.....Managing Snow & Life

This was the view from my window...
around Valentine's Day.

Here's birds in the pine tree...
where mostly they stayed.
~
~enlarges~
You can see only 7, but many were there!
.
.
.
Since then.....it has snowed...even again...

thirteen inches found it's way here....

Leaving the front porch...
with so much to clear.

Alivia managed to leave her mark.

But,
here on the back porch...
not a print.....just yet!

The birds all managed
to find their way too...
here, all in a row...
with a forgotten wreath....

just waiting and hoping...
this intruder would leave....

So much snow...
on a very long drive
.
left Herhusband...
with a job to do!

The very next day...
the sun managed to shine...

But still...
the snow's too deep
to easily take
those walks of mine.

I needed to find
other things to do.....
~
like
making breakfast muffins...
enough
for a month or two.

Made
scalloped potatoes and carrots
with just a little cheese....

Stir fried...
vegetarian sausage,
peppers......onions,
and zucchini till brown!

Whipped up ...
banana pudding
with
graham crackers
and sweet pecans!

Being snowed in...
I managed to watch...
home movies too!
This is a very young....
Granddaughter Katie "Poo"

This is an older Katie...
with cousin Alivia here...

Katie's birthday is Monday...

she's turning even older, 17 this year!

And...
here's Katie as a very small child...

Pretty and sweet in every way!

Katie...sometimes...

wore cute little dresses...
when she played.

She...
explored the woods...
at a very young age.

Katie often went...
on my walks with me.

Here...
she was posing...
in the stump of a tree.

Sweet and innocent.....
she easily appeared to be....

But,
was usually the first...
up any fallen tree!
As here, with her brothers
Andrew and Dylan...
then it's cousin Grant...
See whose first...it's...Katie.

She could stand her ground
in snowball fights.
Seen here with cousins Nathan
and Nick on the right!

4 leaf clovers...I keep in a book.
Many say, they are hard to find...
along with me...Katie looked too...
breaking my record, with 42!

At a very young age...
a serious practice of driving
she did...
mostly up and down our drive.

At about this time...
I thought I could see...
just a little...bit of me!

I'm on the left...she's on the right.
Please tell me
you see a resemblance...
even though...it's very slight?
~
Her appearance changes...
quite frequently.
At times, her hair...
she wears it straight...

but it seems to curl...quite easily!

Here's she's by my kitchen door...
I don't think I...
could love her more.

This was back in the fall...
just 'fence sitting'...
in the field....

and here...
she's sitting in a car...
Do you know what I feel?

It's that sense of humor.....
that keeps our Katie...so very real!

HI WANDA-

Oh how I enjoy wandering about your nature land, especially in Winter. And it is SO wonderful that Alivia is now exploring as Katie did - there is something so solid and secure in this repeat of wonder from generation to generation. It warms me all over. And YES!! Katie looks VERY much like you. :-) "Happy Birthday" beautiful Katie. And Wanda - your muffins and scalloped potatoes and banana cream pie with pecans? Are you serious? I would weigh 500 pounds if I lived even remotely near you. My goodness.
Thanks for a glorious Sunday adventure and treat.

Love to you my friend

*Thanks Janet, Katie is funny too and has 3 part time jobs.

*Hi Deborah, we have 9 g'children and this is the last of the birthdays until 3 in May and June.

*Thanks Viki, Katie is also a ver good student!

*Thank for the comparison Jientje. I know water drops are a favorite of yours!

Another lovely visit Wanda - seeing your happy bird friends, enjoying your food, and meeting your beautiful Katie. Before you even mentionned that she resembled you a `bit` I was thinking she looks VERY much like you! Lucky girl!

You have created such a lovely home and family.

June said...

Except for the different styles, little girl you and Katie could be the same person! And both beautiful!

I'm still amazed that you have more snow than we do here! What a funny winter!

Happy Birthday Katie, It was nice meeting you and yes, you definately resemble your gramma. I see the resemblance between Madison and I too. I'm glad. It's nice to see a little of your self in your grandchildren, if only for brief looks or the way one walks. It's just nice.

I really like your snow pictures, and am anxious to see your home in the spring after the thaw...if it ever thaws!

You certainly did have a nice dinner! Loved the muffins and all the other goodies. But, what else can we do when we're snowed in?! Did so enjoy your posts...debbie

Happy Birthday, Katie! (it's already Monday in Australia!). Yes, she does look very much like you at that age!

Does it get awfully muddy and sloppy when the ice melts? Love those red birds against the snow - Cardinals? I think I've mentioned before that we don't have them here.

Oh Wanda,

Katie looks just like you! The dear photos made me sad. The children grow so quickly. You have blessed her with many happy, sweet, fun memories.

The food that you prepare . . . Oh my, I don't know what to say except that you must be such a disciplined eater and you must have a wonderful time sharing your food with others. I have to fly through the photos or I would be out in the kitchen looking and tempted. Even so . . .

You are still one of my very favorite bloggers.

Blessings my friend.

Sending you some of the Florida warmth that we had this weekend.

*Thanks Bonnie, it's especially nice to hear that from you.

*Hi June, the worst of our winter has been here the last of February.

*Thanks Debbie, I hope Ernie is better.

*Hi Alaine, we sit on a hill, so there's good drainage, but the field stays soggy a while in the spring.

*Thank you so much Brenda, I actually love food and cooking, that's why I 'have' to take long walks!

*Hi Anne, if I could, I'd send you some snow! I will give you the recipe though...it was actually made up on the spot, but it was good.

*Thank you Rae, I just left your blog a few minutes ago.

*HiQMM, thank you for visiting, I will return the favor.

*Bernie! you were here while I was replying. I think she's much prettier. It's funny, Katie hates the photo where the tree stump frames her face and I love it!

*Jackie, you were here too! The snow was extra nice this time. It is starting to melt, it actually got up to 45* today.

Hi Wanda, I left a message and it disappeared never to be seen again. I do hope Katie has a lovely birthday and she does look like you, you are both lovely!
Not sure I can cope with all that cooking, I would put on far too much weight but at least I am now walking again with very little pain in the knee so slowly oh so slowly it is coming off.
Thanks for the lovely things you say on my blog.

Happy birthday, Katie! I really saw the resemblance in the eyes. That's the first place I look.

The sight of all the food really has me salivating! The zucchini stir fry -- Oh My!

You definitely got more snow then we did. I like the pictures of the unmarked snow. I tend to wax philosophical at the sight of it....

Have a wanda-ful week, Wanda! It's good to get a peek into the week gone by with you.

I see a VERY strong resemblance...in fact, if you could put them both in color or black and white, it would look like the same young girl!!

Your pictures were so beautiful and it looked as if you lined the birds up for the photo...aha...maybe they were stuffed birds???!

Speaking of stuffed, that food you cooked was so delicious looking and the 'presentation' was excellent as well so now I am hungry again!

blessings and happy hugs,

marcy

Hello Wanda
Oh my, such a lovely post!
Every time I see you at my friend Anne's blog I tell myself to visit you but I get busy and forget.
But did not forget tonight.

You have a beautiful blog and share beautiful pics.
Your grandaughter is a beautiful girl, I hope she had a wonderful birthday.

Take care, so nice to be here!

Margie :)

Hello Wanda,
I'm late visiting you but want to say a belated Happy 17th Birthday to Katie, who is quite lovely (and yes - I see quite a resemblance!). That squirrel looks too rotund, Wanda - you're going to have to put him on a diet. My favorite photo is of the birds all in a row on the railing. I see Herhusband has just the right equipment for keeping that curving lane snow-free. My husband loves to play on his John Deere! Your tractor got quite the workout this winter!

Hello Wanda, your Katie is adorable and YES OH YES there is a resemblance! The smile, the nose the eyes all the same! OH having them grow up is so bitter sweet isn't it! And to think, if it were not for you....she wouldn't be here! many smiles today Wanda!

Intelliblog said...

Hi Wanda. I'm sorry I haven't visited for a while (though I needed the refreshing amble through your gorgeous photos), but I have been super-duper-hyper-extra busy!

It's been a struggle to get my daily blog out, but it is a ritual now and it gets me mind working on another gear.

Thanks you for your visits and thoughtful comments. They are much appreciated.

As usual you photographs are lovely and it is amazing to see all the snow - we don't get any in Melbourne and have to go up to the mountains to see it.

The family photos are great. It's fantastic to be able to take a trip down memory lane when snowed in like that!

Keep well and warm!

*Hi Barb, glad you're back, usually he can't get to the seeds.

*Hi Linda, bittersweet is right!

*Thank You Nicholas for such nice comments too!
