always just say "what a pretty flower!") That's a lot of rain! I clicked to enlarge... good thing you live on the hill! Oh, I loved that little fawn... absolutely adorable! And that last photo of the chipmunk.. just his little bushy tail :)!
And, of course the heart... very special photo.
:)
Oh that fawn - it must be so exciting to see such a cute little animal. Thanks so much for letting us glimose your beautiful world.
Absolutely beautiful, all that colour; the lilies, peonies, roses and that dear little fawn. Wish we could get some rain like that! We've been fogged in all day but I don't mind. Thank you for visiting, Wanda. xa
All your photos are just gorgeous. I'm especially partial to the fawn and the lightening bug but the flowers were beautiful too.
Wanda...EVERY single one of your posts is my FAVORITE!!!! I LOVE peonies...one of my favorite flowers...and the photos of the fawn and chipmunk are incredible!!!! Wow! But my favorite photo is the heart, of course. PERFECTION! Love it...Have a weekend as beautiful as you are, dear friend! Love, Janine XO
Wonderful posting Wanda - beautiful garden and fields and wildlife. You have a loving eye and capture the life within everything you see.
Me again...thank you so much for telling me about the time you spend at my blog, I am beyond touched and flattered! Also, I didn't mention before how much I love the fawn photos, they're gorgeous!
You take the most interesting photos--I love seeing things through your eyes! I especially loved the tiny objects you found in the grass.
And your music is so calming. This is just a wonderful blog to visit.

Wow these are amazing captures Wanda.
Thank you for sharing them.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Regards.

My salvia is just getting ready to bloom. Can't wait to see which insects come to the feast.
Wanda, what a lovely walk 'round. I always enjoy these trips around your beautiful property. The deer picture...oh, that just took my breath away!
Hope your weekend is lovely, sweet lady.
Hello Wanda, I'm late visiting, but your walk and discoveries have been a balm for my spirit! Your garden is a treat as are your "discoveries" in the field. I need to be mindful of my yarrow - hopefully it will bloom in the shape of a heart! Thank you for your keen eye and wonderful photos.
Your garden is so beautiful, and the shots of the fawn and chipmunk are wonderful. I so enjoy rambling through your woods and seeing so many different things than I see here in Alaska, but yet some of the same things too. The one thing that is always present no matter where you walk through the woods is the feeling of serenity you feel.
Each of these is amazingly beautiful and a treat for the eyes! You live in such a beautiful area. I long to visit where you live, and see the beauty first hand. I am so thankful you share all of this with us every day.
Simply beautiful - I love the photos of the fawn (and the chipmunk). And of course the flowers are breathtaking.
