April's sunrises have been golden at times...
strikingly bright...with vivid pinks and blues
...or just peaceful with soft pastel hues.

Monday's sunrise was like a promise of things to come...
just like this hummingbird feeder
shouted "Summer" to me when I first saw it.
because I know the promise of warmer days...
means the return of Hummingbirds!
The alternating sunny warm and cold wet days of
April have made things grow around here...
lawnmower in use here by Herhusband!

The warmth and the rain has helped the Naked Ladies...

so called because the green foliage dies back...
without blooming...
with the promise of flowers...in late July...
when they change into this...

Meanwhile we have the wild violets to enjoy!
Between the rain showers I find time for small walks...
like the one I took last week with Alivia...
over to the ridge with the fallen tree...
that slowly sinks closer to the ground every year.
Most of the grandchildren have played on it.

I went there again this week.....alone...
well I thought I was alone...
but you're never alone in the woods...
there's always the promise of something near...
and this deer wasn't alone either...
a perched Chipping Sparrow...

a Mocking Bird...

the lonnngggg trunk!
a Mocking Bird...
.
or what I thought looked like one...
Can't you visualize the dark eyes...droopy ears...
Can't you visualize the dark eyes...droopy ears...
and...

the lonnngggg trunk!
you now see the face on this rock in my garden?...

Oh, Wanda, don't you just love the way the light looks after a hail storm? Your pink clouds seem as though they are floating to bed at the edge of the horizon. The light through the bird house is awesome - I like the rays and splashes of liquid color it makes. Your land is definitely coming alive this spring! I always look forward to visiting.
PS The rainbow at the end of your page is beautiful!
oh thank you! I always wondered what the Naked Ladies were called. I see them all the time but had no idea. Are they in the lily family? And I love the picture of the hail in the front yard, very cool.I saw the face in the rock and the elephant. You have a lovely yard Wanda,I'm sure it takes a lot of time but it's worth it!
Very very beautiful as always. Going through these made me feel like it was me who went for a walk. This is nature at it's very best. Hats off to you for capturing the best and bringing them to us!
one question though...who is Herhusband? Your husband?
Wanda I am so happy to find your blog. Thanks for visiting mine. I love the elephant, it is grand. You have a wonderful home. Thanks for the walk, I could feel the cool breeze, smell the wonderful odors that the woods produce. I am happy you have been with Herhusband for such a wonderful length of time. Wish I could say the same. Only blessings do I wish for you. Your mussic is great also.
Guess what I am going to do tomorrow, I'm going to buy a bird feeder for my back deck. I am going to try to receive a bit of the beauty of your wonderful land at my tiny condo. I so enjoy your blog Wanda, it's so peaceful to visit here. Now don't work herhusband too hard, LOL God Bless my friend.....:-) Hugs
Hi Wanda, it looks like the weather changes very quickly, like it does here in Alberta. You are just a little bit ahead of us in the Spring department. Everything is looking colorful and beautiful! Today it is cold again, -7 celcius, and there were snow flurries. Thankyou for your comments on my blog...you are right, you never know what the future holds.
I saw the elephant and the face and wondered, "Would I have seen them if Wanda hadn't showed it to me?" I fear not. I am spending my day pulling last winter's "stuff." Thought I was done for the day... when I went over your pictures and realized anew what comes after the work ... the miracles of spring.
hey Wanda
i actually saw the face on the rock before i read ur comment on it :) awesome...hey do check my post have left a request for u on my blog ..in fact a reply to ur commnt... thanks
I absolutely love your yard, it is beautiful, peaceful and colorful, the flowers, the fences, the mist and lawn art (not to mention the lawn mower lol). I could look at these photos for a long time. We won't be free from the threat of frost until June 1st, so it will be a while for flowers here.
