This 'something' is laying on a glass topped table...
with garden photos underneath. Can you tell what it is?
We'll get back to that later.
~
Meanwhile...
The Naked Ladies are blooming along the fence in the field.
~
Their sunny middle reminds me of sunrises...
Colorful sunrises have been scarce here lately.
~
But...
the bright sun does still shine...
making the air very hot, humid and heavy.
~
The air is heavy also with the sounds of Locust!
They are hardly ever still!
~
The seed pods later look just like blackberries.
The real blackberries have all been picked by me...
or eaten by the deer.
~
The zucchini vines are still producing.
There are 8 in the fridge waiting for me now.
The Hibiscus from Herhusband's mom...
still blooms after all these years.
I naturalized some Black-eyed Susans in the field.
They along with wild Ironweed are multiplying fast.
Intermingled among them are a few other wild flowers.
The bees are very busy, visiting the tassels of the corn...
in Herhusband's garden...at the end of the field.
This is not a Bee!
But...a Fuzzy Moth.
One evening I found him lying on the ground...
wasn't sure if he were just resting or slightly injured...
I only know...he wouldn't or couldn't fly away!
Another day...
I found a wing from a Luna Moth on the moss.
I found these small baby raccoons climbing
the Tulip tree by the field a few days ago.
My son Steve finds things on the property too!
Here's the glass heart I spoke of in my last post.
The shape is created by little raised dots.
While metal detecting in the woods...
Steve found this intricate old hinge.
I wonder...to what...had it been attached!
Early one morning...
wanting to visit one of the creeks...
I went to the one over behind Herhusband's garden.
down the hill to the creek below...
which get moved around after heavy rains.
if only a crayfish!
only to be washed away later...with the next...
heavy rain...
like this heart-shaped one with a hole in it.
one was a little too realistic.
Note the large 'horn corral' fossil too.
it's just below the garden...over the top of the hill.
with camera, cellphone, fossils and rocks!
Most of the initials belong to the grandkids!
I make my way home...after I paused to look!
I look for things to do inside.
There's always meals to be cooked...
...cucumbers to be sliced and put on almost every plate.
Herhusband placed an unofficial mailbox
zucchini bread with 'some' of that zucchini...
cinnamon rolls for Herhusband
and iced coffee drinks for us to share!
which was introduced to me by blogging friend, Delwyn.
This is one I sent to granddaughter Amanda...
who is volunteering in Northern Ireland.
Her younger sister Alivia so misses her.
Amanda will be home later in the month.
Amanda will be home later in the month.
Herhusband placed an unofficial mailbox
on the path between our houses.....
that's where I leave a few letters for Alivia.
Yesterday...
a letter from Delwyn came for her too.
I saw the two fawns...who saw me too!
They stood very still!
I hid behind the clump of trees where the deer had been.
I waited for Alivia to check for mail.
excited and yelling to her mom.
This evening...I was shown what was inside.
What a Surprise!
Stickers and cards.....and a long letter
for her to read!
I've received a few letters myself...from Alivia!
Even a gift once...which was a big surprise for me!
I still like surprises!
like these Rose Gentians in the field.

That mail box is genius. What a treat for all of you.

I was directed to your blog by Arkansas Patti and I am so glad she did ....what a wonderful blog you have ...so much to see ... that fuzzy moth and that amazing hinge and all that you observe on your walks. I have only one think to moan about ...you tempt us with all your food ....but where are the recipes??
Cinnamon buns look so yummy but we dont find them across the pond ...there are what I think are similar ... Chelsea Buns but I am sure your readers would love the odd recipe that works for you .

Wow! A snake skin!
I thought it might me a hornet's nest. I do see a heart shape. Maybe it was a kind snake..?!
I love the photo of the the two deer it looks like a mirror imsge.
The mail box is a sweet idea. Alivia looks so excited to find something there.
Enjoy your weekend. I'm off with my daughter and grand daughters next week for a little vacation.
See you when I get back

The macro photos are amazing, Wanda. Butterflies and moths - both beautiful.
You've got your own 'House and Garden' magazine going on here - and like many other commenters, I love the mailbox idea. I want to come over and sit in your kitchen sometime...
Always a delightful visit in your part of the world, your beautiful art in photographs. I especially loved the two deer, watching you, the raccoons, and the rusty hinge.
WMy zucchini vines are taking over the world.I will freeze it shredded for breads later. What a treat - to have an unofficial post box for Alivia. The snakeskin was a surprise - heart and all.And then the fuzzy moth.I watched a robin scoop a little one up this morning. Lovely spending some time with you.
Wanda, I'll tell you what...I couldn't figure that snake skin out to save my soul! I was thinking more alone the lines of some kind of sea shell. lol Your flowers are so pretty! What a beautiful soft pink the Nakes Ladies are! Cute name for the flowes! That moth looks like something that belonged on a Wooly Mammouth...ancient and very fury!!What a beautiful old hinge. Too bad you don't have two. It's really amazing to me that you can find so many heart objects! Really neat! The pasta dish actually did make my mouth water. I wrote down the ingredience that I saw, thought I may make something similar. I LOVE PASTA!!!! The sweet rolls don't look too shabby either! I am drooling. Did so enjoy your post as usual. I run through it about 3 times. So much to see and read about!! ...debbie
How did I miss the recipes down the side ...must have been a senior moment lol
Wanda,
I always love walking with you... you always find such natural wonders. How do you get such great close ups of the butterflies & bugs? What a fun idea having a special mailbox for Alivia! Have I told you your posts always make me hungry? Everything always looks so tasty!
:)
What a beautiful spot you live in Wanda, - and your photographs are incredibly lovely. I love your woodland mailbox, - you are creating wonderful memories for your grandchildren. Such a nice visit, - thank you for sharing the beauty that surrounds you.
Hello Wanda...like so many others, I could not figure out what the photo was taken (of) :))...and I tried to guess before reading further. Such fun!
I was particulary interested in the the hinge. It is lovely...and I, too, wonder to what door it was attached...and how many stories it has 'heard'...
I enjoy looking for your hearts. Thank you for sharing yours...
Hi Wanda!
Everything here was such a treat for me! I needed this little "get away" to your sweet part of the world. What a lovely idea you had to exchange letters in a real mailbox!
Love all your little creatures and the big ones too like the deer.
The furry moth was so interesting... hope he's okay :)
I enjoyed every minute here, Wanda~ thank you for the time you spend getting this post ready for all of us to enjoy ♥
have a wonderful day tomorrow and week ahead ~ blessings to you and all * Maria
Another enjoyable walk through your lovely yard! I only have three zucchini in my fridge, but more are growing so I will have to make something soon. With eight in yours sounds like it's time to start freezing some--or leaving them as surprises for unsuspecting people. I love the woodland mailbox. How fun for Alivia, and just as fun for you to watch her enjoyment of it.
I love this post Gramma... First of all the baby raccoons are adorable, and all that food looks so good! Emmy and I made a stir fry last night, and it was really good! Emmy's a good teacher, so I'm learning to cook a little better while I'm here :) I'm so glad you posted pictures of Alivia--it's impossible to get her to call me on Skype, so I have to rely on pictures to see her! The mailbox was such a good idea! Love, Amanda
Wanda, this is absolutely beautiful, I love the walks you take us on. Your yard is my idea of what heaven must be like. all the beautiful plants, trees, deer....it is just gorgeous,
she would have been thrilled with her letters. That is a wonderful idea to make a young lady feel special. have a great weekend. The black berries in your last post...oh my they looked so good. hugs to you.
I think what amazes me the most Wanda is the old bottles and and other things in your woods. That hinge was just beautiful. It makes me wonder what was out there?
Alivia most have been thrilled with all of that mail. Sarah gets excited when she gets mail from her aunt Ginny in N.C.!
I love your lovely photos Wanda and am glad you were able to get out for awhile in this heat. We had two days relief and now it's supposed to get oppressive again! Hopefully it will be over soon!
Love Di ♥
The sunlight through your amaryllis is just lovely. Fabulous capture of the Fuzzy Moth, and I would have melted to see the young raccoons (I’ve raised many orphans in the past). I love the mailbox idea, too, more fun memories for Alivia. You have such a knack for finding hearts, it must be because yours is so big.
Glad you enjoyed the film! I tried to send you an email but it bounced back...
Another lovely post Wanda. I adore your great photos and perfect narration. The mailbox idea is so great. I had my man place a mailbox in one of my garden beds down by my fence line. I keep small gardening tools there..very handy when I see something I want to clip or prune...I don't have to go all the way back to the garage for the handtool. One of my neighbors asked me once if the mailman minded having to walk all the way down to the garden to deliver the mail...Lol!
have a great week,
Janet xox
Very interesting ~ thanks for sharing! This was my first time visit to your blog and I really REALLY enjoyed my time spent taking a glimpse into your world.
Lovely post, Wanda, I will come by, sure I will. I love that fuzzy moth! You are showing me the most precious little miracles of nature. Loving it!!
I love surprises in my mailbox too, nothing beats a handwritten note or postcard, does it?
Hugs for a wonderful new week! xx
Loving your pictures, Wanda ! :)
So lovely. Every photo and word.
Beautiful photos, as usual. What a sweet idea to have a mailbox and post letters for sweet Alivia. And even better, you got a gift too :)
I am always so amazed at the hearts that you find along the way, I don't think you find them, I honestly believe that they are put into your path to share with all of us. You have such a huge heart that it shows in everything! It makes my heart smile (;
A lovely post Wanda filled with all the nicest of things. I wish I could have picked one of those cinnamon rolls up and eaten it:) The food all looks so delicious. You have such a wonderful variety of flora and fauna around your home, it must be the perfect place to live.
I think I might have to "un-naturalize" a few Joe Pye weed I've seen...I have the black-eyed Susans and agree that they look great together.
I would not have guessed shredded snake skin, and yes, I saw the heart shape.
Mail art is SO interesting - and that box that you share with Alivia is absolutely charming. Wish my grandchildren lived closer. I know that YOU know you are blessed!
Have a happy week, Wanda! I leave here calm and inspired....
It's been too long Wanda! I need to get back blogging again. Other things just have gotten in the way ... It is always so relaxing to visit your blog & I have missed you. Thank you for remembering my birthday. I spent it in Memphis going to Graceland with my son and we have such a wonderful time!!!! I will be posting pictures......
This was a great visual treat, Wanda. I especially liked the photo of the two deer facing in opposite directions. One side of the photo looks like the mirror image of the other. Thanks for sharing.
my goodness, you are surrounded by colorful flowers and full of nature- cute raccoons and insects and much more-- you take beautiful photographs.
Oh, Wanda, I love that mail box idea! Thanks for the walk through your woods...so much to see!
Wanda, you find the most amazing things! Your pictures and stories are always so beautiful. All of the food looks so good. I absolutely love the mailbox idea. What wonderful memories you create with your grandchildren. Lovely, lovely post ♥
Okay, I was totally not expecting that... a snake skin? You actually made it appear very lovely and I suppose, in actuality it is. But I have to admit the naked ladies are just exquisite and I love the shade of pinky purply they are. Are they fragrant too? Such delightful treasures and its always a feast for the imagination coming here :)
Wanda,
Your posts just lift my spirits. It's been a rough couple of days and...I feel revived!
I love all the heart shapes you find. Every time I see something from nature in the shape of a heart I think of you!
Love the picture of the butterfly, they are my favorite...
Hello Wanda. All are amazing scenes and awesome finds. And there might be more!
The mail box and mail art are so beautiful! Love the idea.
Such a sweet gift from Alivia.
Thank you of sharing.
Happy weekend to you and to your family.
xo
I feel like I went for a walk with you, Thanks
Jenny
Astonishing as ever, Wanda!
The hearts, the flowers, the critters, the bottle, the good food, the music, the mail box and mail art, and especially Alivia...I love everything about today's walk with you.
Looks like your day was full with many joyful things. Beautiful photos.
This is such a lovely post, I feel as if I am right "there" on the walks...love the heart bottle! And the hinge is a pretty one...something to ponder over..the food is so tempting! And what fun the mailbox will be, looks as if it has already started with letters for Alivia and for you!
Oh Wanda, Who would have guessed that the first patterned heart shape was a snake skin! Those twin deer look like bookends. I love thinking of Alivia receiving Delwyn's art surprise - isn't our blogging world wonderful? I also like Alivia's cute nodding flowerpot gift to you! I like thinking of your M-i-L's Hibiscus still growing in that fabulous pink color - a good remembrance of her. Your lilies do look like a sunrise. Enjoy!
You're full of surprises... I love hearts too...
You bless us so much... with your music, your love for life, your beautiful photographs and I pray for God to bless you with love and happiness, and health. I pray for your health.
Hugs,
Joey
Wanda, another wonderful post. I loved walking with you around your house. How blessed you are to have your grandchildren near and the mailbox is a lovely idea. You are becoming or already are a pro photographer. Your pictures are composed very well and show a keen eye for beauty. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and that certainly is true about you. Your work reflects your beauty and the richness of your soul. And the food! Is there no limit to your talents? Thank you for sharing all that beauty and thanks for your condolences on my blog also.
Beautiful is the onlyh way I can describe this post. You live in a lovely place and it seems like paradise.
Gorgeous essay! Thank you for this lovely interlude in my day.
What a very enjoyable read - I would like raccoons too, and grandchildren and the array of lovely fauna and flora, but Exmoor is rich too, oh, and I too have rather a lot of courgette - zucchini, butternut squash hot on their heels. I value the time and effort you put into your posts.
A wonderful walk. Thank you.
A wonderful walk. Thank you.
Oh my Wanda, what a joy to come and catch up on reading some of your posts. You are still my favorite. But shhh, don't tell. I love the beauty and the hearts. Yes, of course, I see them right away on your posts. I LOVE the mailbox! and that little solar powered flower is too cute. Once again, you bless me. Joyfully yours,
