They're Back

Can you guess who's back?

It's the mom and her twins, the bird seed raiders.

Mom is the lookout-

while the two little ones feast.

She spies me through the window-

decides I'm not a threat-

then joins her twins.

I think one of the twins is taunting me though.
Note the tongue.

Bird House???

Does our home look like a bird house?

It does have the general shape of one -

and we do always have lots of birds hanging around.

There are four different feeding areas with "LARGE" feeders -

even the ground works for the doves.

But during deep snow times,

we try to make it a little easier on them-
we feed them on the porch.

Towhee

Snowbird

Cardinal

Goldfinch

The squirrels are always on the lookout for their share too!

Sometimes they look like they're begging.

Here Comes the Snow!

I did say a few posts back, "More snow please!"
Well, the prediction is 6 in. by Wednesday morning.

I should go take a walk while there's only an inch or two,
because anything deeper makes it some what harder to navigate,
especially if you are dressed like this -

"Andrew"

- or if you're only 4 and need a little help from Mom! -

Alivia, Nick, & Sherri

Deep snow may also mean - Dylan to the rescue,

as here, when he thought the cat needed some assistance.

Old Bottles

A break in the weather and temperatures above freezing has melted the snow.
It's made me think of spring and what the thawing earth sometimes pushes forward.
On the property, in a small mound of a hill, I can usually find old buried treasures
slowly working their way to the surface.

medicine bottles - salt shaker - thimble - and key

perfume bottles - a tumbler - and a glass bus

Victory Lines Special is printed on it.

old soda bottles

large and small milk bottles - perfume - and Pepsi

more perfume - syrup - and medicine bottles

Will be watching for more in the spring.

Raid the Feeders

They seem to know where they're going
and exactly what they're going to do!

Raid the feeders!

All that protective gear doesn't foil the deer!

Warmer Times

Winter has it's nice moments, but when the temperature is in single digits only-

it makes us long for warmer times.

At least we have pictures that remind us warmer times will return!

which means -

daffodils and forsythia in the spring -

bunnies eating clover -

dogwood and lilac -

butterflies on flowers-

blue jays in the grass-

salmon colored poppies -

hummingbird moths -

and lilies in the garden.

But mostly warmer times mean -

Granddaughters Amanda & Alivia (and a friend)
can "walk" to Gramma's house for a visit!

By the way-
trees seem to appreciate warmer times too.
