Blogger has turned my Buckeye Butterfly sideways...
so tilt your head...for a better view!
I spied him and his spots...
of the evening sun lighting the tree tops.
and now the large trees to the right.....
.....their leaves are becoming.....
a deep cherry bright!
~
Some have fallen like feathers.....waiting to be found.....
just like in the drive....
where crushed hickory nuts...that fell to the ground...
were found by a fox...seen here...chowing down!
Gathered some nuts...the ones in close sight...
a different Buckeye, a walnut, hickory nuts too...
one loose and another.....still wrapped up tight...
Acorns from oaks...Red, Pin and White!
~ ~ ~
My son, Steve.....found this strange looking rock...
down at the creek...between our houses.
Steve thinks it looks similar to this.....
Fossilized Oviraptor Dinosaur Egg.
(Googled Photo) What do you think?
Steve has a knack.....to find what's been lost!
At about 8 (he's now 40).....he found my dad's keys....
several years.....after having been dropped.
to the creek.....with a smile.
He brushed against Stinging Nettle...
He brushed against Stinging Nettle...
which stings MORE.....than awhile.
on this rock he holds....immediately...
~~~
...a Cat's Face!....Did you see?
He came to metal detect and look for fossils...
but a few hearts he found and gave to me.
He came to metal detect and look for fossils...
but a few hearts he found and gave to me.
This one was large and growing moss!
He spied it quickly...even before me!
These pictures are fantastic. You are after my heart, I am a devoted rock hound.
I really enjoyed this posting, Wanda. You live in such a beautiful place!
That strange rock — with the apparent cut marks, could it have been used by Native Americans as some kind of tool?
Thanks again.
Hi Wanda
I have learned something this morning about fawns and spots...
It would seem as if son Steve is a man after your own heart!
happy days
I can see the change in seasons very clearly in many of your photos. They're gorgeous, and I love your story of discovering things. Steve has a knack for it!
Gorgeous photos and a wonderful, poetic roaming through your awesome countryside. Thanks for letting me tag along.
Very beautiful, seems so breathtaking. You always have the best pictures.
An "Oh So Wonderful" post, Wanda - I'm always happy to visit and see your discoveries. I love the small heart with the ferny green pattern and that Moon! (Did you use a tripod?) Amanda and Pop Pop opened a walnut while I was in Martha's Vineyard - he said it wasn't easy! Hope Steve doesn't waste too much time looking for the fawns' spots - tell him to concentrate on the dinosaur eggs instead! Always good to have a Family member who can find things! Enjoy fall on your lovely property.
I love rocks Wanda so I particularly enjoyed this post. It must be a dinosaur egg! How cool would that be?
Things are starting to change quickly around your house. The Buckeye Butterfly was beautiful.
Love Di ♥
Thanks to all of you for your nice comments...I didn't use a tripod, Barb and George, the black marks are embedded in the rock, not cut into it.
Your posts always make me feel so comfortable, at home, and peaceful Wanda. I think all the animals that visit you must feel the same.
What happened to the music????? Is it still there? I checked my sound and it's on...I want it back. I loved the music. Again, truly a wonderful post. I just can't say enough about it. I love it. I'm always sorry when it ends. And yes, I think it's an egg. Has to be! lol...debbie
Awesome pictures....
Blessings,
andrea
delightful as usual Wanda, I love that butterfly and yes those fawns have grown a lot. What a lovely walk you and your son had.
That butterfly is so beautiful!
I think the oblong stone looks like a dinosaur egg. How can you verify that?
Really, Wanda, another one of your fantastic walks. I also like to gather stones, and I must say you've got some special stones, where you live. It seems there are numbers of fossils there.
All the photos are so great. Thank you for sharing.
Have a nice week-end, Wanda.
Best wishes
Grethe
The egg-rock fascinates me. Do you think that's the eye right in position at the right-hand end?
I am voting for it being a Fossilized Oviraptor Dinosaur Egg. How cool would that be? Maybe it could be x-rayed?
You son has taken his Mother's lessons well and knows how to enjoy nature.
A lovely peaceful walk with Wanda and son. Such a treat.
HI WANDA-
I SO enjoyed our walk about your nature-land today. The views are spectacular and the discoveries all treasures. I 'collect' rocks from all over so I truly appreciate the one's you find and share.
Love to you
Gail
peace and hope.....
Hello Wanda!
Of course you know the Moon is my favorite photo in this post. Another great and relaxing visit..thank you.
Janet xox
Maybe you should have that "dinosaur egg" x-rayed!
We've enjoyed the moon this week, too - both at night and in the early morning hours...
MY favorite picture this time was the one with the various nuts! You have a great variety! On our little property, we only have walnuts! And MANY of them this year.
Of course, the heart-shaped rocks ALWAYS steal MY heart.
There's a story in that rock, Wanda - to be sure. Maybe Steve will find it. I could use Steve on a daily basis... lost and found is my life. The moon photo - oh that autumn moon.
That rock is amazing; perhaps it is a fossilized dinosaur dropping!! It looks as though it has pieces of plants in it.
Love the moon shot too; my son, Dane, took a similar shot in black and white and framed it for us.
Wanda,
Amazing photos as always. The rocks are cool, but best of all is the butterfly.
Kay
Just gorgeous photos!! LOVE especially the butterfly, fox and deer pics!! Amazing!!
You always have the best walks in the world, I love them, the butterfly is beautiful, and well the dear are amazing, so remind me of the farm I grew up on. The rocks well I love them, the bird and the dinosour one. great. I am sitting here listening to the music, thinking what a beautiful place you allow us to visit. thank you. many hugs.
Hugs,
Lois
Lovely walk with your son and beautiful photos.
What an amazing post. You put so much work into it. Love the finds and the description of your searches. Beautiful sky pictures as well.
Such a lovely walk ~
The rocks are amazing... the soft moss growing on them makes them look even more special. The cat's face is awesome! What a find!
Your father's keys ~ another amazing find!
The leaves are turning here as well ~ the maple tree next door is fiery red on top with green still holding on to the rest of the leaves.
Autumn is definitely in the air ~
Have a wonderful week, Wanda!
Thank you for sharing such sweet treasures with us ♥
~Maria
That dinosaur egg is amazing! So many heart shapes you find, that's probably the Universe's way to say I love you!
Hi Wanda!
I love your buckeye butterfly & what a wonderful moon shot. I always find the moon difficult to photograph.
What a variety of nuts... wonderful colors & textures.
Such fun finds at your place, Wanda.
Have a great week!
:)
Nuts and fossils, keys and hearts, oh my!!
I must start opening my eyes when I'm on my walks as I never seem to find anything quite so interesting!
The deer must enjoy the fallen nuts, what a treat!
xx
What interesting things you find in the woods. That rock sure looks like a dinosaur egg!
It really does look like a dinosaur egg Wanda. Another fascinating post my friend. I was out on Friday and saw a beautiful crystal heart and immediately thought of you and your love of hearts.
Your Fall is so pretty, we are a bit further into Fall my friend, but I so love this time of year.
Big hugs to Alivia......:-)luv ya
Such awesome photos as always Wanda! What kind of camera do you use? I do think Steve should get the "dinosaur egg" checked out! Who knows?? We also enjoyed the harvest moon last week. Always a special sight! My mom says the acorns and other nuts are extra large this year, which predicts a long, hard winter. Any knowledge of that on your end?
A lovely post as always, the photograph of the moon is beautiful. There's always so much to see in the natural world for those who look.
I love this post. You are blessed to have so much of nature all around you.
You and Steve both seem to be great rock sleuths.
Also love the moon picture.
(I like your blog background). Donna
Thank you dear one for welcoming us to come along. My hectic life needs reflection time and opportunities to enjoy God's creation. I too, love your music and I've started to play it while I work at my desk at the pregnancy center!
Blessings always.
Ahhhh...now I feel better that I have had my walk with Wanda fix. :) The nuts and the butterfly caught my eye on this walk. I think it is nice your son has the gift of seeing things in the woods like you.
All of your shots are wonderful!! Loved these.
I think it looks A LOT like a Dinosaur Egg!
I love the picture of the keys and old coin and the story you told to go along with it. AND the pictures of all the heart rocks.
Your pictures. . .breathtaking, as always.
Another great visit with you Wanda :o) I love the heart rock w/ the moss on it,and the awesome collection of nuts! WE have stinging nettle here too but I have yet to accidentally touch it. Knock on wood! ;o) Have a great week and weekend!
I always feel like I've taken a small sabbatical after coming here. Beautiful pictures and musings.
Hello Wanda! What a great post! before I even scrolled down I thought, oh my goodness that is a dinosaur egg! We took the 3 rascals to a dinosaur museum last weekend and I think you have a keeper there! Wouldn't it be amazing if it were! Do you know someone with an x-ray machine? lol. I love your walk today, as always...you have the touch of calming a spirit! love, hugs and smiles!
Where do I begin??? So much to love about this post!!! I love the rocks you found!!! How absolutely fascinating!!! And that photo of the moon is incredible!!!! You take such extraordinary photos, dear Wanda!! WOW! WOW! And of course, I love your hearts!!!! Hope you have a fantastic Friday!!! Love you! Janine XO
Thank you, Wanda, for visiting my blog. I'm glad to know you like my blog. As an ESl learner, my purpose of blogging is expressing myself well in English as well as sharing things I love with the readers.
You're an amazing, prolific photographer, and your talking is fun to hear. Thank you for expanding my world. See you!
Sending lots of shiny Fall rays your way for a lovely merry happy weekend, Wanda xxx
Wanda, what lovely pictures. When I lived in Ohio I was friends with a girl who was a geologist. She used to take the kids and I out on fossil digs and it was just amazing. We would go into mine tailings and along creeks and deep into woods and she would find all kinds of treasures.
This post brought back all these wonderful memories. You really made me smile.
And you really captured Ohio in fall to me.
Thank you for this lovely gift. Your son sounds like my daughter. I remember having 10 people walking in a group and she would lean down and pluck an arrowhead off the ground that everyone else had walked by. It's neat how their eyes are tuned to a different frequency.
You are lovely.
Thank you.
Hi! Happy weekend Wanda! :)
oh my gosh...these are the best photos ever...all those stones...and nuts...and deer and the fox chowing down..I love love love nature. It's where I feel free. YOu gave me a gift scrowling through this.
I love your blog and will be back to visit soon. I especially love the deer and trees! I am one of your newest followers,
Jane
...beautiful, Wanda. As always, you have a special talent for leading us through a story. I always enjoy your posts, and never know what you'll show us. I think that is a trilobite...and wouldn't it be cool if it was a fossilized egg! You son sounds a lot like Matty...
Hello, Wanda.
I am so pleased to see your lovely photos. I like to see beautiful photos very much!
Also,I find many interests I share with you in your photos.
They are so precious things that make our lives pleasant.
Thank you very much.
Your new friend, Redrose.
nice blog, .. please visit my blog too..
I don't know if I've ever told you this, but.. sometimes I open your page and leave it open just to listen to your music. It's beautiful.
I do love the deer. I saw a speck of blue in one of photos and wondered what it was and clicked to open it to the larger size. The rocks are just great. My favorite is the moss covered one.
Joey
Just here to wave "hello," and to send my love and prayers for you for a fabulous weekend!!! You make everyday special...and I'm sure this weekend will be no exception! ~Janine XO
You have veritible treasures ...and photograph them so well. I would like to find and bring back a rock from North Carolina that is heart-shaped. Now who would I mail it to... hmmmm?
I'll think of someone!!! :)))
Love to you, Wanda.
Jackie
(Hi!, happy weekend Janine!)
Hola Wanda! Feliz fin de semana! :D
I always come away from your blog feeling delighted! The photos are amazing, your captures are fantastic. And how fun to have your son's company and delight in all the wonderful finds together.
You have a beautiful piece of property. I loved the pictures of all the nuts. Did they really all come from your property? Wonderful post filled with great variety - so interesting. I am so jealous (kidding) having a fox in your driveway- awesome.
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful pictures and the fossil like rock resembles the googled picture so closely! So much of nature's wealth in your backyard. Loved to see them all. My favorite is the sun shining through the trees of your driveway :)
I discovered you on Donna's Book Nook, and I'm so excited. I love nature and rocks. You live in a beautiful spot on God's earth...so many wonders. You're blessed, and I'm blessed because you share your blessings on your blogspot. I look forward to visiting your blog to provide a calm and serene respite from physical pain and stress. Thank you, Wanda. God Bless
Oh, I almost forgot; would you mind sharing what camera you use for your beautiful pictures? Thanks.
Hello Wanda,
Your post is like an oasis in a desert, so full of refreshing and wonderful things. I loved the rock that may be a dinasaur egg, and all the other wonderful things you find.
So much love surrounds you.
Simone
Oh Wanda, your blog requires a slow look, savoring every photo and every word-loving the music...just lovely.
Love, Debra
I believe that's a dinosaur egg. Absolutely!
Oh Wanda, what a lovely spot you live in, and how beautifully you present it.
Such a variety of wonderful things, - I love your ancient rocks. When Charles' brothers were young they found a dinosaur rib bone, - it is in the museum in Penticton.
Beautiful nature... fossils and all things natural are some of our favourite things.. I love how you portray them .. such a beautiful setting you have created and live in..you must have great pleasure from it every moment of the day...
