Spent the Last Day

This was yesterday's golden sunrise, which led to
a beautiful warm day...the last day of March.

The bright early sun created long shadows in the yard...
Spring is here to stay...maybe!?!?!

...More plants are sprouting ...the daffodils are fuller...

The ornamental grasses are showing activity.....

...right along with this Eastern Phoebe...can you see him?

-photos enlarge-

The deer have more spring in their walk across the field...

and this squirrel is determined to enter the squirrel proof

bird feeder...every spring the younger squirrels have to learn...

they can't!

Alivia...my youngest grandchild...usually comes back
on Tuesdays...after Kindergarten to spend the day!
This small tree looked like this before she arrived...

After she was here awhile....

it ended up looking....

like this...

She decorated for Easter...
.
and within minutes
.
there was a squirrel checking it out!

Just hope they stay out of the spring-time wreath ...

Alivia and I made for the door!

Ater finishing outside, we went in for lunch...

I had made scalloped potatoes topped with zuchinni
the day before.

That's what blogging does to you...
you end up taking photos of food you make...

or

ones of your granddaughter doing dishes...
which she begs to do...honest!...
.

Alivia always finds time to play with some dolls

while here...

and she did a little more Easter decorating too...

Then we went to the kitchen again....

and this time...it was to....

bake a cake...

which we and grampa...quickly cut into and ate!

So that is how I spent the last day of March...

"-which went out like a lamb- "

...just spending some special time with Alivia...

...and watching her move the Easter decorations...around !!!

These days

Saturday morning's sky was bright blue with countless white clouds.

It became a warm balmy day with a high of 75.....
.

.....with no sign of Canadian Geese this time.......

but I did capture this jet leaving it's vapor trail through the trees...

Also through the trees, I spied this odd place where a squirrel

had taken advantage of a storm damaged tree and made a home...

...right at the top!
.
Squirrels must like to be on top of things.....

...as here...on top of my small "inuksuk".....

...and here.....relaxing on top of a hanging pot on the back porch. .

.

.

I guess squirrels also were enjoying the day.....

with all the beautifully shaped clouds and nice weather!

It was warm enough to have our spaghetti lunch.....

.

...on the front porch!

But then...

Sunday morning...was a different story...with it's dark stormy clouds.

These days do change quickly!

But at least...it wasn't a snow storm I was looking at....

.... like this time last year.....through my front door.

Still...snow or not...what a difference a day makes...

.....even my walk in the woods.....

.....seemed less "springy".....
.

with the overcast and autumn's leaves still clinging to young Beech trees!

This old dark decaying tree seemed to fit right in with the day's

threatening weather of a tornado watch!
.

Then on my walk back toward home.....

a pair of Robins just sitting there...

waiting for spring too.....

.....another reminder that the Daffodils will bloom soon enough...

and that these days of blue skies do return!

Together!

Days are slowly getting longer, here this second day of March
the morning's sunrise was at 7:08 a.m. Getting closer to "Spring"...
but...
.

March can surprise you, as last year when I saw this
.
through my front window .....

I'm hoping by the end of March, this will be the view from that window!

There is no school today, due to teacher's in service day,
.
so grandsons Andrew and Dylan will be spending it with us.
.
They can walk through the woods to get to our home.
.
I often go down to the creek with them.....
.
notice last year's trillium and fern on the hillside....
.

and these are some large old trees uprooted
.
during a storm a few years back....
.

on which they always climb

.

and explore, by reaching into places.....I never would.....

.

The logs come in handy to cross over the creek.....

.

or just to sit on....."together".....

.

together at the creek last fall.....
.

"together"

.

as they always seem to be.....

as you can see!

Together!

As I hope they'll always be!
