.....No Spring Flowers...But...

No spring flowers...but this
beautiful sunrise started my day!

The pale moon
even hung around
to see it...
they both...
shared the same sky.
.

Me...
I hated to go in...
so decided to have...
this treat outside.

and dunking was...
necessary!

Afterwards...
I still...
hated to go in.
But...
spring flowers are no where...
to be found.
Only
a little green moss...
and patches of snow.

So...
it's down to the creek
to watch the water flow.

While walking the creek...
I found this heart...
I made it glisten with water.
Look closely at the tip...
underwater...
another small heart!

The next day...
company came...
sometimes I goof...
I call her...Alivia Shayne,
but that's NOT
her middle name.
It's Alivia Ruth!
You see Shayne...
and big sister Amanda...
well...
it's her...middle name.

I had promised Alivia...
a walk in the woods.
It was the treasure tree
she wanted to see.

It was as empty...as could be...
Maybe "next time"
there will be something to see!

Alivia saw the creek in the distance...
I convinced her...that we should
search the woods before we go...
that maybe...
we could find things of interest.

You never know!

Luckily...
She found this rock

It's not a flower...
but...it is new spring moss!

.

Farther along...
we found an ancient skeleton..
maybe a cross between
an anaconda and a dinosaur!
Maybe!

We also discovered an odd tree!
A very hollow Beech Tree!

Alivia didn't crawl through...
but she could have!
Maybe another time!

As you see this tree was
was very close to the creek
She did explore the backside...

which looked like this!

Then it was down to the creek!
Immediately...
the hands went into the water...

...and the mud!

Eventually the feet went there too!

We do NOT stay clean or dry...
when near the creek!
We don't even try!

The path home is just around the bend...

...and up over this hill is home.
This is the large tree that fell
last fall!

Closer to home...
she runs off and leaves me...
over behind the garden area.

Remember that colorful
Sunrise
that started my morning...
...the day before?
The one
with pink, purple and yellow hues...

The one that made me
think
blackberries and peaches...

...mixed together in a pan...

...and baked till brown and crisp!

Though craving it badly...
I had to wait...for it to cool
and settle for...
vegetarian chili for lunch.

But !
I did enjoy the Crisp later.
~
I also...
enjoyed this lovely flower...

though...no spring flowers yet!

It is a gift from a friend!

I told HER... I would share it with YOU!

Thanks to EVERYONE...
that visits...Moments of Mine!

....Reasons To Smile

I'm thinking Bluebirds and Spring...

Strawberries...
.

...and Nectarines...
...just wanting to post...
about cheerful things!

Morning sun makes me...
feel my best...

as does afternoon sun...
shining on my desk!

So...
I gathered some costume jewelry...
I thought you might like to see.
Things of my Mother's
now passed on to me.

These belonged to
maternal great grandparents...
both she and he!

This was my paternal grandmother's...
who once lived with me.

Inside....
a medal it now has...

one....
once carried by...
my Dad.

My Mother's Elgin Compact
a gift from Dad to her...62 years ago.

When opened...you find intact...
a mirror

and a shallow compartment
in the back.

Or maybe...
~
I'll show you...
our snow-less porch again...
~
which...
fairly recently...
I only slightly cleaned...

just enough...
~
to reflect the trees...
where the song birds...
sit and sing.

It all looks...
so sunny and bright...
~
but...
the reality is
~
there's still snow...
even if...
only slight.

Before the snow...
became so slight...
from my porch...this was my sight.

~photos enlarge~

Did you see him...
sitting there?
~
A Red Shouldered Hawk...
looking to his right...

just before he turned...

and took off in his flight...

quickly soaring and finding height!

~photos enlarge~

Remember the Bamboo...
laid low by the snow?
~
Well...it's on the rise...

and finding height too!

And...
along with the Daffodils...
that are pushing through...

Shapes of hearts...
are developing too!

Even raccoons are peeping...
from the steps on the mound.

The snow is receding...
there's some green to be found!

An early morning...
visit with Dylan...
brought a smile...
to his and my face.

Last night...Andrew...
left with a smoothie...I made...
taking it home...
back to his place.

And..
Alivia's homework....
100 pages of it...

proudly sits...
along with other's...
in the school's...
displaying case!

Reasons to Smile...
are commonplace...
this 'ribbon' in the sky....
with it's look of lace...

Well...

...it even put a Smile...
on this cold Rock's face!

"Think......Spring!"
