The snow crusted raspberry vines cling to the fence...
while we cling to the warmth of the house...inside.

From the windows we watched the birds...
feed at the feeders and come to the porch...
to sit awhile.
~
I threw together (literally) some
Cherry Somethings...
visit the feeder.....

I also....
while clinging to the house...
had a few special treats with Alivia...

I often watched my favorite bird...
this little round Carolina Wren.
He spends the night, in the blinds...
on the front porch.

Home from school, because of the snow...
Alivia and I played dot to dot...
when she visited...

and we watched while the little wren...
did his dance on the suet feeder.

up and down.....

.....round and round.

Alivia loves to cook with me.....
Here, she seriously works.....
with a plastic knife.

With a slight bit of help.....
she makes a beautiful...
cheese filled omelet.....

and eats it with a smile!

Then.....
it's back to bird watching the Cardinals.....
while we cling to the house!

Some birds seemingly.....
were starting to disapprove!

Finally though,
I did manage a few walks in the snow!

Looks like a beautiful day. I love looking at your journey's and wish I could visit for some of those cherry somethings and hot cocoa.
A lovely post Wanda, - you have captured such beautiful images and accompanied them with fine text. It is wonderful to be able to 'see' the countryside as you do.
Your cherry somethings look very tempting....as does the cheese omelet.
Thanks for sharing your walk.
You do Winter proud, Wanda! Beautiful photos! Your Cherry Somethings look wonderful, one of my favorite flavors. I wish Wrens would come to my suet! Alivia has such pretty eyes.
Keep warm!
HI WANDA-
oh my, what a wonderful Winter's day walk about your beautiful nature-land. I saw and felt it all through your amazing pictures and I loved every step with you.
And the 'cherry something' looked so yummy. :-)
I am still struggling to navigate your blog - it stalls and stops as I scroll and or type a comment - I don't understand. grrrrrrrrrr
Still, I was able to see it all and I loved it - your home is so inviting, your nature-land so full of gifts in all the seasons - and your life - with your family so close warms my heart and soul.
Love Gail
peace.....
The wonder of winter and the warmth of home, you have captured it all in your lovely post.
Keep warm.
Sunny :)
I'm having a little of the same problem as Gail. But it was worth the frustration to see those beautiful cardinals against the background of snow. Delightful child, grand Creation.talented photographer --great combination!
Wanda you paint a tender, peaceful, beautiful portrait of your life in your home and in nature. It is the stuff of
Courrier & Ives Greeting Cards.
How blessed you are ... and how blessed I feel that you share it with me (us).
Thank all of you for your wonderfully kind comments...I'm curious as to why Gail and Rebecca are having problems viewing...If others are, I would like to know.
Maybe it's because of a dial-up situation. I'll investigate!
Wow, I am in awe of your photography, I wish I could get such close up shots.

Wanda, I was moved to tears by your beautiful words and photos and the soft accompanying music. I don't know why...just feeling sentimental today, I guess. Thank you for this.
Okay, I'm gonna cry here because I'm having trouble too!
No, I'm not really crying, but I am really having such a problem, I can't enlarge any pictures, when I try to all I get is some kind of little colorful pinwheel that won't stop spinning and then I'm frozen and can't scroll up or down! But that's okay, because whatever spot I get stuck in here at Wanda's Wonderland is pretty to look at.
I was able to enlarge the deer picture, but that was the only one. The video at first wouldn't come through for me either (that pinwheel again!), but finally on the third try I did get to see/hear the birds.
Really pretty post, Wanda. The pictures of the trees are all so pretty. And I loved hearing how you and Alivia spend your time together.
It's cold here again today too, Jayden had half-day at school and when I went to pick him up it felt good to walk in the cold, and the sky was so blue and so pretty, and the top of the church next to the school looked beautiful against the sky, I was sorry I didn't bring my camera.
Tonight is supposed to get really cold again and we are going out to Ray's niece (Erika) pinning/candlelight ceremony, she's graduating Nursing School. I don't mind the cold as long as there is no wind, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I loved Alivia's cheese/egg omelet and I think I will be making myself one for lunch now!
And I'll be back later for a more leisurely walk and hopefully my computer woes won't hinder it!
Love to you,
Eileen
Oh Wanda you make winter look as truly beautiful as it is! I'd love to go for a walk there with you and have a cup of that delicious looking whatever it was with you!
Love Di
Wanda...I'm not having trouble viewing any of your blog..or any one else's either. I hope that those that are having trouble can find out what the problem is.
I love the photos of Alivia cooking with you. She did a great job.
Your winter photographs are always splendid...a a blog I love to visit more than once. Beautiful, Wanda.
Hugs from Jackie
...wasn't it amazing waking up to see those frosted trees? Rick woke me up saying "you've got to see this. Everything is frosted!" ....I love your disapproving cardinal and you chickadee movie. It's beautiful out there right now, maybe a bit cold, but I'll take it!
It has been so hot here, at least 105 degrees, possibly more. Too hot to go out also humid so the evaporitive air con doesnt work well. A lot of reading and dvd warching, not the best for 2 grandchildren.
Thank goodness we now have some rain, but still warm so your photos made me feel cool for a little while,
am afraid as I get older I prefer cold to heat.
Hi Wanda, another wonderful post..You have the same birds around as I do..and I love the wrens to,they are so fat and cheerful looking..the cardinals are always a little scared of everything...could be Shag the Cat..your winter and woods are like mine..just amazing....take care Wanda...see you next time..keep warm..
Wanda, I am not having any trouble opening your blog at all...so wish the other's didn't as I know how much that will bother you.
Love this post and your place is a true winter wonderfland with the birds, deer and beautiful snow laden trees. When Alivia smiles she smiles with her whole face, it just lights up the room she is such a cutie......wish I were closer so we could sit by the fire and chat with a cup of hot chocolate....big hugs to Alivia and you my friend.....:-0 Hugs
Hi Wanda, I always love visiting with you and Alivia, I just can't imagine being snowed in although I have been snowed in before! I am bike riding in the weather we have been having lately! Wonderful post Wanda, I would love to be held up in your beautiful home with something cooking or baking! hugs and smiles across the miles....
I enjoyed this post, as always. You call them Chicadees? We call them Tits, or mezen in Flemish. They used to nest on my patio, but they didn't last year. I hope they'll be back this year!
Hello Wanda,
Your wonderful post gave me a great deal of pleasure today, Wanda. I just loved the snow-covered curving lane, the shot of the distant snowy trees with the swing, and the glaring cardinal. I wish I had one of those cherry-somethings. I believe the tracks in your creek bed are from a fox. Alivia is such a little cook - she takes after you! All the birds like to visit you as much as I do. I must tell you how much I like your new blog wallpaper - so pretty! Stay cozy, Wanda - enjoy your snow.
Hmmmm... cheese filled omelet. :)
Take Care

I love reading your blog and seeing the gorgeous scenery. I feel like I'm there- by the time I got to the end I could feel the fresh snow and the chill in the air! Such refreshing moments!!!
Huggz,
Quieten
Hi Wanda! How beautiful are all the birds included here... The close up of the cardinal was so great!
I often think of how faithful the seasons are... and I think of all that is in nature waiting out the winter... But I haven't forgotten the gusty thunderstorms of the spring and summer!
Some of the most beautiful moments are these wintry ones though. Thank you for capturing them so sweetly...
With very Warm Wishes ~ Maria
WHat a wonderful walk it must have been Wanda. You get to see so much wildlife. And the snow makes everything look so gorgeous.
I loved these photos! (I'm not having any trouble viewing them). You are truly blessed to live in such a nature wonderland.
Alivia is precious. The dot-to-dot brought back long-ago memories!
You can throw together some "cherry somethings" for me anytime!
What a lovely post Wanda! It seems so peaceful where you live. I would love to walk through the woods and see nature at it's best. Olivia is beautiful ♥ I really like all of the pictures of the little birds you post. Thank you for the comments you leave on my blog.
You had me at Cherry Somethings. Almost had to tear away for breakfast.
Loved the walk in the snow with you,how totally beautiful. I just love the quiet snow brings to our hectic world.
Alivia will be a great cook thanks to Grandma taking such an interest in her and showing her the ropes. A nice young man will owe you big time some day.
I wish you had better luck on getting a good picture of that sun like you commented on my blog. It was the most unusual I have ever seen.
You got some great photos in this post. And that should have been among them. LOL
Hi Wanda,
Such a beautiful Winter Wonderland. You have so much beauty that surrounds you every day. Always something new to explore. I love to walk, explore, and see new things. How wonderful it would be to be right beside you as you walk. I am so glad that you share your world with us so I can visually be right beside you.
Thank you, Wanda.
Have a wonderful day.
Keep warm!
Wow your posting is unique and your photography is simply stunning, I'm glad I followed a link from Know Your It's because today I've found a blog I'm guaranteed to visit again and again.
Frosted trees are a thing of beauty. As is your walk. I love finding places where the deer sleep. I would like to have hot cocoa with you. Alivia is very lucky. And those cherry "somethings" really are something!
Wonderful reminders to look at the beauty in nature! Thank you for sharing these photos.
Be still my heart! Those CARDINALS!
I love, love those birds...we have one elusive one here...he has only shown himself twice and he is very skiddish...never comes to the feeder (dang!)
Hi Wanda
you are right -
You do live in Paradise - how about you take winter paradise and I have summer paradise for now?
Your photos of the outdoors are so monochromatic - like they have been adjusted. That's snow for you - paints the world with a dusting of white.
I especially loved the snow on the bamboo - very Japanese...
I can see Alivia growing up over the months...what lovely company she must be...
those cherry somethings look very scrummy...
happy days Wanda
It is so good and peaceful and sweet to come and read leisurely and enjoy your photos. We do so love watching birds at our home as well but I seldom get any pictures. They are shy and my camera has a delay after I press to take a photo. You are such a wonderful grandma, mama, and wife. I love your quiet gentle ways. Hugs to you
Wanda,
So beautiful. I almost feel the chill from walking with you along the way. The cardinals. Beautiful post.
I love that you feed the birds.
Your beautiful pictures make me almost miss winters....
Beautiful! Enjoy your day!
Hi, Just stopping by for a walk in the woods with you.Isn't it fun having a grandaghter. Mine lives far away from me, but when we are together I have so much fun. I notice many people are having picture issues. I have been also..for at least a week. It takes me hours to upload a photo. It is for sure...blogger. They may be doing an update or something. I consider it practice for patience. :) I will be back soon for another walk with you. You have truly been capturing winter in all its majesty.
Those cherry somethings look delicious and the hot chocolate and...
Love the bird pics. Feel like I'm there. And no wonder you like the Carolina Wren so much, what a cutie.
I can't have bird feeders because of the cats. So it's really a treat to look out your window.
Love your walk too and fun with Alivia. Sounds (and looks) like a perfect day.
Not having problems on other blogger sites. Uneven scroll started when the snowflakes were added. Something to do with download speed maybe? I'm sure dialup connection must be awful!
Even so what a beautiful post. Almost makes winter look inviting.
Rose
as always, beautiful photos!
hey, can you pass on that recipe for "cherry somethings"
You and Alivia always make me want to play in the kitchen!
I chuckled to see her using the plastic knife. My 4 yr old granddaughter asked me recently if I could get her a "children's" knife! LOL
Oh my....this is Thee Most Beautiful Blog...The chickadees sounded so sweet with the music playing from Playlist. They sound happy no matter what!! And that's a wonderful gift from their Creator.
I'd love that cherry something recipe too!
Love, Debra
What beautiful pictures! I can as always never get enough of them :-)
Hi Wanda,
Enjoyed your blog and I especially loved the relaxing background music. I left it playing while I was reading : ) Alivia seems to enjoy cooking, and I think it is great that you are teaching her at such a young age the "JOY" of it. I am just discovering the joys, as I was not able to try as a child, as my mom was a bit of a perfectionist, and did not have the patience. Then, when married, my husband, loved to cook, so I just let him take over that area.
I never really liked cooking for just me, but lately, I do! I still would like your Cornbread Salad Recipe...as I am sure it is Gluten-Free! ((((LOVE and HUGS))) T
that was so beautiful - and so different to where we are! thanks for your visit to mine :-)
What a lovely, lovely post. Your time looked so relaxed and memory making. Glad you had the gift of such a lovely day Wanda!
