Blackberry Lilies in the middle of Daisies...
here in the middle of summer!

In the middle of last week, I headed down
the drive and then into the field...
where over by the barn...
along the tree line, is an opening in an
old barbed wire fence that borders the field.
From this area, you can see the creek...
far below...just under these old fallen trees.

I prefer to go down an easier way...just to the left.
Once all the way down,
I decide to walk in the middle of the creek.

I gathered just a few interesting rocks...
for a group photo!

This heart-shaped rock...
I need to go back and retrieve...because...
I had a long walk ahead of me...too
far to carry a 5 lb. rock.

It was hard enough to maneuver the middle of ...
the creek bed and obstacles in the way.
Of course there were many more rocks...
I had to pass up and walk on by...
sunlight filtering through...
creating peaceful scenes.
balanced...just at the edge.
in my way...this one I can go under...
~photos enlarge~
possibly from a deer's ribcage I'm thinking...
and I start seeing things...
like a wolf laying in wait...
maybe...
~photos enlarge~
the middle of the creek...
but...
it's blocked!
I come across this little blue flower...
where the hillside slowly rises...
and a good place for me to exit...
the middle of the creek.
and look closely...
you can see Scooby Doo...
in the middle...at the top...
so...yes, I know where I am!
I reach another familiar tree...so I know...
I'm almost home!
in the middle of the creek...

I started looking around the computer room here for the birds!...I heard birds....and then a babbling brook...and then...ah ha...sounds with Wanda's blog.
Verrry relaxing....and a beautiful blog.
Smiles,
Jackie
Wanda,
I just love to coming to your blog. It is always such an adventure and such beautiful surroundings. I know I always say that ever time I come, but I can't help myself, I just have to say it over and over again. I can only imagine what you see in person. Lucky you! The sound of the creek and the birds, so peaceful. I really do think those deer do like you and where waiting for you to return.
That video was so cute and so short that I watched three times right away. Did they run after that? They look as if they are waiting for you to come up and sing to them (tell the truth, Wanda, you really DO sing to the animals like Snow white did, don't you?)
I would absolutely love walking through those woods!! I used to walk through the woods all the time when we lived in southern Georgia, sort of just breathing them in. Are all of those woods yours?
Thank you for another lovely walk...bet that creek is pretty with water flowing in it too.
blessings and hugs,
marcy
That was another lovely walk, just loved seeing the fawns, never see them where I come from. Loved the rocks too, but for God sake don't be lifting too many heavy ones.
Wanda, that was a fun hike! It had a scary part too... why with that possible wolf! My heart would be pounding :o)
The video clip of the deer and all the birds singing...loved it!
All the best, Maria
Hi Wanda-
I SO enjoyed walking with you today, although two hours is a long walk for me. I appreciate the many stops to look and savor the sights and sounds and smells and to imagine..... how that bone got there. Your nature-land is so full of offerings - thank you for sharing these with me.
Love to you'
Gail
peace.....
A two hour walk! You must have been hungry when you arrived home. It was nice that your weather cooperated this time Wanda!
Wanda, I was nervous!!
I've felt a little like that other times too on your walks, but this was the first time I ever heard you voice any kind of apprehension!
I'm always like that, we used to have a cabin in the woods and I'd start out hiking fine, but then I'd start letting my imagination run away with me and all of a sudden a nice nature walk became not so nice!
So now I hike vicariously through you! And it's much nicer to have company!
In spite of being a 'fraidy cat' I enjoyed myself immensely! And I got so excited when you found the heart rock!
Really enjoyed the video and really love the first picture!
Okay, I'm on my way for a second walk, this time I'll keep my head though!
It's a beautiful landscape, Wanda. Your videos are so fun to watch.
So. Do you say crEEk or crIck? :)
Loved it all - but such a huge smile with the lugging home of the 5 pound rock. Sometimes nature makes us do amazing things. The three fawns are another huge smile. And then there's the Jacob's ladder.... okay, I'll stop. It's a comment not a novel.
Hello Wanda,
I wanted you to carry that huge moss and lichen covered boulder home! My favorite. I saw a beaver where you saw a wolf - and in the next photo, a beaver dam! Lovely walk, Wanda - down the middle.
Great walk. Thanks for taking us along. Love those little deer.
Hello Wanda
well that is good enough evidence for me that your ankle healed perfectly...I can't wait until I can be cavorting down the stream beds again and walking for 2 hours.
thanks for the invigorating walk down the stream today...
Happy days
Ahhh, beautiful. All of it. Even the five-pound rock. The whole piece sounds like a metaphor for Life.
Back to say I just watched the little video. Look at those little babies stamping their hooves to scare you off! Mama must have had triplets instead of the usual twins.
I really enjoyed this. So natural a feel it all is.
I'm here for another walk, to take in the peaceful sights and sounds. A nice way to start the day!
Also, I love how the lilies in the top picture look even before they bloom, all twisted so prettily. Nature really is amazing!
It's funny how the nature sounds go along with the walk, I almost swatted a bee away!
PS ~ I hate how Bernie's blog has moved down to the bottom of our blog lists! My is set up like yours too, last one to post is up top. It will be nice to have her back up top again!
I should just set everything up alphabetical, then I'd know exactly where to spot everyone no matter how often they post (blogger is bad at catch-up anyway)!
I'm trying to think of the last time I may have spent 2 hours alone anywhere outside of my house! I know I've never taken a two hour walk in the woods! I really hand it to you, Wanda...you are brave! Your pictures are always breathtaking. That large bone was scary, but I can't imagine being on a walk and not knowing for sure where I was. Its so awesome that you have these little landmarks to reassure you! I enjoyed this so much!
I so enjoy my walks with you, and this time, I had to watch my step, b ecause I could not get enough, look around , look up, watch out, hear the birds and the sounds of the woods, and then the three darlin' deer.Thank you Wanda, this one was special. It always is.
Oh, I do wish that we lived closer. I would so enjoy tagging along on your hikes. I love the triplets! We could sometimes go for bike rides and creek hunts as well. Your blog is definitely one of my favorites! Love it!
Hi Wanda,
I loved the tranquility of your post. It is a big change from the hustle and bustle of the big city and all the people that I have been surrounded by lately. Got to get back to basics here, and your post this morning really helped...think I will just sit and listen awhile...hoping I can relax! I loved my walk with you, the sights and sounds were a sight for sore eyes, and music to my ears. ((((HUGS)))) my friend.
What great pics and I am so jealous...you got to see three deer at one go :) It looks like you had a great relaxing walk.
Wanda....if you would like to e-mail me, Marcy has my address. I read your comment on my blog, and I am also moved...
What a wonderful thing for you to have done: taking us on this beautiful journey with you. It would make a perfect chapbook!
And the heart-shaped rock makes me remember: we always return for the things and the people we love.
Karen
I enjoyed your blog very much. I almost felt as though I was walking along in the woods with you, especially with the birdsong in the background. Love the photo of the three fawns!
