Finally Managed

Cloudy days have been with us all weekend...
bringing rain along with the cooler temperatures.
.

The sun tried it's best to break through Saturday morning...
.
but it remained a sunless day....
.
but that didn't keep the pear trees from knowing it's spring...

and time for them to sprout their blossom buds...

which they managed to do!

The Forsythia blooms are getting thicker too...

they could almost substitute for the sun.

Herhusband and I did manage to do some yard work.
He cut and I stacked the wood he removed from a limb
that fell a while back...
.

We're leaving the main section to serve as a bench

or something for the grandkids to play around on and...

just hope they don't manage to get hurt.

Herhusband managed to find time to split some logs...

and I found time to cook a few meals...

Sausage & Peppers & Baked Pasta...

Salmon & Kale Salad...

..and Reese's Cups Cookies for the grandkids...
their favorite!

The later it became...the cloudier it became

... the sun kept trying but never managed to break through.

The end of March last year was a little sunnier...
I remember...because March 30th is my birthday and...
in this photo of the spring flowers I received...
you can see the sun is very bright.
.
The poinsettas on each side...
I managed to keep over from Christmas!

This is a photo of the very last flowers given to me...
by my Mother...2 years ago...for my birthday.
.

and this I received yesterday from my sister Joyce...
a beautiful card and 2 book markers she crocheted.
We both love to read when we manage to find the time!
.

My daughter and I went to a Julie Zickefoose Lecture
and book signing...
... this is her book I bought for myself...
.

...and...this is a photo...

...I finally managed to post...

of myself...

...but only because...Monday's my Birthday!!!
"64"

Joyous Birthday Wanda, and you don't need the sun on your birthday, it shines in you!!! Thank you for sharing your gardens, home and yourself. I have come to enjoy you blog and your comments on my blog so very much. When its my b'day I will share my photo too, instead of one of my self portraits (shadows of me). Glad that you liked the tag id. info and your comment got me thinking about a new blog.
Enjoy your special day.
Lots of Hugs, Joan (deerfriend)

If I were closer, I'd sing the Birthday song to you - but...maybe you can be glad I'm not! This was one of your most special posts in a series of wonderful pictures and stories. Your daffs are growing and your Mother's lilies have really gotten so much taller. I bet it's nice for you to remember that bouquet she gave you, too.
Have a Happy Happy Birthday, Wanda and a healthy and productive 64th year!

PS Wanda, is that you in the group picture on Julie Zickefoose's blog????

Oh my gosh, Wanda, here I am again. Don't publish this or people reading your blog will think I'm nutty! I just inadvertently rejected your comment on my blog rather than publishing it. I usually pick up the comments on my iPhone and the area I must click is small - whoops! Anyway, thanks for your comment and yes, the pictures were of Neve, 2 1/2 and Caden 1 1/2.

Just thought I'd tell you happy birthday again! Also, I forgot to tell you that I've been stealing a new picture off your blog every few days to use as my desktop background... I'm using one of your cloudy sky pictures right now :)

Love,
Amanda

I just knew I would miss something special because I've been "behind" in reading lately. (I managed to get strep throat, better now!) Well Happy Birthday to you Wanda! Your blog always makes me feel relaxed and contemplative. You have beautiful property and I can tell how much you enjoy the outdoors. Your pictures are always the greatest. Have you ever entered a contest? Those daffodils look fabulous...yes I think spring is really here to stay! YIPPEE!
