Quietly Busy

It's been a quiet day...not much going on
outside this window...except for...

~
a Downy woodpecker that keeps drinking at
the hummingbird feeder.
~

-click photos to enlarge-
~

and this Dove quietly sitting out back...
trying to figure out just
what happened to his fountain with the rocks...

that he and his friend use to sit on.

Besides changing the water fountain

which isn't quite finished...

I've just been picking some basil..

and deadheading the flowers when I can...

...between the alternating days of rain
and sunshine...some days I find the
coneflowers very wet.....

and some days dry...like this one with it's
straight level petals...

this one with it's droopy swirl of petals...

or this one with it's in between petals.

This morning as I went out for my walk...
I headed toward the field...

where my grandson Grant had camped out
the night before...Knowing he wasn't up yet
...I quietly took a photo and moved on...

A few days ago I found the field again to be...

quietly swarming with bees of all kinds.
There are over 10 bees in this photo alone.

Some made me think "Beeware"

while others were just beautiful and "Beebusy"

Today I found the field to be very wet
with a heavy early morning dew...

that even the blackberries could not escape.

At the other end of the field...down by the barn...
the hibiscus was wet and blooming...

with many buds yet to open...

I walked on to check a very old pear tree in
the woods at the beginning of the drive...
it's branches were loaded down with fruit.

Then I noticed a young robin
quietly sitting in the wet grass...just
sitting there...waiting...
not wanting to fly just yet.

Then ending my walk and heading back home...

guess who I saw...the two friendly fawns...
playing in my flower garden again...

but I also noticed someone
quietly watching over them...
The Mom...
so I cautiously turned into the field...
~

I've learned that these two friendly fawns are
actually 2 of 3 fawns I see sometimes...
the third fawn stays closer to the mom than
these two that roam on their own sometimes.

Anyway, since I was in the field...
I picked a handful of blackberries...
~

before going home back across the field...

but I did stop to take a photo of
this Balloon flower...

this soon to open Blackberry Lily and...

a video of...
Mom and her three fawns...
and I then...went quietly inside.

Wanda, I can never fill my eyes and heart enough with the beauty of your glorious land. I am so glad I don't have to choose a favorite photo or video, my main passion is just to enjoy.
If I had to choose two words to describe you my friend, I think they would be "Quietly Busy" Thank you for sharing all this beauty with us.....:-) Hugs

Wanda...I'm working 'backwards' reading your blogs, so I'm sure I'll be back. I wanted to comment on your post with the great poem and the 7 things that you shared about yourself. First of all, I never realized that listen and silent had the same letters...Thank you for sharing that with me. Second, I also didn't know that you and Annette wre Mother and daughter until a few days ago. Duh, me. I love your site....absolutely love it...and I'm off to read your next blog. Pardon me if I pop back in. While I have this dial up 'up and running' I want to try and catch up with my friends. I've missed you, and I love being in your wonderful yard/garden/paradise.
Smiles,
Jackie (still in N.Carolina.)

Oh, Wanda, so much to take in. I love it all!
Your hanging basket is so full and beautiful!
And you also had a squirrel in the dove picture! And your basil looks wonderful! Ray is growing some in a pot on our back deck and he had enough for me to use in my baked ziti this weekend!
And I am lucky enough to have a very big monitor and when I enlarged your bee picture I counted twenty bees! And the wings on the scary looking bee are beautiful, Wanda! They look like leaded glass windows. Really very pretty.

I think the hibiscus is my favorite flower picture, but it's so hard to choose a favorite.
The robin looked so cute, all puffed up. Was it cold?

The deer are so cute and the video was fantastic! Thanks for sharing all this.
I'm going back for a second (no, this will be my third) look!
All the best,
Eileen

Your window with the leaves on it looks wonderful Wanda :)

Those bees look so good hovering over the white flowers. Good to see that they have found their natural habitat intact!

As always the other pictures had a very calming effect on me. Can't thank you enough for sharing the beauty around you with one and all :-)

Hello Wanda

It was a lovely quietly busy walk you took us on.
The white hibiscus is so soft and pretty, the bees so big and numerous and most of all I love the great sweep of the cone flowers - which are new to me...

Thank you Wanda

Good morning!
Thanks so much for stopping by my post to read about the Robin Family.
The chicks have left the nest... My husband guessed correctly that it would be a matter of days... Yesterday morning, I was blessed to see the second of the two poised on the edge of the nest waiting to take that first flight. I sat, very still, with camera in hand... and caught some sweet moments. I'll post what I have asap.

I'm so glad I meandered over from Barb's site to yours. I love all of your pictures. I especially enjoyed the young robin photo :)
It was wonderful to share your morning walk with all of us. You were able to capture the tender and innocent aspects of nature...

Another wonderful walk with you Wanda...I really enjoyed it, and I am glad I am back in "blogland" where I can spend time with you in your beautiful corner of the world. I would love to taste those blackberries, for they are my favorite. Do you make blackberry pie? Yum! Is it unusual to have so many bees? What a blessing to have those little fawns come to visit...thank you so much for sharing Wanda. Grant looks like he is really decked out in the camping gear! Was he camping alone?

Is there such as thing as a quiet day outside? You certainly haven't experienced one so far—not if your photos are allowed to tell the story. Which they do, of course, and so beautifully.

I am envious of your coneflower patch. (Well, I'm envious of practically your whole yard, but I'll just focus on the coneflowers for now. :-))

Another incredible post. Thank you for the "walk."

your posts remind me of each Sunday morning when at the end of the Sunday morning news (which I record) they take you to a place of beauty. Never are words spoken. You only hear the sounds of nature. You seem to capture the same beauty in your surrounding each day. Thank you for sharing your world.

Hello Wanda,
I'm late coming to visit you. I'm spending early to late outside now in these glorious sunny CO days. I think of you sometimes on my hikes and in my garden. My joys are the same as yours, I think. I am always interested in triplets - my mother was a triplet - multiples run in my family - I had twin boys and one of my boys has twins.

My favorite photo of this post is the wonderful hazy field shot with that inviting bench. I'd have to rest there for awhile after the walk, just to take in the peace and the beauty. I also loved the picture of the groundcover on the way home - all that beautiful carpet of greenery. Enjoy it all, Wanda! Smiles to you.

Well Wanda your photos were lovely and the berries made me a little hungry. But Wanda you better Bee careful, beecause if you keep telling bee jokes you will bee competing with Marcy!

mmmmmmmm....blackberries! We saw some growing wild when we walked trails last week. They weren't as nice as those that are picked from year to year (as you may know).

Thanks for the empathy re. grandchildren. I'd fight tooth and nail for them, but don't know how much strength I actually have. God knows. I am weak, but He is strong...
