May Mornings

Things are about the same here at my house!

I still get up early and take Grandsons Andrew and Dylan to school.
This was the sunrise on one of those early May mornings.

Several May mornings brought heavy rains and fog to our area.
It usually doesn't pool in the backyard.

The flower season came a few weeks earlier this year.
The cool blues and whites were some of the first....

..... the soft pretty pinks were fresh looking ....

..... and the orange and reds looked lively!
I work outside in the mornings and go in to fix our main meal at noon.

Some meals were lighter than others, but most are heavy with vegetables.

Some desserts are lighter than others too!
Peach trifle and banana pudding versus chocolate mousse butter cake and chocolate pie!

From my front porch I see many things.

A lone male Bluebird was splashing in the birdbath one morning.

Soon a young juvenile wonders in....his offspring most likely.
Maybe dad is demonstrating....how to properly splash.

Soon Mom appears....

.....and the Dad takes off!

Other happenings I saw farther down the drive one morning....
Turkey vultures perched in a row on the fence rail.
Our Sunday paper delivery man apparently didn't see a turtle in the drive!

Another morning there were baby foxes going down the drive....
before crossing into the field on their way home.

Sadly a few days later....one was found lifeless....now there's only one.

One baby fawn with family was spotted a few mornings later.
Mom kept her eye on me and I kept my distance!

Later while taking a walk and passing over this bridge....

....the spots of the fawn were just barely visible...can you see it?

The fawn lay perfectly still as I took the 3 photos on the left.
Another morning I found it more in the open....3 photos on the right!

Pileated woodpeckers, hawks, rabbits, Cardinals and Eastern Phoebes are some of the usual visitors I see on my morning walks.

There are many photo opportunities.....shadows and patterns on logs, fern growing in the woods, a deer snatching apples, blackberries forming on the vine, wild roses taking over a fence, 4 leaf clovers waiting to be found, baby robins in the barn, dragon flies in the field, baby robins in the shed, roses peeking through, bamboo getting thicker and wild flowers in bloom.

Most mornings are sunny and rosy...

...although my flower garden is being threatened by a clover take over!

May is over....
...hope June finds me making more frequent posts!

I hope so, too - (June finds you making more frequent posts)!

I am always amazed at the variety of wildlife you see & are able to photograph....even though I've come to expect it. And those vegetable meals look SO tasty!

I did see a couple of turkey vultures today on a country road.

Oh, and I missed Olivia.

This is such a lovely post!
I love every photo but I can't decide which I like best. Of course I always love the floral shots, but today for me the real stand-outs are the sunrise, the back porch photo (makes me feel like I am right there!), the little bluebird splashing, the lone little fox in the sunlight, the baby fawn photos (ALL of them!), the deer standing to eat off the tree, the log in the shadows, the clover, and the baby birds (especially that shot with the mouth open!).
Oh, heck, they're all so wonderful!

Hey, what happened to your pretty music?
You know, at first I was really missing it, but then I got so engrossed in your photography I didn't notice anymore.
(I was so engrossed that Ray just said, "Eileen, I've been calling and calling you!")

Really pretty post, I'm off to look at it again. And then I'm going to call Ray over to look.
Enjoy your weekend, Wanda!
Love and Prayers,
Eileen
PS ~ I'm hoping to post more often too! I actually have posts set up from awhile ago that I never published. I'll have to go through them.

Fantastic pictures. So sad about the loss of the pretty little baby fox, but the bluebirds bathing were gorgeous. Great gathering of wonderful pictures, I enjoyed them all! :-)

I hope you'll post more often, too! I love seeing what's happening at the end of the curving lane. How priceless to see the baby creatures. Enjoy your gardens and your woods, Wanda. I hope your Family is well.

You have such a beautiful garden and the wildlife around you is enchanting. How do you keep them from eating your flowers? While we were in New York some rabbit, or other, came and ate all the flowers my husband planted in the pots across our kitchen window - about 10 very large pots – to the roots. Now the pots are only showing the dirt and he does not want to go and buy more flowers to plant. So I am happy to look at yours as there is nothing to see here.

Hello dear friend, no wonder Amanda gets homesick....your yard, lawns, flowers, animals, birds, meals....I could go on and on, are so beautiful. It does my heart good to read one of your post.
Hope everyone is well, big hugs to Alivia and a special hug to you.
.....:-)

Wanda,

How lovely your world is and what a mistake on my part that I've let myself stray from your sharing.

That rose in the pink section - beautiful.

I'm curious how you gather the energy to cook such beautiful meals. After 33 years of marriage and cooking every night, I am drained of ideas and energy for the task. Perhaps the difference - you don't view it as a task.

That fox looks so lost all on its own! I enjoyed all your photos again, it's always a feast to come visit you. And I'm always so amazed to see how pretty your world is! Looking forward to more posts!

I enjoyed my visit here so much! You have such talent for photography-and especially getting just the right shot of all those critters.
Your meals make mine look so pathetic....I've really got to do something about that....
Your spot in the world is so very peaceful.
Love, Debra

Wanda- just breathtaking as always! I am completely in awe of all the wildlife surrounding you and your ability to capture it in photos. What a blessing to see such beauty and abundance surrounding you- even if it is clover! My son and I just watched a baby sparrow take a mud bath... so cute and funny at the same time :) Thanks for turning my eye to all that surrounds me too!

Wonderful shots per usual though was quite sad about the loss of the baby fox. They are my favorite animal.
The blue bird sequence was wonderful. Families that bathe together, stay together.
Thank you for another lovely retreat.

Hi, Wanda! The sunrise of May morning photo is awe-inspiring, I see a goddess with her hair streaming out in the wind and a dragon flying straight. The flower season came a few weeks later this year in my part of the world due to the prolonged severe winter. Your winter looks to have been warmer. I’d like to sit on your front porch and watch wildlife coming and going in person. I’ve also seen newly born fawns in Nara Park, too. Now is deer childbirth season. Your collages are as beautiful as ever. Are your husband’s knees restored fully? Wish you a bright and peaceful June.

Wanda...I do hope that you and your family are doing well. I've missed you a lot. I truly have. The first photo on your blog is breathtakinginly beautiful. Those clouds are spectacular...so soft looking and have that 'painted' look to them. Just beautiful.
My parents feed 4 fox(es) at their home on the country. They have a plate of "supper" out for them every evening at 6 P.M. They've been doing that for over a year. They (my parents) love to watch them come and partake...and the fox(es) seem to know where the "buffet" will be and when...every single day. They are my parents' "wild" puppies...Such pleasure watching nature, isn't it.
Your photos of the birds are too cute. I love to watch our birds take a bath...they will splash and splash, and I have to refill their bath several times a day.
Lovely blog....simply lovely.
I have missed you, and I send you great big hugs. I hope that you feel them.
Jackie

Hi Wanda!
What a wonderful view of May. Your flowers and photos of creatures big and small are such a treat to see. The bluebird photos are precious. How I wish we lived in more open land to enjoy these sweet birds. I have spotted them flying through the fields on my way to work. This was a grand surprise early this spring!

Your robins are also plentiful! This year we have a new nest on the brick post... and she only has one baby. I believe there were two to start.

Wishing you a June filled with many wonders too!
*blessings always,
Maria

It's always such a pleasure to walk the ground with you, share a meal, a thought, a glance. Post when you will - I will be here. Spring brings such movement to wildlife. We are always trying to save turtles and baby geese and such as they cross the roads. It's not their fault automobiles were invented! Happy June to you. It's all just beginning again.

Wanda , thank you for this look into your wonderful world. It really is a paradise, and thank you for sharing it with us. I love those little bluebirds taking a bath, and the fawn in the grass. Great photos. I could see the spots of the fawn.
All those animals you see near the house, it must be a wonderful experience. And the cardinals with this fabulous red colour.

Lovely food! Uhmmm!! I'm hungry again now. A chocolate cake. Oh, maybe I could buy just a little piece of dark chocolate today?

What a wonderful walk in your garden. Thank you Wanda for your May Mornings. See you in June!

Cheers

Hello, how refreshing your post was this morning when I caught up on a few old friends. Ahhh it is a little piece of heaven on earth isn't it? We have a wonderful bird bath and house that huh honey has made and the birds don't even stop by for a splash and feed. We must have very scary birds (sigh) I thought for sure our bird bath would be visited often because of the heat...oh well.
