HiddenThings

We've had cheerful blue skies often this week...

giving birth to billowy clouds...
with glowing light reflected from the sunset...
a sunset hidden from my view behind our mass of trees.
.

.
Almost completely hidden from my view...
was this newborn baby fawn...
hiding behind it's mom...
in that same mass of trees...

-photos enlarge-

which leaves me wondering if the fawn might just
have been there too in this photo I took earlier of
a deer resting in the field... there ...but hidden.

This is an Indigo Bunting.....who decided to
finally visit the feeder...
.

whom I have seen on occasion over the years ...but he usually stays pretty well hidden...
he visited with us all day.

On Alivia's last visit...seen here with her puppy
named Biscuit and her ever present little purse...
...she never leaves home without one...
she had $5.50 hidden in it!

she wanted to explore the barn...
and see what we might find hidden away...

we found yet another bird's nest...
with only one egg so far...in an old wire basket.

Warm weather is bringing new life to everything...
including the flowers in the garden...

right along with the weeds...

which has kept me busy removing them...
and I'm sure there's more hiding out...

but after spreading composted cow manure...

and spraying the lilies with a concoction
to keep the deer away...

I'm just going to enjoy the flowers for a while...
like this pink Peony...

seen here with an ant circling an unopened bud.

Just a caterpillar of some sort curled up on a rock.
He would be better off if he hid from the birds.

I found this toad on a rock...
hiding in my small vegetable and herb garden.

Doesn't he look just a little bit grumpy?...

that "look" reminds me of someone...
I wonder who...
...maybe our Birthday Boy Dylan!
Don't you see that same look on this cute face?
.

He does get a glint in his eyes sometimes...

and then tries to hide it...

he's charming...

he's very sweet!...

and he's getting older...turning 11 on the 28th.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DYLAN!

"THERE'S THAT LOOK AGAIN"

My youngest grandson Dylan Michael!
~
Here's how the view from my porch looks today...
please come back and visit.

Looks to me like you live in Paradise! Once again, beautiful . . . just beautiful. And yes, I like your Dylan expressions.

Wow!! Those were amazing close up shots. If I were to do this, the bird would have flown away, and the deer and toad would have run away! What also amazes me is how you get to know the names of all the flowers and all the birds around you! Hats off to you Wanda :D

Beautiful pictures again! There's always more to it, than meets the eye! Take care :)

Dylan is so handsome Wanda, And you got me to think about those weeds. As I have many. So I thought, if not for the weeds, there wouldn't be much left to do in the garden after we plant. So I guess the weeds too can be a blessing albeit an annoying one!

I particularly like the shot of the ant on the bud - the colours are so subtle, the subjects' unusual, and there's a surreal element to it I love. Even the ant was posing I suspect!

Hi Wanda, such a lovely post, Dylan is so handsome and they do grow up so fast, I am so happy that they are close by for you and herhusband to enjoy. Alivia, sweet as ever.
It must take hours each day for you to keep your grounds so beautiful, I so enjoyed the visit from your porch, and then all the views of the nest, deer, frog, and ants.....just everything, you live in a magical land my friend, and are so blessed.....:-) Hugs

My son and daughter-in-law and kids are going to Disney Land and I have it here on your Blog site!!

How funny that the frog and Dylan DO both have the same expression!

There's never any car seen, so I just imagine you have horse drawn carriages over there!

I thank God for one of my blessings being that of your great photography.

blessings,

marcy

Hello Wanda,
Green and growing at your home site! I really enjoyed the serenading birds. The picture of the ant is remarkable - why do you think ants love peonies so much? Guess we can't blame them! One of my other favorite pictures was the wire basket holding the nest and egg - so many textures in that one. Happy birthday to Dylan - a handsome lad for sure. (Remember - even toads turn into princes...)

I don't know where to start! I enjoyed everything! Yep... Dylan and the toad do have the same expressions. LOL! How did you ever connect the 2 together? Was the toad picture stored next to Dylan's? He is definitely a handsome guy Dylan, not the toad). I hope he had a wonderful birthday today.

Warm birthday wishes to Dylan who is more than a wee bit cuter than the toad! Gorgeous! The Indigo Bunting is it? Oh how beautiful! Ahh weeds. Amazing, aren't they? Surviving neglect, water and nitrogen. My son-the-biology-student says plants cannot live without nitrogen - it appears weeds can!

I'm not certain that I've seen an Indigo Bunting "in person"! But I'll sure be on the lookout now! We have more birds singing around our property than I remember from other years....I awake early each morning to the Carolina wren's beautiful warbling! Seems the birds sing ALL day these days!

Your photographs are amazing; your explanations/commentary "just RIGHT"!

Wanda,
As always I enjoy your blog and it always make me smile. I have not been coming for awhile or posting. Too busy planning for my wedding. One week from today. Wow!
I plan to start posting again when I get settled.

Hidden things.. have a certain charm... the element of surprise, variety, or even those subtle hints which bring forth a gush of nostalgia... Surely one of the few novelties that life has to offer!
Been here first time...simply loved it! Keep posting.

Your second picture is my wallpaper for the week.

Your yard sounds exactly like mine! A resident Wood Thrush is especially vocal and perhaps my favorite bird song of all.

Dylan's a sweetie.
