Summertime and the flowers are growing...
Summertime and there's berries to pick.....
.....and that's exactly what I've been doing...
picking Blackberries by the handful!
~
My very favorite dessert is
Blackberry Crisp with almonds...
but...
Blackberry Sauce and Whipped Cream
over pound cake will do too!
~

While I was picking those blackberries
by the handful along the fence row...
I watched a fox in the field....
after a few minutes...
he ran under the boards of the fence.
The foxes don't hang around long...
they just Come and Go.
~
eating a few that were on the ground.
Lucky for me...
that he didn't want blackberries.
under the Wild Black Cherry Tree.
~
They too were eating...
what had fallen to the ground...
Come...

...and Go...

On a sadder note...
Other things...Come and Go.
Sometimes leaving a mystery behind...
as to what exactly might have happened...
in the field.
It may be a Red-shouldered Hawk.
~

Herhusband
called me to the field to view
a happier scene one day.
When it's time for Carolina Wrens
to leave the nest....
sometimes they just can't quite
make up their minds to go!
Come and go...come and go...
and up and over.

Trying to work up courage to Go.
Butterflies are always coming to the field.....
attracted by the Virginia Mountain Mint.
~

There's enough to share with the Honey Bees...

...and this long yellow insect with white flower-like designs.

I see this dark amber colored insect often there too!

BUT... this
Very Hairy Mahogany Colored Insect is new to me!

The flowers closer to the house...

...attract Butterflies too.

There's always several in view.
The flowers on the table are
But Spots
...I did find...
of a different kind!
A Monarch Butterfly!

So seeing a Monarch here in my garden....

I've harvested a few...and used them.....
to make funny faces....
...and Go...
On a sadder note...
Other things...Come and Go.
Sometimes leaving a mystery behind...
as to what exactly might have happened...
in the field.

....well....
that makes up for NOT having any recent
Beautiful Sunrises to view!
Nothing can make up for having...
to work in my vegetable garden...
with an insect like this...being there too!
There's a few things growing there...
the cucumbers are vining all over
and finally increasing in size...along with
tomatoes, basil, zucchini, onions,
parsley and peppers.
I've harvested a few...and used them.....
to make funny faces....
like salads with our pizza...
and stuffed zucchini...just to name two!
As sandwiches come and go...
any type can be enhanced...
as everyone knows...
with cucumbers, tomatoes and basil...
both open faced or closed!
No garden ingredients were used
to produce the following though!
Much like these squirrels and one rabbit...

...that always...
Come and Go!
Much like these squirrels and one rabbit...
that come every morning for seeds.

Wow, what wonderful pictures today. I really loved every one, ha. How neat that you got to take a picture of the fox and the deer. Also, the different insect pictures are amazing. Some of them, I've never seen before.
Ditto! to everything Viki said. I love these pictures, from the juicy blackberries to the fawns, the butterflies, and the funny vegetable face. Thank you for the beauty, the smiles, and the gentle visit in your world...
Hello Wanda, I have moved from one photo to another, enlarging and admiring. (That "monster" insect is actually a big surprise!) Your garden is bountiful with both blooms and veggies. (And creatures!) My favorite photo is the Monarch on the Cone Flower. I cut some of my garden flowers for my table today, too. It's wonderful to see them brightening the room! Happy Birthday to Herhusband! PS Have you ever made cornbread/cinnamon breakfast muffins? My D-i-L is craving them.
Thanks Viki...I will vivit you tomorrow...almost midnight here!
Thanks Djan...it's nothing like skydiving though!
Hello Barb...Just saw you at Amanda's. I don't have 'that' specific recipe, but I always put cornbread mix in any of the muffins I make.
Happy Birthday to HerHusband, I hope this will be his best year ever.
I have been coming to your blog from the beginning my friend and I don't know how you do it but each one is so lovely, I love how you have done your photos's (how) and your garden is absolutely beautiful, all the animals, insects, and birds are very intelligent.....they know which home to go to to be fed and make to feel welcomed. I absolutely envy them, I would love to join you for lunch, those sandwiches and cobbler looks delicious. I enlarged every picture (I have only been here over half an hour)and loved every moment. I missed your company though. Big Hugs to Alivia......:-)
Lovely post Wanda. How great to be able to get such beautiful pictures of your wild and gentle visitors.
It is always a delight to visit here.
Happy birthday to Herhusband....and many thanks to you for sharing the delights of your life.
Hej Wanda! Those photos are so fantastic that I miss words. And how you appreciate your beautiful place and all its lovely and exciting creatures. It is such a joy to take a walk with you. How wonderful your butterflies and flowers are. That lille mahogany insect is funny with its punky hair! Your cakes look so delicious, uhmmmm!
Grethe.
What a rich post of pictures, love, nature. I was shocked at first seeing you've changed your blog but love it. I want to come over for salad and desert.
What a wonderful idyllic post, there are so many beautiful photographs and I've really enjoyed looking at them.
Delightful! It is all good! So much beauty and you capture it so well. I am ready to take a walk and enjoy God's creation now. Thinking of you.
Hi Wanda,
I actually made the Blackberry crisp for the first time. My family loved it! All those bugs up there sure are odd looking! I have seen the Hummingbird Moths here. Jake and I couldn't figure out what they were so we looked them up. You sure have a lot of comings and goings at your place, all so beautiful. I love reading Amanda's adventures! It almost looks like more fun than work!!!
Love Di ♥
Simply stunning and beautiful. You have captured the essence of summer in these photos.
My Grandmother used the expression that something 'warmed the cockles of her heart'. As I enjoy your post, I know exactly what she meant.
Always a delightful visit :)
☼ Sunny
A beautiful day for a walk in your woods. The deer always make my heart smile. All of your wood critters seem to be at peace and happy in your woods. I like the look of your new blog design and I am looking forward to seeing your glass heart find. I have found a few hearts myself and will try to post them when I return to my blog.:)
Sunny said it well, my "cockles" are warm also.
Loved the walk with Wanda as always, especially the deer and fox.
That long bug was beautiful, Hairy Mahogany, not so much.
Think I will now go stretch out and smile--thank you.
Hi Wanda,
First of all, I like your new blog.
I always love to take walks with you. It is always soo beautfiul. I remember way back when you gave me the recipe for the blueberry crisp. My hubby and I really enjoyed it. I think it is time to make it again.
I am progressing along with my foot surgery. Tomorrow, I will have a walking boot and what a pleasure that will be. No more crutches and walking on my heel. Making progress!
Your blog always brings a smile to my heart!
Have a wonderful day.
Morning Wanda,
This is why I love your blog...great photos, lovely words and fabulous food! Thanks for taking me on another wonderful adventure.
your friend,
Janet xox
the little fawns steal my heart every time ;-)
HI WANDA-
Oh my it was so wonderful walking about your n ature land with you today. Such took me far away from some of my woes. I loved every picture and every detail you shared. And the food? Oh my - so yummy. I would love to be close enough to you so I could "come and go" - looks like this will have to suffice.
Love to you
Gail

I'll remember that!
Is there a particular brand you use or do you mix up your own?
*Wishing you a wonderful week, Wanda*

I know you did much to make your husband's birthday a joyful one! Happy belated birthday, HerHusband!
Your resident wildlife are a continual wonder to me as I view them through your lens!
Is there ANY way blackberries wouldn't be delicious???? We're having our mulberry tree cut down as I type! In spite of the mess, I will miss the few desserts I made with them. (We also put them on our breakfast cereal...)
I know you'll be tracking the changes as summer rolls into its second half. Can't wait to see them as well as the glass heart!
What enchanting creatures you get to see. I love the glimpses you give us of your wonderful home. And those blackberries ... mmm mmm I can almost taste that dessert :)
I miss your blackberry sauce Gramma! It reminds me of when I was little and always had it with vanilla ice cream. And that hairy bug from your vegetable garden is really scary! Love Amanda
Lovely photos of a lovely life, Wanda. Let me be honest, however. Much as I love deer, butterflies, birds, and every other glorious manifestation of nature, it's the Blackberry Crisp that is driving me a little crazy right now.
What an exquisite post, Wanda! Your photography is fantastic; I want that camera! Love your new look as well. xa
Such abundance here - of beauty, of variety, of goodness. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have the big phlox in my yard as well. Their fragrance sings summer to me, along with the tin melodies of the goldfinches.
Thanks Rebecca, I used to pick mullberries with my grandmother and the grandkids have picked them here!
Thanks Loree, that dessert is almost gone!
Amanda...miss you but happy that you are in Ireland, see you in 30 days!
George...then you should make yourself some blackberry crisp, because it is so easy! :)
Thank you very much Alaine!
Hi Deb...we're lucky to appreciate such things!
The bird not ready to fly - that resonated. As did all. Nature is cruel and nature is beautiful. It's all a wonder - that's what you bring. Wonder. Happy birthday to Herhusband! I hope it was grand and I, too love the new layout.
Beautiful pics...and um-um delicious looking too!!!
Wanda,
you always make me hungry with those yummy looking home made goodies! Those berries look luscious (as does the berry crisp, the panini, & the peanut butter cup cookies!) You have so many wonderful creatures at your place. I've never seen that long bug w/ the flower pattern... very interesting. Monarch Butterflies are my favorite.
:)
Another lovely, enjoyable post...loved seeing all your fascinating bugs! I see the hummingbird moth only when I go to the south end of the Hills to snap the blazingstar which opens at sunset, and is pollenated by the moth...way cool moths! B.star isn't in bloom yet...Anywho, your grub looks as good as ever too! Esp. the PB cookies, oh Yum!! Too bad I'm on Weight Watchers, huh?? I do splurge once in awhile. :o) Enjoyed all of your post!
Wanda, your garden is so beautiful with flora and fauna! Oh I wish our climate was a bit cooler so we could have beautiful blooming plants. The heat is so intense here in summer that the plants wilt during the day.
I enjoyed your beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing!
Love,
Marie
I very much enjoyed your garden and flowers and the animals and all the insects--what a variety of bugs you have! But right off the bat you had me drooling over those blackberries. I grew up on the West Coast and blackberries have always been my favorite, but alas they don't grow in Fairbanks. I make do with frozen ones and occasionally fresh ones from the store, but nothing compares to eating them right off the vine.
the garden looks so lovely, I am trying to think Spring but it is still very cold and muddy.
You brighten my day.
I just loved all your photos of the butterflies! I also really liked the pictures that held the enlarged portion...just loved it!
My daughters and I picked blackberries yesterday. I just love 'em!
I just wanted to thank you for you kind comment on my post. Such encouraging words you flung my way...I needed that. Thank you, friend.
You've got some pretty amazing creatures in your garden, Wanda! I liked your 'Come and Go' theme, and pictures were, as they always are, terrific. I am beginning to wonder, though, if you ever leave that wonderful place of yours! (Maybe I don't come here often enough and miss the times that you do.)
I feel like you live in a paradise of beauty and wildlife. As always, your pics are wonderful! I'm enjoying some produce from the garden as well. i picked green beans today--will cook them with potatoes and ham.
I have fond memories of picking wild blackberries when I was a child. They taste so much better than store bought ones.
What a lovely collection of flora and fauna you have shown us, thank you for sharing..!
hugs
xx
Beautiful and excellent post, as always, Wanda! There is nothing that escapes your eye, is there? Love those insect pictures and the butterflies. I haven't seen a monarch here yet, but I'm sure it won't be long.
I love your new look...very calming.
You live in Paradise Wanda...((((HUGS)))) T
Thank you Claudia, I guess I will keep the blog's simple look!
Thanks Donna!
Becky, the 'creatures' seem to out number us!
Thanks Jann...see you at your blog!
Cheryl, it has been extremely hot and humid here lately!
Marie, thank you!
Elaine, I may have fresh blackberries, but you live close to fresh salmon!
Thank you Penny, your drawings make me smile.
You are welcome Alexis!
Deborah...I stay fairly close to home, I know you come and go often though!
Donna, anyone would envy all that your garden produces!
Sheila, I used to pick berries as a child, with my mother.
Thank you Susan, I actually haven't seen very many monarchs here.
Thank you long-time friend Teresa!
You have the most interesting things in your gardens and on your land. All of the pictures are beautiful but some of those things did look a little scary. I wish I had some of your butterflies in my garden. They are so lovely. Happy birthday to your dear hubby and happy weekend!
Wanda, this post had amazing photos. You've always been good at it, but you are getting even better if that is possible. I don't know what I'd do if I ever saw a real live fox! And I really loved the one of the deer "coming" ... looking straight at your camera no less!
Thanks for your recent comment on my blog...I got tears in my eyes when I read what your plaque says about "home". We've been in our current house for almost 15 years, and it is nice, but it will never hold the same memories that our previous house did, where we brought our babies home and we were so busy raising them and maturing ourselves.
Have a great weekend, happy belated birthday to your special guy!
Very enjoyable theme, and so much to relish and take in. Life is so rich, but I'm glad that I don't have to contend with some of the insects you have. I agree with some of your other readers, your photographic skills just keep on getting better.
Good morning, Wanda,
What beautiful images once again. I love your collection of wild flowers. And, the wild life that lives with you is so pretty.
It is so wonderful to have a connection to be able to see your blog today. Tomorrow I'm back to the very slow satellite connection that times out when I try to load pages with images.
Very best,
Lois
A very Happy Birthday to HerHusband :-) Each and every picture on this post was such an absolute delight! I really liked the effect of several pictures juxtaposed on one. Loved them :) And I also liked the flower vase filled with flowers from the garden. They look so beautiful. Just as the food you cook looks sumptuous :)
Thank you for the kind words you left on my blog :)
I always enjoy your posts so much! Foxes, fawns, flowers, butterflies and squirrels, grandchildren and good food straight from your own garden.. Life is good!
Great Photos!! The blackberries look delicious!!
Have a great week Wanda
~Ron
Thank you Carol, even the scary things are actually harmless!
Thank you Jacqueline, the fox are very shy, but baby ones have slept on our compost pile in the past.
Thank you Lizzie, the insects look meaner than they are, the large one actually kills flies.
Enjoy your cruise, Lois!
You are welcome Stillness!
Hi Jientje, I have missed your blog posts, while you are on holiday!
Thank you, Ron, have a good week too!

Wanda, your pictures are so so pretty. Every time I visit you I'm smiling ear-to-ear. The fence ~ fox ~ and berry picture is my favorite. Such stunning image!
Your gateau looks delicious, please have a slice or two for me .^_^.
Hope you will have a most wonderful new week! xx
Thank you very much Aleksandra. I'm glad Delwyn introduced us!
Thank you Saskia for always coming by!
Hello Wanda
What a wonderful meander as I drink my cup of earl grey and catch up after being away for a week.
I wish I could join the gang of people and critters that Come and Go... to your place...
to see all of these delights and to share your company...
Your photos are wonderfully clear - those insects just seem to pose for you... and the blackberry crisp with almonds...yummy...I brought back a cobbler recipe from NZ which uses blackberries and apples...but as I have no oven I will have to wait until I am back in Kauai to test it out.
Happy days
How do you keep the blackberries in one place? Mine are thornless but they are invasive. I had some this morning on a bowl of oatmeal.
Love you blog.
Hello Wanda, this is a delightful post :-) I love that you have plants taken from your parents, I have lemon balm from mine. Your garden is wonderful, so full of life and interest. I look forward to your next post!
Hi Wanda,
just found your blog and it is a delight. Will be looking in often now.
hi wanda -- what a wonderful gift you posted right on my birthday..
you bring so much joy and cheer and selfless living and inspiration. I love your home -- Thank you so much for sharing it...makes me want to visit and bask in its peace.
hugs,
eera
...beautiful post as usual Wanda. You have a way with words and nature--everything is always so peaceful, and your recipes look wonderful. You should combine it all in a nature-lover's cookbook!
Wanda, your photographs are magazine-quality-perfect. How amazing to see the beauty all around you...and you capture it so well...not only with photos but with words. Thank you for sharing them. It is always a pleasure to be here....so peaceful...
Wanda all are just amazing!
Love the organic produce and the sweet smelling yummy dessert and of course the sandwich!
Thank you for sharing dear one.
xo
With all that coming and going at your place, I'm thinking you wouldn't notice if I snuck in...wandered around...enjoyed the beauty, grabbed a cookie and a sandwich and left!
What a lovely post!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Delwyn...I wish I could meander with you in Noosa or Kauai
Abe...they don't stay in one place, but they are along a fence and the edge of the field.
Thank you Chris, I enjoy your blog as well.
Thank you gwentman for your visit.
Happy Birthday Eera!
Thank you Kelly for the making me smile.
Hi Jackie...glad you have returned.
Thank you Regina for your visits.
Jenny...you can't sneak in without my knowing...whistles and bells would be going off!
Oh, Wanda. As always such a lovely visit to your world. I remember the winter while reading this - the beauty you found for us then. And now, such beauty in what is just there. I thank you for your posts.
wow Wanda..these pictures are amazing. I loved reading each caption and as I read and scrolled...I felt so much peace...thank you so much for sharing these....
wonderful tour, thank you!
As usual, a delightful post! Thanks for sharing your comings and goings. My favorite photos were of the insects though the fawns and fox were also great.
My grandchildren will love the peanutbuttercup cookies!
Thank you for always coming by Julie!
Thank you Sarah and L.W.!
The cookies are my grandsons' favorite Kay!
I so loved this post, beautiful wildlife and flowers all about. I saw my first Monarch yesterday! And the vegetables and raspberries are making my mouth water...all I have growing is one plant of cherry tomatoes. My mom used to make us peanut butter and cuke sandwiches..so good. Thanks for the cheery post, its a ray of sunshine during this gray, humid day.
Your insects photos are amazing...!!!
