The nest box in the field was made
by our grandson Grant...
We've been keeping our distance...
hoping the Bluebirds would call it home...
...success.....it now holds 5 Bluebird eggs.
For now...here's a photo of the male Bluebird sitting
on the fence.....
-most photos enlarge-
Speaking of eggs...these plastic ones had to come down...
with help from Alivia...but before they did...
a Chickadee helped himself to some fibers from the
yarn...then flew over to a bird house a few feet away...
to line his nest.
Alivia always finds something to do...if only smelling the flowers...
but I have to be on my toes and think of things to do...
because not everything she thinks up is good
...for Gramma!
Here she wanted to lock me in the dog pen...I cooperated
a few minutes...but quickly suggested we bake a cake!
"Works every time!"
This is a 'Coffee Cup Cake' I found on Jennifer's Blog.
I thought Alivia might enjoy fixing it!
Alivia stirring an egg...
...adding some milk and oil...

...stirring in the flour, sugar, and cocoa...
...pouring it into 'coffee cups' !!!
After baking in the microwave...
Alivia poured melted icing over the top...
Alivia had already set up her tea party table...
it's a routine....she does it all..."works every time."

Afterwards...it's usually back outside...
Here she thinks she may possibly catch a bird
at the feeder.
.
Here I captured a Red-bellied Woodpecker...
with my camera...
Then I noticed he had a visitor...can you see?...
Make it easier.....enlarge the photo by clicking on it!
Then I caught three with the camera...in just the next moment!
Sometimes I just sit on my front porch with a camera...

Oh Wanda, Alivia is so sweet and what a wonderful Gramma you are. Enjoyed your pictures and everything looks so fresh and clean. I have such love for the land, I don't know how I ended up in a condo. Hugs my friend, take care xox
The sunrise picture was ethereal! I absolutely love to watch the sun rise and sets. It's such an out of the world experience.
Thank you for sharing the recipe of the coffee cup cake. You granddaughter is an angel :) It was good to know all your grandchildren are so attuned to nature.
Also liked the picture of your porch. You live in a very beautiful place :)
Regards and loads of love to you
Wanda,
That thing growing in your yard looks very interesting. I am curious about it. Also thank you for the beautiful photos. You also inspired a new blog I've been thinking about,Don't know if i'll have time today, have to bring doggie to the vet. Research the beast!
A beautiful post. It is amazing what can appear right before our eyes when we slow down long enough to just see it. I know it is something I struggle with. You are reading the Shack. I have finished it and am still processing it. A friend described it as a book that begs to be discussed. Have a beautiful day.
Baking with your grandchildren is truly one of Gods blessings, isn't it? I just love your yard, it is beautiful.
great pictures, as usual! i forgot all about that cake- thanks for reminding me!
What neat photos. I love the ones of the field.
ALso, thank you for visiting my blog and leaving me such a wonderful comment. That was so incredibly nice of you and I appreciate it so much.
Your blog is so peaceful and tranquil...I love visiting you. I love the 'Cup Cake', I think I will try that with Bailey next time she spends the night.
Hello Wanda,
So many beautiful photos and thoughtful captions - I can hardly pick a favorite. However, I'm awed by the pollen-covered bee. I also love the deer with the forsythia in the background. My babysitting duties are over. I'm alone in the silence of the mountains for a few days.
Hi Wanda, I missed your comment this morning, I guess I am spoiled but just want to make sure you are okay and well. Miss you....:-) Hugs
Yes Wanda, a visit to your blog is always good medicine for me. I love the song you chose for today. And, I need to remember, if I stop, look and listen, the way you did on your porch--well yes, it works every time. I've been stopping and looking and listening for my word. Amy
