Garden Party

Maybe I should name this lone little fawn....

who I just happened to look out and see.....
.

having himself a party....in my garden...
.

He was standing in the middle of some wild daisies.

I approached slowly and he didn't appear frightened...

but he did hike his tail.....

and ran away....

leaving my garden a little empty and boring.....

except for yellow lilies and yarrow...I just have
a few purple flowers in bloom...

Most of the Coneflowers still look like spiky buds....

so the garden is a little plain...well, except for a
mysterious face in the ornamental grass...My
son discovered it Sunday...while enlarging a photo
on last week's post....Can you see it?
After clicking on photo to enlarge...the statue like
face appears half way up...just below the plumes
of the tall ornamental grass...

-enlarge to see-

While some of the family was leaving Father's Day...
we saw the Mother and three fawns in the field.
Remember them?

The fawns kept her there several minutes....
nursing...and then they too...went away!

At least they aren't eating my Hostas this year....
not yet anyway.

Even with all the rain and moisture in the air...

I still have to water the potted cherry tomatoes
on the back porch every day...sometimes twice.

This end of the porch takes you to the back yard...

where the other tomatoes are planted and a small
water fountain for the birds is located...

You may be able to see a Finch sipping water in
this blurred photo...I took through the window.

A birdhouse is located back here too...
the Carolina Wrens use it...

they are working on their second nest...

of the season.....

also back here....sometimes we see
Woodpeckers on the trees.....

-photos enlarge-

...and in the trees!

sometimes you may also find.....
Alivia...in a hammock!

Doesn't she look like she's day dreaming.....
...maybe about a "garden party"...

Not only in the grass did I see a little hidden face, but also in the tree (in that same picture) I spied another face!

I can't believe you have Bambi's family come to visit all the time! That first photo of the fawn is priceless! Seriously, it has got to be an award winning photo! I am always amazed coming here.
I really loved the one of the mama nursing her babies too, so sweet.

Thanks for showing us more and more of your property. It really is an oasis for my soul. I'm daydreaming now about lying in the hammock with a good book! Move over, Alivia!

I like your deck too! I would love to spend hours just wandering your property. Watching the birds come to the birdbath (I really liked that little pitcher you had there too ~ all part of the fountain?).

Seriously, all amazingly beautiful!

Wanda, I wanted to ask if you would mind if I copied the image of your first picture from your previous post (the one with the clovers on the rock)? Don't feel bad if you want to say no, I'll understand.

Great post!

Oh my goodness...oh my goodness!!!
I told someone else in a comment today (or yesterday) that your garden and yard looks like paradise....something out of a storybook... The deer....the fawns...I can't imagine seeing those beautiful creatures just scampering around... I love being here....I absolutely love being here. More photos....please!!!(Are you sending these to anyone to publish? )

The deer photos were amazing Wanda. Nice to be able to get so close! When I saw Alvia in the hammock, I envisioned her all grown up coming to see Grandma, going back to that spot for a relaxing moment of hers!

Yes, I see the face in the grass! That's freaky. I'd like to see the face in the tree that Eileen spoke of. I can't find it. I agree with her too---the fawn photo is an award-winner. Beautiful photos of the deer.

Thank you, Wanda, I'm pilfering it right now!
I'm going to save it, print it on photo paper, and frame it (and of course credit the photographer!). I'll post a picture of your picture once it's done!
Thanks again! So generous!

Hi Wanda

What a beautifully marked little fellow the fawn is.

I enjoyed our walk around the gardens today, seeing your birds and veges too - those tomatoes are looking very healthy...

Happy Days

Dear Wanda, what beautiful pictures. You have such a beautiful garden and I couldn't believe how big your tomato plant is...do you realize just how lucky you are to have all those beautiful birds and fawns come to your garden party.....I think it's all the love and work you put into your yards and gardens that make them feel so welcome.
Alivia is adorable.....I so enjoy your post Wanda, so very much...you have a real gift my friend...:-) Hugs

That's it...I'm moving in!!!! Love the fawn photos and Carolina Wrens are a favorite of mine

Just look over Janet's shoulder, I'll be right behind her!!

Do you realize how difficult it is for me to try not to click on each and every one of your glorious pictures, Snow White?

I love resavoring each one...you catch such delightful looks...I think the fawn was saying..."oh, good it's you, my friend, Snow White!"

Your deck is so gorgeous...would love to just sit and read there, but then I would be too tempted to walk around and absorb your woods...how I love the woods and nature (think I have American Indian in me?)

Well, guess what? I failed to see the face in the grass, but saw two DIFFERENT images on the tree, both of Jesus, the enlarged image of Him with a goatee and the smaller version with a full beard, both ever so loving looking!

My eyes are so happy...they love visiting storyland and you!

blessings and hugs,

marcy

Wanda,
I really do thing that fawn likes to have his picture taken. He always seems to be around. Then the fawn nursing, she must feel comfortable with you taking pictures.
I sat and sat looked and looked, but I too, failed to see the face in the grass. I must look again to see if I can see it.
As always it is a pleasure to come here and visit all the wonderful sights where you live.

It's me again. I left a note for you on my blog, but thought I would come over here as well. I found Annette's blog through yours because I liked her title and went to her blog to find out that we did have some things in common. I wasn't aware that she was your daughter until you mentioned it.
Take care.

Absolutely enchanting! Your garden is such a beautiful secret garden of sorts. I can hear the sounds of the forest and smell the dew on the grass! I love your garden and would love to take a walk through it....closeing my eyes....I am there!.....ummm

Your garden is beautiful! The
fawn(s) are so adorable. Great pics.

I believe I saw the statue-like face - dark profile, if I'm not mistaken.
Except for the many birds feasting on our mulberries, the main sign of life are the tunnels of a very busy mole or vole! We've gone a few summer without them, but he/she is back - much to our dismay. I MUCH prefer your pictures of sedate and peaceful wildlife :)

I think the face by the tree is more than a face...you can see a whole person, with feathers in her hair. Maybe it is Pocahantis? That is so interesting...I loved your photos and the one especially of the fawn.

The photographs of the fawn are just beautiful, they are such pretty animals. The face i quite plain to see - I think you have fairies in your garden.......

Hello Wanda,
The little fawn is looking as though YOU are the intruder! I see many faces on the trees - you have a woodland Mount Rushmore there! I see the grass one you mentioned. There is also one higher up on the tree to the left side. On the tree to the right, just at the shaft of sunlight, there is a face with hair, eyes, and full smiling lips (just above the Yarrow). In fact, the bright green could be her frilly collar.
I love the old pitcher by your fountain. Isn't water special in a garden? Your tomatoes look as though Jack could climb up them to the Giant's castle! Wish I could grow veggies here. I really miss home-grown tomatoes.
Have a wonderful weekend.

PS Alivia is adorable in the hammock.

Yes, Alivia is daydreaming - maybe out trusting baby fawns who come to visit! How lucky for her!

Oh my, I love your photos! I did not know that deer had triplets! Wow! Amazing indeed to see what you see. It must be such a delight to see it all in person!
