Remnants of Christmas!

Christmas Day 2009 may be over....

and a cold winter air has settled in.
~

Still.....there's some Christmas leftovers....

and among them.....my favorite snowmen....

Could stay in and be warmed by the fire.....

or take a walk in the woods...in the snow.....

which would leave me.....thankfully tired....

for all those calories....I would burn...I know.

So on with the boots, scarf, hood, and, gloves.....

and out the back door....to venture and find.....

what might be on the grounds or above.....
or just in this imagination.....of mine.

Went to the top of the hill.....
Looked to my left and then right.....

did find a little church steeple....

and foot prints left in the night!

Some small prints were intermingled.....

Some?..... were they feathered or furred???

One.....was only a grape vine tendril.....

maybe knocked from above by a squirrel.

Returned home.....and warmed up with coffee.

There's remnants of Christmas.....everywhere.....

Snowmen by the towels you can see...

and even one by.....the kitchen ware!

There's children's past artwork still hanging....

all reminders that Santa was here!

Candy canes in cups are still dangling....

bringing back all those thoughts so dear!

Gifts for Alivia.....were a soft pink blanket....

....a book and a pink.....reclining chair.

She read of a little boy's lost mitten....

and animals that were willing to share.

Christmas was sweet and peaceful.....

with beautiful scenes of snow!

Making Wanda.....all the more thankful.....

for the Village of Bloggers....she's come to know!

Hi Wanda: Love the new look of your blog - had to check for a second to make sure I was really chez Wanda. Once I saw the photos of your home, hearth, and land I knew I was in the right place.

If your Christmas was as beautiful, gracious and peaceful as your blog photos - it must have been wonder - full.

Hope we continue to connect in the New Year - and hope 2010 is a healthy, happy one for you and your dear family.

Hello Wanda, I forgot to mention last time how much I enjoy the Christmas motif on your Blog. Of course, I had to enlarge all those tracks to see what I could see... Looks like you had some sort of convention in the snow outside your house! Are those the peanut butter cup candies that your Grandchildren love? I'm afraid to step on the scale, but I don't have many leftovers to tempt me - just like to look at yours! I love Jan Brett's books. She is a wonderful illustrator. I also have The Mitten, and the Grandchildren love to read it.

It gave me a little zing of surprise that you ended with Robert Frost's Snowy Evening - I just looked up that poem and also Two Roads Diverged!

It's been wonderful to visit you this year via your blog, Wanda. I wish you a very Happy 2010!

Seasons greetings, Wanda!

I oooh’ed over your platters and bowls, ahhh’ed over the critter footprints, and just plain smiled at Alivia’s joy in her new blanket. Long live the Snowmen!

Hugs from Jain

I can't wait to get here...I honestly can't wait to get here.
Wanda...where are the hearts in the snow. That's the only thing missing...everything is perfect...picture perfect. I was hoping that a creature had left a heart-shaped print...and then the ultimate masterpiece...!!!
Your blogsite is warm, beautiful...full of love.
Thank you again and again for a beautiful blog...a place I love to come again and again.
Hugs,
Jackie

And your food is making me want to go raid the refrigerator (we have lots of left-overs too!).

I especially loved seeing the picture of Alivia opening her gift! So sweet, so joyful!

I'm loving your 'Christmas blog look', how did I miss it before?!

I don't know if I'll be on again until next week, busy all this week.
New Year Blessings!

Very warm and inviting Wanda, and I would love to take a walk in your winter wonderland with you, and I am sure Molly would love it too. I have been enjoying it's beauty and the crisp air, and stopping and silently listening to the 'sound of winter', it is very different than the sounds of the other seasons. Loved your post, and your Robert Frost books...(((HUGS)))) T

Lovely post as usual, and The Mitten book! I have my daughter's copy, I love Jan Brett's illustrations! If you haven't seen her Owl and Pussycat version, it's gorgeous! Of course I loved seeing more of your snowmen! ;o) But, all of the post is just wonderful as always, including your way of rhyming 'softly'.

Back atcha related to being thankful for other bloggers.

Your photos were lovely!
Here, we keep all the snowmen decorations separate and only put them up in January after we put away the Xmas decorations.
Your snowmen are adorable.

Your poetry is so lovely, wanda and then you do your magic with great photography and we have a work of art!

Love all the places that the snowmen are in your home and they are so cute too!

Now that you have shown your storybook land in winter, it makes one wonder if Disney will finally give us a Snow White in A Wintry Wonderland story???

May abundant blessings and happiness be yours in this New Year, my friend!

...your posts are always so beautiful and calming, and I really like that (I love your new music too). I have both of those books. The illustrated poem of Robert Frost I bought for myself...and the Mitten for Matty. I used to love reading that book to him every night. He loved her paintings. I decorate with both books at Christmas now too!! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I really enjoy your posts - the photos are really great with the contrast of the cold snowy ones to the warm photos inside (some of which are of snowmen figurines :)).

I like the image with the bird tracks, such a familiar image around our bird feeder.

Each time a call goes to voicemail, I need to turn my iphone off than back on to retrieve it. I would think that I didn't need to do this in order to retrieve my voicemails?! I checked everything in the settings section to see if there was something to reset this, but to no avail.
