Thanksgiving morning
found the table ready, but empty...
by early afternoon the counter was full with
turkey, ham, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie,
cheesecake, apple pie, cherry pie, and
carrot cake.
~

Granddaughter Katie smiled as she created
the smiley face on the pumpkin cheesecake.
without any mishaps, all went extremely well...
~
and 18 family members gathered...
thankful for the food and that all of us were well. My first blog post in 2008 was a similar photo!
Dessert was finally served...
some took only their favorite...
like Andrew and his apple pie...
while others took a little of each...
I think I took some of five!
My son Rick helped clean the kitchen...and
the next morning the counter looked empty...but
I had plenty of leftovers for another day.
I also had this little gift from Alivia...
a song she hoped I would like...
She came back down that next afternoon...
and worked on 2 puzzles blogging friend Marcy had sent her.
They weren't too hard to do!
last Christmas, which I had photographed
because they are very hard to do!
where the leaf pile quickly drew her attention.
She played there for a short time and then...
it was back in for some dessert!
Then we finished our visit with her writing
a letter to Santa. Bif the Elf gave her a password
to use in 2 days time to read Santa's reply.
The rest of the weekend I spent relaxing...
feet up and watching cars with red bows on TV.
The Poinsettia in it's red dress was a gift
from someone very special!

Someone that looked pretty in her red dress
for Christmas...about 20 years ago...
at the Railroad Days Festival!

Someone who wrote this poem about 10 years ago...
Grandma was cooking,
Grandpa was looking,
family stopped by,
just to say hi!
friends here and there,
cousins who care,
moms run around,
kids are abound,
parents like to talk,
kids like to walk,
well, actually they run
and like to have fun.
Anyone can have a part,
if they care
and have a heart,
in a family, they can be,
a family just...
like you and me!

Both Alivia and Amanda are absolutely beautiful girls. I love the poem Amanda wrote, as I dabble in writing poetry. Your home looks lovely!
What a nice day you had! Thanks for sharing it. Donna
Hello Wanda,
What a wonderful post about Love and Family and Grandchildren - and good things to eat (especially carrot cake which is my favorite!). Alivia's song to you is priceless - I'm sure you told her you love her, too. Amanda was a precious child and now a lovely young woman. Happy Birthday to her! And now, I must go have some leftovers - you have made me hungry again (too bad, no desserts here!).
Stay well and happy, my Friend.
Ah lovely Wanda. The family photos, the beautiful grandchildren and their wonderful loving poems!
I will tell you truthfully Wanda, I am sure that I would have had a piece of each dessert, small ones of coarse! I must admit that I was surprised to see Alivia writing a letter to Santa on the computer! But I suppose times have changed and even Santa has moved forward with technology!
The feast looked marvelous and I'm sure it made for another memorable
Thanksgiving!
Love Di
Somehow I failed to take pictures of our table & the food-laden island. It actually looked similar to yours! And we had 16 people - so even the numbers were similar! We didn't do any puzzles but played several group games following clean-up.
It was good to share these "moments of yours" with you. God has certainly blessed your family with healthy & beautiful grandchildren!
HI WANDA-
First, Alivia and Amanda are so very beautiful. :-)
I truly loved your Thanksgiving table and all the delicious foods and that 18 of you all ate well together - such a beautiful tribute to home and family and gratitude.
Your nature-land looks as beautiful as ever.
I really love your world and I am so honored to be able to share in it albeit from here.
Love to you and yours
Gail
Peace,
Lovely, warm family time and family appreciation - as ever when we come here.
Your Thanksgiving feast looked delicious! And that poem by Alivia speaks volumes.
Happy Birthday to your beautiful Amanda.
Breathe it all in - this is what it is all about. Thanks for sharing this love and family you have created and continue to nurture.

Your Thanksgiving table was a feast for the eyes...and I'm sure was a feast for those who shared in it. Thank goodness for those who helped you clean the kitchen too! I love the photos...all of them. Happy birthday to Amanda Shayne...she was beautiful as a little girl....and is still beautiful today. I'm so proud of her boyfriend, Bronson. I don't know him...but I am proud of him....and I thank him for his service to us all. Blessings to your family.
PS I was forced to come back just before my bedtime to feast my eyes on those desserts one last time...

What love and thanks are in this post. Shed a tear. Hapy birthday to your grand daughter. 21 is very special and she is so filled with the beauty of life. I see you survived making every pie ever invented! Hapy days after Thanksgiving. It's wonderful to be able to give thanks.
WHat beautiful grandchildren you have Wanda. And your Thanksgiving desserts look simply scrumptious.
The food looks delicious and the table very welcoming, Wanda. Thanksgiving at your place surely was a treat.
Happy Birthday Amanda Shayne!!
If that food was as tasty as it was beautiful, I wonder that there was any left at all!
Happy birthday to Amanda Shayne. She is lovely.
Time for me to go get another cup of my Eight O'Clock! :-P
Happy Birthday Amanda
Such lovely grandchildren you have Wanda and I loved Amanda's poem but also the song Alivia wrote. Those things really warm a heart on a cold day.
That was some groaning board you put forth. I gained a pound just looking.
Love it all but especially Alivia's note, pile of leaves and watching your beautiful granddaughter, Amanda grow up through the photos. Those photos are stunning! You are blessed indeed. Happy Thanksgiving all year.
Beautiful granddaughter.
I would have had to sample all those desserts as well. The leaf pile looks like much fun.
Lovely. You have many things to be thankful for.
What a beautiful grand daughter you have.
Thank you for the lovely peak at your thanksgiving.
What a lovely post Wanda. Your grand daughter is beautiful. Alivia will look just like her when she gets older! The desserts looked to yummy too! The only think bad about going somewhere for Thanksgiving...NO LEFTOVERS! It looks like I might be cooking a turkey this weekend just so we can have some leftovers! But...I loved the part that I didn't have to do ONE THING too! Just play with the "little rascals" ! smiles across the miles...linda
Wanda you have such a lovely way of weaving your days into such a beautiful story.
Your Thanksgiving spread of food has much to be thankful for...
...as all the dear members of your family. I enjoyed the photos of Amanda ~ she's beautiful as is Alivia!
Enjoy your leftovers (we still have our daughter, Amanda's breads and some pumpkin pie) My sister hosted, so we just have desserts :)
Blessings Always,
Maria
