.....No Spring Flowers...But...

No spring flowers...but this
beautiful sunrise started my day!

The pale moon
even hung around
to see it...
they both...
shared the same sky.
.

Me...
I hated to go in...
so decided to have...
this treat outside.

and dunking was...
necessary!

Afterwards...
I still...
hated to go in.
But...
spring flowers are no where...
to be found.
Only
a little green moss...
and patches of snow.

So...
it's down to the creek
to watch the water flow.

While walking the creek...
I found this heart...
I made it glisten with water.
Look closely at the tip...
underwater...
another small heart!

The next day...
company came...
sometimes I goof...
I call her...Alivia Shayne,
but that's NOT
her middle name.
It's Alivia Ruth!
You see Shayne...
and big sister Amanda...
well...
it's her...middle name.

I had promised Alivia...
a walk in the woods.
It was the treasure tree
she wanted to see.

It was as empty...as could be...
Maybe "next time"
there will be something to see!

Alivia saw the creek in the distance...
I convinced her...that we should
search the woods before we go...
that maybe...
we could find things of interest.

You never know!

Luckily...
She found this rock

It's not a flower...
but...it is new spring moss!

.

Farther along...
we found an ancient skeleton..
maybe a cross between
an anaconda and a dinosaur!
Maybe!

(photos enlarge)

We also discovered an odd tree!
A very hollow Beech Tree!

Alivia didn't crawl through...
but she could have!
Maybe another time!

As you see this tree was
was very close to the creek
She did explore the backside...

which looked like this!

Then it was down to the creek!
Immediately...
the hands went into the water...

...and the mud!

Eventually the feet went there too!

We do NOT stay clean or dry...
when near the creek!
We don't even try!

The path home is just around the bend...

...and up over this hill is home.
This is the large tree that fell
last fall!

Closer to home...
she runs off and leaves me...
over behind the garden area.

Remember that colorful
Sunrise
that started my morning...
...the day before?
The one
with pink, purple and yellow hues...

The one that made me
think
blackberries and peaches...

...mixed together in a pan...

...and baked till brown and crisp!

Though craving it badly...
I had to wait...for it to cool
and settle for...
vegetarian chili for lunch.

But !
I did enjoy the Crisp later.
~
I also...
enjoyed this lovely flower...

though...no spring flowers yet!

It is a gift from a friend!

I told HER... I would share it with YOU!

Thanks to EVERYONE...
that visits...Moments of Mine!
♥.....Wanda

What a peaceful way to greet the morning...I notice Alivia has no jacket on for her walk..it will soon be no jacket weather for me. I must train my eyes to look for the hearts that are abundant in nature. I bet I have past them buy many times. I was thrilled to find my snow heart. The one tree that Alivia is standing buy looks like it could be prehistoric bird feet. :) Do you ever place tiny treasures in the teasure tree? I may find a treasure tree for my grands when they visit. Your crisp looks yummy. I have never had peaches and blackberries. I must give it a try. I have enjoyed my walk today and look forward to your woods when the flowers start to bloom. Blessings! Dee

From beginning to end, this post was full of wonderful food.... faces.... and forms(those trees with tunnels in them and heart-shaped stones).

I'm always fascinated by skies that hold both sun and moon at the same time. You captured that scene so well.

My goodness. I love to read your posts. Love the music. Love the walks in the woods, getting to listen to the clear mountain stream. Something about running water that eases the mind. Cute little granddaughters playing and enjoying the woods with her Gramma.
Memories she will have forever. Flowers from friends are Great! Flowers to look forward to are even greater! Blackberry with peach cobbler sounds wonderful. Love it for breakfast with cold milk. Yum. Thanks for letting us be with you this morning....debbie

It's funny , I just commented the other day to Eileen that Jayden had changed over the winter and now I see the growth spurt in Alivia too! I find it very nice to know that we have followed each other long enough to notice! I love your creek Wanda,it always reminds me of one that I used to explore with my cousin when we were young girls, Alivia's age! I don't think it will be much longer before we see more green in your pictures. Your lunch looked delicious by the way, wish I were there! Thanks for the visit.

Love, love those mornings with the sun and the moon in the sky. We have had two days of spring weather - 60's! In MN! But no spring flowers. I would settle for moss on a rock. Love the tree opening - something out of THE HOBBIT. So glad you are sensible and know creeks are for getting wet. And I am gearing up for my fruit crisp...

Heart touching heart -- what it always feels like to pass a few moments with you Wanda.

I didn't think blackberries and peaches when I saw your beautiful sunrise - but it certainly fit when you pointed out. A sunrise crisp!

Love the new look of your blog Wanda, it is lovely.

I think I have used every adjective and adverb to describe your post and still I am amazed at the joy, love, warmth and relaxation I feel every time I visit.

The skies, the woods, the walk with my favorite little girl, Alivia......all beautiful.

The crisp looked delicious but I couldn't make out what you were dipping in your morning coffee. What was that, it looked like it was covered in chocolate so I know it must be good.

Big Hugs to Miss Alivia...:-) Hugs

Loved the heart you found in the creek!

I've been here for a while now just taking in all the beauty of this post.
Thank you, Wanda.

Your food makes me hungry. It's eight o' clock in the morning and I'm sipping my morning coffee, enjoying the walk together with you There are so many treasures to be found in your backyard, I loved the hollow beech tree, and it must be wonderful to dip your hands in that clear water of the creek! May your whole week be as colorful as the sunrise you saw, Wanda!

I'm so glad I stopped over here first! Your blog always puts me in a peaceful state of mind to start my day! The pictures are al beautiful Wanda...I think I would get lost on your property...Alivia has grown so much this past year since I first "met" her. Love the video of the rippling creek...Your fruit crisp looks so good! And I'm laughing that Bernie doesn't know a biscotti when she sees one. Italian that I am, I'm addicted to those things. This music is wonderful...have a beautiful day and I hope you find some flowers soon.

Cat said...

Below all those dry leaves lie lots of tiny seeds waiting for the perfect sunny breeze to lift away their winter blanket and invite them to see the sky. Soon, the flowers will be with you..everywhere..their smiling faces will greet you everywhere you go, even some through the snow.

Enjoy your crumble/crisp..I was nearly licking my computer screen it looks so good!!

Come over some day and discover our forest...you just might find another hidden heart or two for your collection!!

Have a nice day...Cat (in the Czech Republic)

Good morning Wanda!
Thank you for sharing your moments with us... I enjoyed your sunrise {my sky is still a deep shade of dark blue at 6:40am} so it was lovely to see "an early sunrise."

Our "walks" through your woods are wonderful to share. It's fun when we get to revisit God's landmarks!

I smiled when you progressed from the colors of the sunrise to your blackberry and peach cobbler...and it DOES look amazingly delicious!
Have a sweet awakening to springtime life, Wanda ...

Ahhhh, a Wanda fix is a marvelous way to start a day. You have such a wonderful eye. Love seeing Alivia exercising her curosity. It makes me realize, the child in me is still alive and that we need to quit seeing only the big picture but should be enjoying the beautiful and interesting details.
Thank you.

Another nice walk with the two of you! Diana is right, Alivia has grown and is maturing. Such a beautiful girl!
And warm enough for short sleeves and a walk in the creek! My goodness! It's still cold here today, but I'm not going to complain after all the rain we had, today is sunny and bright! Jayden still needed his winter jacket going out this morning though. Tomorrow it's supposed to get very warm here and that makes me very happy!
Your delicious meal and baked goods are making me head to the kitchen (not to bake, to EAT!). You always have the nicest scenes and the most appetizing foods!

I love all the hearts you always find along the way, it's like God's Hand reaching right down to you. Lovely.
Beautiful gift your friend gave you! Enjoy!
Love to you,
Eileen

Hello Wanda, I really liked the moss on rock photo - a whole little ecosystem to enjoy. Alivia is growing taller as is my Amanda. Your sunrises are so lovely, Wanda - i miss the wonderful color in the sky here in the city. It's nice that I can sit, pretend to enjoy a latte and biscotti with you, and have a visit. Is that a Birthday orchid? I was thinking March is your month, but can't remember for sure. At any rate, I wish you smiles.

What a lovely day you had. Alivia is so fortunate to have a playground provided by Nature, as I once had. I loved nothing better than doing exactly what she is doing, and still recall it fondly.
And the fruit crisp, I'll bet it was even more delicious than it looked!

Wanda, what a wonderful stroll with Alivia! She is such a character! I bet the water was freezing cold, but children somehow do not have thermostats in their little bodies until they hit teen age years!
