Busy

I can remember the Bee Balm in full bloom...

This is all that's left...of that early July blossom.
The Bee Balm may be gone...
~

but the bees are on the Thistle....

~

I originally called this Teasel...but it's Thistle...
Teasel is a little different...Thanks to Delwyn's
comment, I realized my mistake...
if you look closely or enlarge the next photo...
you may also see what's made the
silky maze of webs...
~

but it doesn't faze the busy bees.

Maybe they know the end of summer is near...

and that these bright green Maple leaves might...

soon turn like these Trumpet Vine leaves here!

Another sign that summer is winding down...
is here at the swing under the Walnut tree...
other than the fact that Alivia is sitting still.

It's the walnuts...they are ready to fall.

Soon it will be fall.....the 4 leaf clovers...
already show signs of it in their leaves.

Everything grows, changes, and ages.

~
This is a small portrait album...it's folded
pages open to show my 9 grandchildren...
all at a younger age...and in order of birth.

~photos enlarge~

Dustin and Amanda were the first two...
born 2 years apart...About 2 years later along
came Nathan...one year later Grant and Katie.
All five of them now drive cars!!!
~

Nick came next, he is now 15...next it was Andrew,
who just turned 13...then Dylan who is now 11...
and of course Alivia who is 6.
~

They all live within walking distance...
so I see them often...but it's the younger
ones I see the most!
The others are busy with jobs...
or getting ready to go back to college...
but...soon they all will be back in school.

But meanwhile...my living room sometimes
looks like this lately...

Grandsons brought it up from downstairs,
just for these last weeks of summer vacation.
Brothers Andrew and Dylan walk over often
to visit or stay all night.

Usually it also involves a snack.....

before they head off for home through the woods.

Alivia lives the closest...and if she's not busy
outside running around...

she might be inside playing a serious game of
scrabble....with relaxed rules...

...working a book of mazes...

or being creative in the kitchen....

On this day Katie came with her brothers...

So, you can find us often just sitting and talking...

but sometimes we end up climbing hills...

...and sometimes...with Alivia leading the way.

Although this last week I have been busy with
my grandchildren...I still found the time....
to fix dessert...like Coconut Creme Pie!

But...I wasn't very good at posting on my blog.
Alivia visits my blog with glee
maybe she should do it for me!

Haven't posted since last week...
It's all their fault...so to speak!
The glasses are mine and very weak...
She sneaks them on...I think it's sweet.
We've done a lot all this week...
I'll make posts of our feats!

Love the song, "Summer Time"...and the photos of the children...all having fun.
That pie looks so good....second pie I've seen posted today...uhmmm.
If I was on a diet, I'd go off it...but I'm not...so, I'm safe!
Lovely blog....always a pleasure to be here....always.
Smiles,
Jackie

It's always so nice to visit your blog and to see the beautiful woods you live next too. It seems fall is in the air in your area. Meanwhile we're still struggling with summer but, somehow, even with all the heat and humidity, I am awlays a bit sad that it is over.

Hi Wanda

Well you have enjoyed the children, fancy having nine grandchildren...my children have not started families yet...I will be ancient before am surrounded by a brood...

Did you make the lovely portrait album...I am thinking now of all the great things I can make when that time arrives...

your pics are great - I have never heard of teasel - is it like a thistle...

I feel a bit sad for you that you are soon leaving summer because it has seemed so short...but I have your autumn to look forward to...

Happy days

Beautiful post, Wanda, I loved every picture, and I loved you thinking back on your grandchildren when they were younger, and how you enjoy them whatever stage they are in!
I think it's great to be surrounded by them and to be so involved in their lives.
I guess it's going to be awfully quiet for you once school starts!

I've been so busy too being away from the computer, I'll do one big long post over the weekend maybe if I have time. I don't think we have any plans for Sunday so maybe I'll spend the afternoon or evening doing that.

I have both Mia and Jayden today, so I want to get a few things done before Mia arrives.
Have a great day!
I really enjoyed today's post a lot!
And I noticed Alivia wearing your glasses at your computer right away!
Love, Eileen

Wonderful post and your pictures always bring a sense of calm and peace. The picture of Alivia in the swing was particularily sweet. She was in her 6 year old world.

Your coconut pie looks so yummy, so I am hoping too that you will share that with us.

I love being able to enlarge your photos...it's like getting to treasure what you photograph twice!

You brought a BIG smile to my face when you finished off with your poetry...great job!

It's so great that you have chairs everywhere in your yard to sit and watch wildlife and flowers...think they are just as happy having Snow White to watch them!

That theasel is so pretty...have you ever cut it and brought it inside?

Also is that other flower what they use to extract bee balm? Do you do anything like that?

blessings and hugs,

marcy

Hello Wanda, Thank goodness you posted - I was beginning to have "Wanda Withdrawal!" Just when I hoped maybe there was a slice of that chocolate cake left, I realized that it couldn't have survived with all those Grandsons around the house! My husband loves coconut pie - maybe I should consider surprising him. However, we're the only ones eating it here, so that's not good. My favorite photo is the web and hiding spider on the Teasel. Glad you're well, enjoying the end of summer, and walking/talking with Grandchildren. Smiles to you...

I saw it on Bernie and now Diana's blog. Wanda are you sure about the arthritis in your thumbs? Did you have a doctor look at it? I feel so helpless when I hear of any of you here ill or suffering. But I will definitely pray that it does not give you a whole lot of discomfort! Loads of love Wanda :)

Wonderful post! You are a blessed grandma to have the children so close--and they are blessed to have such a good grandma! That's about as good as it gets. I chuckled that Alivia visits your blog. My grandkids also visit my blog--I need to be careful not to embarrass them. They love seeing photos of themselves and occasionally ask me to take their picture and post in on my blog. :-)One time one of the older ones said, "I'd be really proud if you put pictures of this on your blog."

Wanda, I LOVE your sweet album of grandchildren! I need to do something like that. I am so sad that my sweet grandchildren are so far away. I do have 2 close by but NOT walking distance! You are so blessed. I love Alivia visiting your blog and seeing herself, that is so sweet. She is adorable, I bet you enjoy every second you have with her! (sigh)

Where HAS the summer gone? All was quiet up on the lake Sunday through this morinng! Locusts began their songs mid-afternoon...Nights were chilly.

Things DO grow, change, age....

How quickly your Alivia will be Katie's age and your chats and her visits will reflect that growth, change and aging.....

You are SO lucky to have all of your grandkids living so close. Ours live far away, we only get to see them about 4 times a year.

Sounds like a great time with the grandkids. I'd love to go hiking but I'm too scared of spiders getting on me. Okay I'm a wimp!!

That pie looks creamy and delicious!!! Makes me want some.

Very nice and "relaxing" post, as always Wanda! How blessed you are to have all your grandchildren so nearby. Your life seems so serene compared to mine right now...I'm feeling very "sandwiched" lately. I was soothing to me to look at your pictures. I always get a bit melancholy at the end of summer. It just goes so fast. But for everything there is a season...Your coconut pie looks very yummy. I am a pie baker myself but I try not to do it too often! I absolutely LOVE the picture of Alivia looking at your blog with your glasses on. What a treasure! I love the way YOU love life so much. You are an inspiration! Have a great day!

Oh Wanda, your grandchildren are so darling. All of them. And to think you live walking distant to all of them...
We live 15 min. to four of ours, and 45 min. for the other five, and the 2 great grandsons. But for 27 years we lived miles away.. so I'm blessed in our retirement to be so much closer.
Love your Blog Wanda, you are a delightful person...

I'll take a slice of that Coconut cream pie...Since I just made coffee.
