.....Greening and Filling

This was the sunrise on Good Friday...
creating that heart shape in the sky...

walking closer to the field...
a different and smaller one can be seen....
beyond the other.
~

Friday...
this...
was our early morning sunrise...
it came with snow...
our last...I hope!
.

Remember...
I told you the stomping deer...
would return...
~
...and they did!

The snow was gone...
by late afternoon.
Then Saturday morning...
I was out for a walk...
looking for green.
~
I found moss...
and it's little spiky growths
at the base of a tree...
along with brown leaves...
.

...lots of brown leaves...
and more green moss...
making it's way up this tree.

I walked deeper...
to an area I hadn't ventured before.
It was thick with understory shrubs...
that were only...
just hinting green...

...I found green moss growing here...
up 6 ft. high in a tree.

Suddenly...
I wasn't alone...
~
Can you see him?
It looks like Shrek...
~
don't you think?

He was here in this area...
of hollow and twisted...
Beech Trees...

...and a bent...broken...
odd growing tree!
A sea serpent...
maybe?

Just after leaving this area...
I heard this from there...
I must have disturbed an owl!

It's very short and low...in the distance!

While there...
I also found this heart...
~
...but look closely.

It was actually taken upside down...
the ground is at the top.

The creek area looked like this...
last week...

and sounded like this...

Then this week...
yesterday in fact...
that same area...from higher above...
is filling with green...
and a bit of color!
~

Now...
you can find these
Rue Anemone.....

...this Cut-Leaved Toothwort...

...and Purple Cress!

Closer to home...
the Daffodils are hanging on...

...standing their ground...
on the right side of the drive...

(photos enlarge)

competing with the...
Forsythia ...
in bloom on the left.

And soon the Wild Rose...
will come into play...
with it's sweet smell....
filling the air.

Meanwhile...
the tiny Spring Beauties ...
are the star in the field...

while the wild...
Dwarf Cinquefoils
spring up between the rocks...

...and the tiny
Persian 'Birdseye' Speedwell...
looks for crevices to fill...

...and
the snow white Bloodroot...
with it's yellow heart...
pops out all over...
right from the start!

There's other things
that fill up my time...
like watching this Cardinal...
as he dines.

The Eastern Bluebirds
have taken up residence....
I believe we have 2 or 3 families.
One pair...I have given names...
~
Here's Billy...sitting on the well...

and this is Bernie...
she often sits high...
near the peak of the house!

They fill me with Happiness...
as all of you did...
with your Birthday Greetings
earlier this week!
~
Here's a few cards I received...
note the one on the right...
with purple flowers.
Alivia made it.
The book about flowers is on the front.

Inside she prints...
~
Violets are Blue
Roses are Red
I'm glad it's your Birthday...
on March 30th.
I Hope You Like My Poems Gramma!

~
I certainly did!

Weeds and Forsythia she picked...
for her Mom...

and..
a hazy photo of Alivia
looking up at...

a hazy moon with me...
last Saturday evening...
just before dark.
~

All this week ...
my heart has been full!
Thanks to my family...
and blogging friends too!
~
I Wish Everyone an Easter Sunday
filled with lots of Joy!
~
Happy Easter!

♥...Wanda

.....Spotted Things

These little White Trout Lilies....

are blooming in the woods.
They have spotted leaves...
and...are...
the first wild flowers to appear here...
.

Just a few are showing themselves.
I almost overlooked them.

I had just photographed this tree's
odd roots and knothole,
when I spotted them.

Spring...
hasn't brought much change to the woods...
just yet!

I did find this colorful log....

and this
scarlet cup fungus...
Sarcoscypha Coccinea.
I know it's name...
because I looked it up!

Also found in the woods
fairly often...
is Grandson Andrew!
Note...
the perfectly round rock in his hand.

He had to toss and catch it...

"many" times before I was able
to catch it with my camera.

It was hard to spot...
but finally...
success!

Closer to home...
there are spots of change...
here and there.

The Naked Ladies are growing tall...
but they need to die back...
before they bloom.

In the distance...
the round beds of Daylilies
are forming.

Behind the swing...
in the greening field...
is the last wet spot to dry...
in the spring.

It reflects clouds on sunny days.

On this sunny day in the clouds...
Andrew and I saw seven
Turkey Vultures...
circling above!
Can you spot them?

~enlarges~
Later in the week...
I spotted 33 fly over...
going to visit a fellow blogger!

The red Cardinal will be easier to spot...

~enlarge to see~

but...
did you notice the small heart shape...
on the tree above?

~
Now...
Can you spot the Bluebird below?

~enlarges~

It is there!

While Herhusband and I...
were picking up small twigs and branches...
~
this tiny Red Velvet Mite
was fairly easy to spot on
the edge of the fence board.

It's bright red stood out well...
as it made it's way across...

...to the other edge.
They emerge after an early
spring rain and live on
decomposing leaves.

This bright red...
will be easy to spot too!

Grandson Nathan came down
to show us his first car!
He graduates soon!

To make up for the
lack of much color outside...
colorful meals ...
were on the agenda...
or at least...I tried.

Spaghetti & Avocadoes

Chicken & Roasted Pepper Stuffed Celery

Cabbage, Carrots & Veg. Sausage

Shrimp, Artichokes,Peppers & Spinach Pasta

Then ...
on another day...
while Herhusband and I...
were raking up a few leaves...
this spot of pink color...
was all over the place!
~
After surprising herself...
at the narrow path...

...she concentrated more fully...

to the job at hand!

I think Alivia's visit and
drive through the garden...

surprised the Daffodils...
into blooming!

They are a cheerful flower....
to look forward to in the Spring.

Most of these were transplanted
a few years ago...
from an old farmhouse garden
that once stood...
in another area of the property.

At least...they bloomed in time...

to be company for the...
Crocus!

This is the company I spotted...
in the garden...
very late one evening!

I believe...
they were trying to scare me away!

But...You see who ran!

They will come back...hope you do too!
