One morning I discovered this beautiful little bird...
a Purple Finch...
sitting on a small pile of rocks out back...
seeming to just be taking in the view...
and then doing a little exploring on the ground.
The same morning I discovered this cute Lady Bug
underneath a Sunflower leaf...wet with rain.

But then...
-
every morning...
-
I discover a Lady Bug ...
-
greeting me with a smile!
I pass it on my way to check the small new garden
just off the back deck...where I have growing...
tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and peppers.
In the past...I have grown
small size tomatoes in a pot on the deck...
which Alivia would carefully pick by the armful...
just stare intently at what she first picked!
lots of cucumbers were grown there last year...

and a few Sunflowers for the birds.

and a few Sunflowers for the birds.

The Parsley...
Rosemary...and...
Basil are also my responsibility to grow...
Rosemary...and...
Basil are also my responsibility to grow...like the Yarrow...shown here
with the Wild Fire Pink from the woods...
in the back...plus a little Autumn Joy...
along with a few Wild Daisies in the back.
around a small birdbath which needs cleaned.
Out of five birdbaths...there's always one
that needs to be cleaned.

I LOVE your gardens (veggie and flower) and right now.....green with envy! Beautiful pictures!
You know, Wanda, I literally just sigh with delight when I finish looking at your pictures and comments about them, then I go back and do it over again.
That bird is just precious and has the wrong name because it is far from Common!`
How I loved the photo with Alivia just staring at the beautiful tomato...she is just a doll. Did you know that my oldest (soon to be seven) grandaughter is named Olivia?
Thank you for suggesting enlarging the photos because the raindrops were so sweet.
Loved the deer visiting...don't blame them, just can't figure why they'd ever leave...if you ever find me on your front lawn, I'm going to homestead!!!
Thank you for taking me to storybook land again and again!!
blessings and gratitude,
marcy
Hello my friend, another beautiful post. As I have in the past I got lost in the magic of your photos and felt the calm and peace of actually walking through your yard and seeing the foliage, birds, deer, and flowers. This post is absolutely amazing.
I read Stillness suggestion in an e-mail and immediately went to my blog to try it and was so pleased it worked. Can't understand why I didn't think of it on my own.
Wanda I have planted gladiola bulbs, now can I plant other flowers over them and can I leave them planted over the winter or do I dig them out to re-plant next spring? I don't know why my friend but I think you know everything I don't (which is a lot).
Have a great evening ...... :-) Hugs
It was a pleasure to discover with you again. It looks like it has been a good season for growth THERE, too! We've had just the right amount of rain and sunshine for plants and animals (and people) to thrive here in NW Indiana!
What a beautiful bird! Its colors are so vibrant. I would just love to hear its song! I hope it decides to stay and ...I hope there are others!
Thank you for sharing another lovely and peaceful post. Gorgeous flowers by the way! Great photos, too! Much Love.
Oh, what a calming place to come and visit! I absolutely love it!
I did enlarge the photos and saw the birds. It's hard for me to pick a favorite, of course I loved the picture of Alivia, and I also liked the little bird at the top of the post, but also the pictures of the trees and the mist and the rain, they looked so inviting. I wanted to hop into them!
Thanks for sharing a beautiful spot!
Oh, Wanda, your place is filled with such beauty. I realize many hours of toiling and sweat went into creating it, then God put His stamp of approval on it. It is simply gorgeous. I have paid to walk through gardens that were no more outstanding than yours!
Alivia and the tomatoes! What a grand photo. Something she will have forever - when she picked those tomatoes. Isn't the growing season amazing? (Although I would be happy if you sent us your rain - we are becoming a dustbowl). And I will return. Again and again. You help me to appreciate what I have!
Once again . . . grogeous photos. Delightful! So glad to celebrate the beauty with you!
Hi Wanda,
You and I will have some of the same flowers this summer - though I believe yours will be a bit ahead of mine. My favorite photos among all the winners were the ladybugs. Your macro is gorgeous! That curvy, welcoming lane - those deer were running lickety-split! You must have been ready with the camera to capture that one.
Once again Wanda you have absolutely beautiful photos! And I noticed the word calming used a few times in your comment section. They are very calming indeed! You are very blessed to live where so much beautiful nature abounds.
What exquisite pictures!! The last few can be set up as desktop wallpapers or maybe printed and framed. They are that good. Sunlight streaming through the trees is such a vision. Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures with all of us :-)
I can't decide which pictures to comment on, they're all so pretty. I love the mist, the fence and the light.
Love the photo of her staring at the tomato..so cute. I had to laugh at the photo of your mexican primrose...in Texas it is considered an intrusive weed. I was forever yanking it out of my gardens. I would shake my head when I noticed it was being sold in catalogues.
When I wonder why I spend a beautiful spring day digging, sweating—working!—I only have to scroll through your latest posting, with it's diverse beauty, and find my answer. You inspire me with your photos, flowers, words…and the work and love I know goes into each and every one.
Your posts always make me happy. They speak of love for the little things, even if it's a raindrop or a little bird, or an armful of tomatoes. That's what it's all about, isn't it? The little things...
Beautiful photo's and makes me feel the comfort of your home and land. Breathtakingly beautiful!
Hi Wanda,
I loved the Red Poll, and I do not think I have ever seen one of those. Are they rare? I thinking of planting some herbs in pots, and I am going to try some tomatoes too. What kind do you usually grow? They look wonderful (I love tomatoes!) You have a wonderful garden. I used to live in the country on an acreage too and I love my garden. I miss it...even used to do some canning in the fall! I especially loved my flower garden, however, I never really knew the names of the flowers, but each day going out and seeing them bloom made me so happy! I love coming here to see what is blooming in your garden. Thank you also for all your encouragement and kind words. I am so glad you are in my life...even if it is just on here.
((((hugs))))
We share a lot of the same flowers. You must live in a quiet and woodsy place. Your photos capture the stunning calmness of nature in its prime. I wish I had more time to visit here; This time of year is so crazy with yard work. No need to tell you to enjoy the day, you obviously make time for things that are necessary for a peaceful mind. Great blog!
A lovely post with beautiful photos. The water vapor coming off the wood is enchanting.
