Finally

The roses are still blooming...

The morning sun still shines bright...

...and my walk in the woods behind the house...

...was still mostly green...at the end of last week!

There was only a hint of yellow...at the top of most trees.
Not much Autumn color here!

After weeks of drought-like conditions...it was very dry.
Grandson Andrew left a trail of dust...riding his dirt bike.

He often goes airborne off a small hill...
created by his older cousin Dustin...years ago.

But...even with the lack of rain...the field is full of tiny Asters.

.....mostly white and yellow....

I found a tiny white feather...not an inch long...
caught on the tip of a dry and broken stem in the field.

Numerous different butterflies were busy on the Asters...

.....while a pale moth seemed immobilized on a brown leaf.

The missing color outside...had been put into our meals.
The Autumn reds and golds of peppers...

...were roasted in the oven.

They accompanied several meals...

...were layered on sandwiches....

...sprinkled in pizza...

...chopped up for the soup...

...and stuffed the baked potatoes!

For dessert....it wasn't the red peppers...
but a spread of strawberries and cherries...on cake!

Even though...the dessert was very satisfying...

I was finally happy.....to see Red in the trees...

...along with the Gold !

The deer can be seen quickly sprinting...

as the look of Autumn...finally...colors...here!

The two sides of a small heart...found by my son Steve....
and given to me!

The last rose of summer. How beautiful. Wanda, I want to come and eat at your house. All the food so beautiful, just as each of your posts offer such beauty.

I found a stone in the gravel driveway at the lake. A white heart about two inches by two inches. I'd never noticed it before, but I thought of you. I set in on the table on the front porch. Perfect.

Wanda, Wanda, Wanda~
you always make me hungry! I have been eating much "food on the go" lately... so all your home cooked meals look sooooo appealing! Lucky is the person that gets to sit & enjoy a meal with YOU!
I LOVE the tree shot looking up... especially the one on the left... how it twists like that is intriguing! Reminds me of an O'Keefe painting, or Jack & the Beanstalk!
Hope you're having a happy fall!
:)

Love your Blog so many pretty sights and tastes.

Hello Wanda!
Wonderful colours, the red, red rose and the white and yellow asters and the butterflies. Our autumn colours here are not strong either - yet, but they are on the way. This week-end maybe!
I love your meal photos. It looks so delicious. And your desserts and cakes. Uhmmm!
It's amazing how you are able to find those heart stones! I have been looking, when I'm out, but they are not here!!!
Thank you for a lovely walk, Wanda.

Hi Wanda

I am always amazed that you can manage to photograph the butterflies. The ones I see her flit about never settling long enough to have their photo taken.

Happy days

Your photographs are fabulous, Wanda! They always make me feel like I'm walking right along with you.
And the food! Wonderful! (But I'm trying to diet and this post is making my mouth water. I have a feeling today is not going to be a good diet day.)
I especially loved the photo of the peppers in the colander, it makes me think of families, and kitchens, and get-togethers, and my Mom. It really gave me a feeling of nostalgia.
And of course I love the heart rock!
Beautiful post!
Love to you,
Eileen
PS ~ I'll be away for the next few weeks, so I'll visit again at the end of October.

The photo of the two tree trunks (looking up through them) captured MY eye...and at the prompting of YOUR roast peppers, I will roast some here today!

If I ever knew those were asters, I had forgotten. I see them growing in the cracks of little-used sidewalks as I walk to the post office each day.

Wishing you a pleasant ending to your week and thanking you for the pleasure of your photo-company today!

It's amazing to see so little color someplace else. The asters are beautiful as are the butterflies feeding on them. Butterflies seems to really flourish late in the season, flocking to the few remaining flowers.

Enjoy your fall!

An autumn rose to set the stage for the loveliest post. There is something about colored peppers that is infectious - you can never have enough. You've given me a craving now... and I always cave in. Have a beautiful, color-filled week!

Hello Wanda, I've been waiting for your fall post. I love the sun shining down on the curving lane and the white (furry!) moth. Is that red yarrow still blooming in your garden? I photographed my pink still showing some color the end of last week, but now Bernie is right - snow is covering my gardens. Your delicious meals always make me hungry - must go and make supper for Bob. He just returned from a bike ride here in Denver. Enjoy your fall colors, Wanda.

Hi, Wanda,
The sunlight through the trees is sooo pretty!
I didn't see any butterflies on my asters; those are great captures.
I envy your reds as nearly all of our trees are shades of gold.
Oh, and your stuffed potato looks outrageous! :o)

Hi, Wanda, this is a stunning display of your surroundings and your photography!

Last red rose and asters, some blooming and some withering, hint coming and going. The whole woods look alive, and I feel I could hear the faint silvery tone of angels in the sunlight filtering through leaves.

I enjoyed accompanying your walks...., and the delicious meals. Many thanks, I'm so full!

Good Morning Wanda!
Thank you for your fabulous photos and interesting story!
Your shining garden behind the house is very fresh. It so much reminds me of a trail of twinkling pixie dusts that Tinker Bell leaves.

I am sure that your grandson Andrew loves to see you and have your hearty meals!
They look so delicious!! I like your plate of shellfish patterned.
Please enjoy your fall and be well!

The longer it takes for autumn colors to turn, the better in my book...our autumn colors are past their prime for the most part, and it has been warmer than usual and with very little rain. This is another lovely post Wanda, the food looks as good as ever...love that shot looking straight up thru the two trees...and love the latest heart! :o)

Your trees are finally taking on those beautiful colours.
And the sedum, isn't it a lovely Fall plant, I have two in different shades of rust/red.
We also have asters but ours are purple.
The roasted peppers look delicious. We like to eat seasonally when we can, and have been enjoying all the different squash varieties we can find, as well as pumpkin cakes and pies.
I especially love the shot of the sunlight through the trees, it looks so tranquil. Enjoy your weekend..

Similar here in parts, temperatures between 10 & 15C so everything is gradually changing but halted by bright sun too. I've noticed an unusual number of damsel flies flying low on my walks but no sprinting red deer, ours are still grazing slowly. How come you're not the size of a bungalow with your fantastic cooking?

I feel refreshed and relaxed after enjoying your pictures and words. What a beautiful place you have. I have a theory about all those heart rocks. I think the angels have left their hearts after they've ministered to earth's residents. I'm going to be opening my eyes to rocks--always have as I love them, but not lately since the grands keep me busy. Thank you for opening my eyes to nature again after several years of heart and eyes too burdened to see it. God bless you

I noticed asters on my last walk, too. Was amazed to see them amidst the dead big leaf maple leaves. What a wonderful story you've told here - although it's made me really hungry for some reason. :-)

The feather picture is my favorite.

...lovely and peaceful--another beautiful post. I love the heart rock -- and yum for the spectacular meals!!

It's amazing how hard mother nature is hanging onto the green! We're starting to get more color, but I've lost a lot of bushes do to the drought and a pine.

Another heart!! I'm so happy for you, Wanda!

I've figured out what it is that I love about you. You search and seek for life and beauty. You find things that other might overlook or walk by. That is a huge gift that you have.

Another gift is that you share your finds with us. You put all of together, with music and wording and present it to us like a wrapped present.

Thank you, and God bless you.

Hi again, Wanda!! I'm commenting again (hope you don't mind..) but wanted to tell you that I have 12 doves that are feeding at my bird bath (I put wild bird seed underneath the bath on the grass)....and the doves have discovered that they have a 'feasting' place. Bluebirds love to splash and splatter all the water out of the birdbath....but I get such a smile watching them do it....and I fill it up for them each day (that I am home!) I wanted to say hello again....(I'm home for a little while....probably off again in a bit....back to N.C.) but wanted to say hello....and that I'm thinking of you!
Love,
Jackie

Oh Wanda! I just found your blog via DJan at Eye On The Edge. You write like a poet and your photographs are exceptional. I too love hearts, nature, family and food. Your food pics made me hungry. I absolutely LOVE the photo of the tree with the bracnches forming a heart. I also paint, would it be OK for me to paint that particular picture? I too collect heart shaped rocks. I also love the pic of the knot hole in the tree shaped like a heart. your selected music and over all feel of your blog is like going to a spa! I feel so relaxed, peaceful as if I just came in from a wonderful walk in nature. I will be following you! Thank you for sharing your creativity.

I can't add to anything that hasn't been said. Again you have given us a beautiful experience for to read and listen to your posts is an experience. It is a visit to another place, a place of peace and beauty. I loved it all. There was so much I must play it again.
